Hey, I own a 2007 Nissan 350z now which I realised has 221KW to it's name if I drive like a grandma till my opens could I get away with driving this. It is the only car currently I can drive so would it be better to apply for an exemption? I need to use the car to traverse to work and back. Also do license plate checks show that this car is P plate banned. Cheers for any replies.

You could get away with driving it.

Or you could be pulled up / fined / lose licence / etc.

Or you could have an accident and be up for tens of thousands of $$$$ to repair someone else's car because your insurance (you have got insurance, right ????) is invalid.

Or you could injure someone in an accident and be up for hundreds of thousands of $$$$.

Your call.

So how are you going to get insurance now that you've bought a car that is over the power limit that your allowed.

You did get the bit where I tried to point out that no matter what / how you got insurance, that insurance cover will be null and void if you are driving a vehicle that you aren't legally allowed to drive ? ie you don't have any insurance while you are behind the wheel ????

You would potentially need to contact the insurance company anyway to make sure you are covered, even if you do manage to get an exemption - exemption only means the RTA / whatever its called in Qld is OK with you driving, doesn't automatically guarantee the insurance company will be OK with it.......

Yes and asking a forum about P plate exemption laws seems like the wrong Avenue for advice. Possibly talk to the RTA to get their feedback on exemptions etc..

I told you a series 3 was illegal in your other thread. You can't get an exemption for it, that's just for turbos that have a low kw/ton rating.

Except four of my friends in QLD who are mechanics have 350z made in 2007 with an exemption????

So far everyone says no. Those ‘friends’ can’t tell you a way around, rather than asking on a public forum?
