I just spoke to John the owner listed in the advertisement, for those of you that are faint of heart, suffer blood pressure problems, fainting spells, etc etc etc take the next moment to take a deeeeeeeeeeeeeeep breathe!

The LOST TRIBE has been found, he has "13" Zeds !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

He is in Melbourne at the moment and wont be home until Tuesday night, and as I am home Wednesday due to the fact that Im having Insulation installed in the morning, I have arranged to drive up there after lunch time.

 

So watch this space, the digital camera will be clicking the landscape like mad and I will try to survey all of them and collect VIN / Production dates as I go.

 

Interestingly, he asked me, very inocently I may add, "Do you know how much they are worth?'

 

I said I would give an honest appraisal on them.

What's this guy playing at?

The only reasons I can think of are-

1) that when people come to pick it up, it doesn't live up to expectations from the listing. So the buyer can walk away. But from the pics, it looks to be quite a nice car.

2) he is wanting more money for it.

I'm a bit far to check it out myself, but could be good. Looks like he has a potential Aladdin's cave over there. Looks like another 2 seater next to that 2+2 never know you could pick up a cheap 2 seater just by heading down for a look-see.

 

The one next to it is an auto 260Z.  It too is so tired it's almost in a coma.  He has 11 Zeds all up.  One is a monster turbo giant, that stripped the thread on the g'box input shaft!!  He wont sell that one tho  :'(

 

I have posted photos of a red 240Z of his previously.  He has LOTS of stuff, but it is ALL very tired.  He does seem to have realistic prices on them so far.  that is until we as a group over-inflate them to ensure we get them!

He is a really nice bloke.  He was VERY reluctant to sell any of his Zeds.  It took me quite a while to convince him to offer some items for sale.  He was a past member of NDSOC and would get swamped by blokes wanting everything for nothing.  I honestly believe that if he gets pumped for stuff, or attempts are made to score the bargain of a lifetime, then this aladdins cave will shut and will not open again.

 

He's not looking to retire on the back of the Zeds (or his other cars), so I ask that people offer reasonable value for things and keep the cave open.

Has anyone had a look at this car?  Is it as neat as it appears in photos?  I don't want to start another debate on the choice of colour or the fen shui of the vinyl roof: just want to know if the car is in good knick.

I went up to see John today to buy a couple of parts, top bloke and very easy to talk too.

 

I got breath tested, the first thing the officer said was how long have you had this for? Z admirers are everywhere!

Here are some 280zx's. I guess the first guy is thinking he can put the price up on the back of the 240z/260z prices. Even the cars around 5-6k take ages to sell and usually drop a fair bit in price. But each to their own.

not so, my mate bought it.. went down with him to pick it up last thursday night.. so it is definately sold and gone

 

the car is in suprisingly good condition, result of a full resto.. however there are a few paint imperfections here and there.. also a bit of rust.. but it goes like stink and has a tonne of work done to it! colour doesn't look as bad in person either

 

really surprised it hadn't gone previously (my mate was the 2nd in line for the last auction for it too).. previous bidder apparently couldn't get the loan he expected to pay for it.. the seller was actually suprised that we turned up!
