Shan Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 bwaahahaha! Nice one. Ah well....gotta love a guy with ambition. Now all I have to do is find a knackered and rusted out 240z shell! Should be able to get at least 15K for it. Easy. Jokes aside, I suppose these things are the early signs of what is to come. A good thing for Z owners. Not so good if you are still hunting for the right one like me. *sigh* Patience Shan, patience. Quote

C.A.R. Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 50k with an interior like that? Why hasen't a pair of race bucket seats been fitted? Fail. Could at least have cleaned it up... Quote
luvemfast Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 50k with an interior like that? Why hasen't a pair of race bucket seats been fitted? Fail. Could at least have cleaned it up... Why fit race seats when its an auto anyway? Quote
Vindicare Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 Considering what mayhem's car sold for, 50k? 10+ yr old paint, un-certified FULL cage(not registrable over here without club racer rego and very limited on road use ie rally car), stock uni's in rear. Seemed a bit much for me, engine bay doesn't even look clean :\ That's all I can remember that let me down when I called the dude when it first went on the market. Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted March 9, 2010 Moderators Posted March 9, 2010 What puts me right off is the 3 speed auto.. is it a Trimatic? with all that cash spent, you'd think a manual trans would have been fitted at the very least. Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted March 9, 2010 Moderators Posted March 9, 2010 Oops! but still...auto. Great if you have a (non alcoholic ) drink in your left hand. Quote
chris240 Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 lets not crucify the guy. This car appeared in Fast Fours & Rotaries a little while ago...after reading the write-up, I was very impressed with the rebuild and the goodies that went into it...the rebuild on the Jatco was a no-expense spared USA built.. I just dont know where he spent $120k hopefully its a typo. Quote
NZeder Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 that car was in zooom mag a number of years back Quote
RB30X Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 I just dont know where he spent $120k hopefully its a typo. Cheque book racer? Quote
BenZed Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 I'd prefer this for $20k http://yahoo.kurumaerabi.com/html/20000202/77/image.html Quote

Pigpen Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Cheque book racer? I see this thing parked out the front of a Drag racing fabrication shop in Penrith pretty regualrly. Perhaps that is where the $$$ went, paying someone to figure out how to cram those two turbos in. I can't say that I have ever seen it on the street though ... Mick Quote
68GTCS Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Must say that George's 350 convert is better. Not that I've ever seen it but the stories I've heard even from blokes that dislike zeds it is one car I'd love to see. I think it will become a thing of legend. Quote
Vindicare Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 When I called he said he worked at a drag fab shop, so i'm gonna say he did most of the work himself. Did you guys see the turbo manifold when he first listed it, ugliest thing I've ever seen. Personally, I think he's made up that 120k figure. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted March 11, 2010 Author Administrators Posted March 11, 2010 I'd prefer this for $20k http://yahoo.kurumaerabi.com/html/20000202/77/image.html Yeah man, that's cheap if you ask me. Especially in EURO . Although if I brought it to the Emerald Isle I'd have to pay friggin VAT on it I think. Then again its vintage so maybe not? Quote

I tend to agree mate, overpriced considering the condition its in. It probably has more rust than the description states also. A few years ago there would be no way you could ask more than $2k for a car like this. I will be very interested to see how the car at Shannons auctions goes, because that's a car that's worth the extra penny and it should set a price for what an original, unmolested 240z is worth. I think this guy would be lucky to get $5k for this project. However you never know right? Quote
C.A.R. Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 Saw this 'early girl' on MY105 - good buying I reckon: http://www.my105.com.au/classified.asp?id=14573 Anyone on here know the car? Quote
