RB30X Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 So what type if damage are you talking here? Panel damage or paint damage? Quote
Stivva Posted June 27, 2012 Author Posted June 27, 2012 Finally got it all sorted out. Its going in for the respray now and I want to buy a few parts before it does. Now, are the TOPSTAGE flares all that and a bag of potato chips? Because I need to replace my flares and I don't want shit ones. Should I colour code the flares and spoiler? Should I keep it Stain or go Gloss??? Three questions I need a good answer for. Quote
Rat1314 Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 Keep the paint the same, your car pulls it off so well. As for the other two questions I have no idea Quote
Stivva Posted June 27, 2012 Author Posted June 27, 2012 Also, does anyone with quality Black carpet want to trade for my beige colour carpet? Its a great contrast and looks great but, I want to revert to stock interior. Quote
Agno Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 Id say gloss... Purely because you probably don't want to have to get it painted again should you acquire some new "parallel pinstripes" Quote
DreamZproject Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Hey Stivva, can you give me any more information about the colour of paint you have? I've gone in to nissan to ask about the colour, and they are about as helpful as a one legged man in an ass kicking contest.... Quote
Retro Z Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Its 40th anniversary Gunmetal Grey (KAV) off Nissan 370z with satin clearcoat. And gloss black for accents. Quoted on page 11 of this very thread Quote
DreamZproject Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 yeah, thats what i told them, but they still had no idea... they said that its probably called a different colour here in Australia... I dont know, maybe they just couldn't be farked... Quote
Retro Z Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Dont bother going to Nissan for paint..they wont be interested. Just go to any decent paint shop and they will mix up the (KAV) for you and then purchase a satin clearcoat or a flattening agent you can add to regular clear. Some paint shops can also mix up paint as a single stage 'straight out of the gun' satin.but i wouldnt recommend it Quote
Stivva Posted June 28, 2012 Author Posted June 28, 2012 Things I bought today! Genuine New 280z console with lid Genuine New Gear boot Genuine New Gear Knob Topstage Flares Does anybody know where I can get new Diamond Vinyl for the trans tunnel, I just want raw material, I can cut the shape myself. Quote
saxon Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Thezstore has it already cut. I bought the 240z cut cause of the diamond shape, even though I have a 260. Was close enough. Quote
saxon Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 If I was to do it again, I'd get real stitching and foam backing to make it pop, something like this.... http://www.fabricempire.com/quilted-foam-backing-black-fabric.aspx I might actually switch over at some point. Quote
Whittie Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Genuine New 280z console with lid Mines buggered, mine sharing where you found yours??!!! Quote
Stivva Posted June 29, 2012 Author Posted June 29, 2012 http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/230818072363?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649#ht_623wt_984 Whittie, check the link above. $200 delivered. Thanks for that link Saxon, thats exactly what I need. Quote
handsandwhich Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Cheap freight for such a large fragile item. I assume the lid opens the 'wrong' way and you need to re-hinge it the 'right' way? Quote
saxon Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 No worries Stivva. I got one too that hinges this way. Would hardly be worth rehinging it. There are oem ones for RHD that hinge the right way I've seen but at more than double the cost. Not worth it I thought. Quote
Stivva Posted June 29, 2012 Author Posted June 29, 2012 Yeah, apparently Aus Post have been kicking up a stink because they are fielding the extra postage costs from America/Australia's international parcels. So If US Post costs $30 to cover US to Delivery but it costs AUS post an extra $30 from the airport to the address, Aus Post have to pay the difference. We might see a change of operations soon for large international parcels. As for the hinge, I will leave it, unless its a straight swap. It doesn't bother me which way it opens. Quote
Stivva Posted June 29, 2012 Author Posted June 29, 2012 I agree Saxon, I only want it for the neatness really, not to use. Quote
Whittie Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Just satisfied my daily shopping urge, thanks for the link Not fussed about the hinge. I use the console for a pen and wallet/phone, but the lid is not all that tall so I don't really mind, it's just to look better than my horrendously cracked and butchered copy. Quote
Stivva Posted June 29, 2012 Author Posted June 29, 2012 I agree wholeheartedly. I also have some other links for those wishing to improve their consoles and interiors. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/150844678679?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649#ht_2374wt_1026 http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/150846082101?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 He combines postage too. The two items were $80 including postage. Now if only I could find some unbutchered door trims. Quote

I have seen one that looks more retro and has all the USB stuff Quote
zzzzed Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Check these out http://www.classiccarstereo.co.uk/classic-car-audio.html Quote
Stivva Posted June 29, 2012 Author Posted June 29, 2012 I was under the impression that perhaps I could remove the faceplate? They look great though, what one is closest to original? Quote
