Mr Camouflage Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 So you're suggesting this is actually an improvement? <waits patiently for inevitable wrath of disgruntled bus drivers> LOL. No I mean, at least is wasn't a 2 seater they mutilated. And now for something completely different, another dreamer, good for a laugh: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330423213156 Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted April 22, 2010 Author Administrators Posted April 22, 2010 Sunroof.. - $10,000 Auto... - $3000 $12,000+ should be a good place to start negotiations.. At that starting price, I want a front bumper damn it. Agree 12k would be more reasonable, but even then it might be optimistic as suggested. $12,000+ should be a good place to start negotiations.. Still dreaming.. New Paint hidding alot of rust, Why would someone paint a all Original 240z than sell it saying all Original that should be one of the high selling points the orignal paint and seeing the rust or lack of it.. All these high priced zeds never seem to sell thats why they stay on carsales etc for ever. I couldn't agree more. All those cars that sit on carsales.com.au are there because they are still essentially a project car. I'm all for Z values going up, but no one in their right mind is going to pay $20,000 for a Z that still needs restoration. LOL. No I mean, at least is wasn't a 2 seater they mutilated. And now for something completely different, another dreamer, good for a laugh: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330423213156 God loves people who try! Quote

Moderators Zedman240® Posted April 30, 2010 Moderators Posted April 30, 2010 You hope they haven't butchered it too much to fit the 308 like the trans tunnel or gearbox mounts. I'm thinking around the 7-8K mark on this one.. Quote
kobes Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 now up to $2,200 ... I agree good first Zed, lets hope it likes it over in W.A Quote
Hammer Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 I have a feeling somehow if the price of this Z doesn't go high, it will be pulled out from eBay. Citing that it's advertised elsewhere etc. I've had so many experience, where I thought I'd get a bargain only to get a notification at the last moment, that the buyer has cancelled the auction. Administrators gav240z Posted April 30, 2010 Author Administrators Posted April 30, 2010 Orange 240z on Carsales.com.au - think it was also advertised here. http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/private/details.aspx?R=8658027 Asking $14k Running an L26 with twin SU's. Car is used as a daily and has had a tune recently. Running well with no mechanical issues, apart from "needing" an electronic point distributor - currently running the old type found on early L26's, which is not particularly efficient. Reasonably original, unrestored 1973 240z. 260z wheels, mx5 seats and aftermarket steering wheel are only mods. Interior in good condition with 3 small cracks in the dash and 1 crack in the centre console. Body is in good condition and has extremely minimal rust. Great to restore or as a daily (current disposition). Selling due to new job needing a modern car that portrays a more professional image and cannot afford to keep the zed. Quote

ScottyB Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 now up to $2,200 ... I agree good first Zed, lets hope it likes it over in W.A Great - a bidding war. I would be one of 30 people who want to buy this then? lol Quote
NZeder Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 Advertising as modified production racer with cage and its an auto? Nothing wrong with racing an Auto 240z my first track car was an auto 240z. It did teach you corner speed as with a 3 speed you needed to have good corner speed to get a good drive out the other side as you did not have right ratio's (really only had 2 gears as first was only used for off the line). So a 5spd was install later in the cars life Quote
BenZed Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 Couple of minters here: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Datsun-240z-Sports-/140403787624?cmd=ViewItem&pt=AU_Cars&hash=item20b0b7c768 I think I saw that yellow 'donor car' a few years back in Merrylands. Had trouble spotting where the rust wasn't Quote

Link is broken Why does it run an L24 with 2 barrel carby? Quote
zanzee01 Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 Whoopsie thanks hammer This is the guff I got from the bloke who owns it; He is an electrician and he re-wired the whole car, the ignition is down on that metal strip next to the handbrake with some other switches and dials he put there. He turned the original ignition barrel into an audible indicator alarm. It needs a new windscreen, has no rust 'considering' it is a 35 yr old car? Don't know what he meant by that He put the L24 motor in it 2 years ago (not engineered for rego) The L26 was smokey so he took it out to check the rings, found nothing, and so he is assuming it is the valve stems It has a good manual sunroof, it has no badges at all, no idea when it was last registered, cracked dash, good suspension, good motor, good gearbox, doesn't know how many ks it's done The sub floor damage he is talking about is damage to the chassis rails (he thinks this may be from rallying) that the mehchanics wont pass for rwc Will not negotiate under $4k. Worthwhile do you think? Quote
stevo_gj Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 With the auto 260zs that are around- can you get a manual box put into them? (I know this is probably a silly question for all you clever fellas). Am considering whether or not it is worthwhile buying an auto and having it converted to a manual... any idea of cost for that? Thanks It is a bit of a silly question since in the gearbox section there is a thread titled something like: "How To Convert Your Gearbox from Auto to Manual". It can cost between $400 and $2000 depending on how much of the work you do yourself and how much you pay for parts. Also regarding the car. It sounds like you need to look at it to ascertain the condition of the body. L24 motor doesn't need engineering for Rego, is that what he was trying to say? New windscreen is free if you insure through shannons. Sunroof usually means rust and at some point is going to require a bit of work and $$. It could be worthwhile but unless you are confident about how much fixing all of the issues is going to cost (ie get a mechanic and panel beater to inspect and quote for the work) then I wouldn't take the risk of buying it. zanzee01 Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 Sorry stevo_gj, have removed. : ) Thanks for your help! Quote
Mr240z Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 Quote from Stevo New windscreen is free if you insure through shannons. Not 100% true, your still paying for it in the long run. Was told a story from a insider.(can't say it on here). If you don't claim windscreen there is a different. p.s wheather the story is true is yet to be seen.. Quote
