Well... I hadn't thought of that. This may have to be a project for another budget.

So are you employed again mate? Is that a totally new loom you constructed or did you just patch up and restore the original loom? I would love to build a brand new wiring loom for the 240z so you can run modern fuse box and headlights / alternator etc.. But I'm a total wiring dunce at this stage and don't know where to start learning really, other than buying a decent multi-meter and pulling my hair out.

Still on the original alternator. :(

Parts of the loom are brand new, parts are refabbed, and the plugs to the cabin are original.

Still with out a job, but looking actively. I spent very little on the loom, some cash on sand paper, had paint from the car left over, and my painter is supplying the rest. He is a good mate, so hopefully it wont cost me much lol.

Isn't there a 'plug in' mod available to delete the voltage reg without cutting wiring in favour of an internally regulated? I'm sure I've seen it for the 240

correct... you just make up a plug with a resistor wired in or you can mod the loom to run the resistor inline

You should be able to pick up a second hand alternator for what $30 - $40? By the time you have had your engine bay painted and what not you will probably have another job and just just buy the alternator! Just mod it while it's apart now.

Finally had my engine bay painted. I have put a bit more of it back together now and started polishing up my engine cover, but I have a bit more to do. But for now the old girl is in the shop getting a new sump gasket and diff gasket, need to cut out those pesky leaks on my driveway.

I have been busy of late. I moved the battery back into its rightful place in the engine bay. Dug up all the original wires in the centre of the dash and now have a working cigarette lighter and radio. Yep, my original hitachi radio works, but I have bypassed it and have a pioneer radio in my glove box. So it lights up at night when the headlights are on and the green reception light comes on when I have a signal, but my noise comes from the pioneer unit.

I redid my roof lining, and I promise it will never ever sag. I cut a piece of 1ply to shape and builders glued the vinyl to it. So now the timber base can be removed but the vinyl trim wont sag from it. Looks better than new!

I also started building the speaker spaces. 7x10s in the tool boxes, tweeters in the roof lining above the sun visors and 6 inchs in the factory locals. The only visible speakers are the 7x10s and even they are not intrusive.

Also got my new diamond patterned vinyl for the transmission tunnel and that has really finished of the look of the interior bar one thing. Time to replace the carpet for OEM black.

one bad thing though. I never realised how thin the Jtin really was. So easy to pin dent the roof... now I need to go to the panel shop for a roof repair.

Pictures to come.

Now that's how a modern deck install should be done on a zed! :) Looks very neat in the glovebox and the console looks factory with original radio. Very neat work

Is that a speaker in the roof lining?

Correct, tweeters for the splits are flush mounted in the roof. I just need the factory speaker brackets to mount the other half of that combo. So, the only real visible speakers I have are the 7x10s and once i have grills for those, they will be less visible.

Best part is, the original radio is wired up and works, (sans speakers), but if tuned in the tune in light will come on, and the lights will come on with the headlights. And then, the Pioneer draws all its wiring loom from the correct wires in the factory radio loom.

Nice, Like the diamond pattern much more now it's in the car.

It is softer, cleaner and a much better fit, there is absolutely no gap between in and the plastics, I trimmed the middle section inside of the car for a super flush fit.

Im not gonna lie every time see your car it excites me....haha i wish mine was half as good as yours :D

And those wheels are they Meister S1's or S1R's!? the spoke looks pretty aggressively curved, but that could just be the angle in the pic or my consumption of ice cold beverages lol
