MaygZ Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 Ta. Funky looking shape. I would guess Pinnafarina design? Quote
acf321 Posted March 16, 2011 Author Posted March 16, 2011 Hey .. I just found another car painted in McLaren Papaya Yellow, same colour as the Hornet. Couldn't help myself! Adam Quote
Brabham Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 I love that traditional McLaren orange - looks awesome, they should go back to it in F1. Quote
acf321 Posted March 17, 2011 Author Posted March 17, 2011 I've been thinking about the brakes ... I don't think the Hornet will stop well enough! (See Lurch & others .. I DO listen) An extremely good mate helped me with a new set and i'm incredibly grateful. They need a clean up, and repaint, but I think they'll do the job. I'll run them on the solids to start with, then if I need some more stopping grunt, will go vented. I also got these OEM headlight covers from the same great mate.. I think they'll give the car the right period look. Cheers Adam Quote
Brabham Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 What are the calipers off Adam? I was thinking about headlight covers and those ones look nice but I did not want to drill the holes in my nice nosecones Dilemmas of zed restoration... Quote
benny Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 IIRC the mk63 were the 4 pot bolton upgrade for the sportoption. Very pricey these days!! Quote
acf321 Posted April 8, 2011 Author Posted April 8, 2011 Week whatever .... Went out to Penrith last weekend to meet Andy at Penrith Muffler Man to have a chat. The tuned length firing order system is still front of mind, but in the interim, I have a mate that has had some exhaust systems made up in Europe. These systems are available in left and right side applications, and are 1 3/4" dia primaries and about 29" length. Collectors are 2.5" and i'll let you be the judge of whether they are pretty or not. The idea behind these is that you can get to the track and pop off the mufflers (911 style) to eek out a few more horses for the race. Finish the race, pop the muffler back on, and drive (sans bleeding ears) back to your destination. Not that this is my plan for these, but I have been 'offered' a set to trial on my car as a promotional / test case. That's not something that's happened to me before, but I'm feeling mighty tempted. Mmmm decisions decisions. First two are the RHD set, with the later being the LHD mocked up on an old motor. Interested in your thoughts. Quote
Sirpent Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 "My Precious" or as Simon would say "Pretty Shinny Things" Adam very impressive from a visual point of view and look the goods, but Peter Mc or David (Katokid) would probably be the better judges. Cheers John Quote
peter mc Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 nice i like the v band joins is it 2.5 all the way .look like a nice system is it pricey...it will be good for the fast road car with the long secondary pipes Quote
salty Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 Adam, I thought the headers you had chosen were in firing order? the ones in the fotos arent Quote
KatoKid Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 Adam, do you really need to ask! Close enough to L series porn. Quote
MaygZ Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 Oh pretty shiny things I think he was referring to the less cerebral of the Simons I like shiny things. Very nice. Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted April 8, 2011 Moderators Posted April 8, 2011 I like the headers in the bottom pic; very much like the Nissan works item. Perfect for a twin system. Quote
PZG302 Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 Adam, if the headers are freebies with no shipping costs, would be worth trialling and comparing to what Andy could come up with. Otherwise stick to Andy's system as it will be bespoke to your car and how you want the motor to behave. There is a good reason that when my headers are no longer serviceable I will be travelling from Brisbane to get a new set made by Andy. Quote
acf321 Posted April 10, 2011 Author Posted April 10, 2011 Manufacturer just sent me this photo. This is the LHD set, which to my eyes looks the best of the two. Quote
acf321 Posted April 20, 2011 Author Posted April 20, 2011 Another nice 'quick bit' arrived today. Its in perfect order, and appears to have only 8000 or so KLMs on it. I like the yellow and red graduations like the tach, and wanted it specifically given all the speed camera's we're graced with here in Sydney! Should have the Mk63's and Light Covers in the coming week or two, so these should be able to go in soon. Quote
PZG302 Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 Noice!!!! The odometer shouldn't be a problem to reset. When I got my R/T cluster refurbished for the Chugger the guys that did the work also reset the odometer to 0 for me. Quote
benny Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 hook it up to a drill and once it hits 99999 it will reset to 0 i think Quote

mossy Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 If your still considering the Stahl headers Adam it looks like you would need to get your order in by June 1 http://stahlheaders.com/index.htm Quote
specialp3 Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 Hi Adam, I thought you had a local guy who could make the headers? Thinking of getting a s et of the header below, might need more hp but they look pretty...... Quote
