That car is in the same area as me.... in fact just around the corner from my house. I have not seen it yet, but wasn't sure if it was the car for me. I was pretty keen, but not perhaps for 8k, any ones thoughts on this?

I was worried about the floor, I think he said it was glassed over... I could look at it if anyone wanted.

I think this guy keeps bidding aganst himself to try and get an indication of it's value, not a great way to conduct your Ebay selling but I guess it's his right.  With what other ebay 240's have been selling for I think his 8G reserve may get another 1K on top but then I think thats about it for an unrestored 'roughie'

Best just to go out see the car in the flesh and hagle with him.

Remember he can always end the sale early and sell privately.

I guess I will give him a bell today and see if I can go inspect it. I have the money ready now, and this would be a good base considering the wheels and L28 and its pretty much all I was after.

Is there anything I should look for guys?

I'm happy to check anything out as I'm just down the road and know just about every rust prone area on a Zed,let me know.

Oh, where abouts are you from, perhaps we could take a look together and you could advise me? What days are good for you?

Well, I just rang Tom, who seems like a nice bloke (albeit, with a bad stutter) asked him a few questions a bout the 240z.

He has a reserve of about 10g ( i think that may be a bit high).

The car has an aftermarket cam shaft which he described as very lumpy.

The passenger side floor pan has had rust before which he had welded and glassed in the past.

No rust in the battery tray apparently.

Most gauges work (most of the time, clock is dodgy and oil pressure can be intermittent.

It is what I want, and off to a nice start (with the cam and simmons) but I am not sure if 10g is too much (still new to the scene guys), anyone got any opinions on this?

10G is worth it for the overspray on the badges...

:-\

It seems overpriced to me, but then again, the last time I bought a 240Z was in '98

WHY it's RH drive? from the US.

Anyone know if these cam be register here in OZ. I figured since the same car was available here in Oz you can't register it as a RH drive

I'd almost consider this one - until I saw the price...

A good quality LHD 240Z wouldn't be worth $25kAUD surely...

And anyone who's anyone knows how much poetic license that particular yard takes with their sales pitches.

And how on earth can it be a 'concourse winning car' with downdraught carburettors?

/soapbox off...

So I went and had a look anyway. First ride in a Z too! Woo.

Its got no rust, the interior is not great, no carpet, a smashed parker light lense, no Z badge from the bonnet, driver interior door lock falls down and locks itself.

The paint is different shades of orange. The hatch doesn't hold up. Rear tyres are bald.

But he wont budge from 10g, he has a 1600 and 260z rally car, and a million parts, he knows his car isn't worth 3g, but I don't think its worth 10 either.

That green thing has been on Ebay about 10 times in the last few months, and I'm not exaggerating... Okay, maybe I am a little, maybe it's only 7 times.....  But seriously, I don't think it has ever run the full length of the auction before it gets pulled.

I had a bid as well. I wonder how long it'll take for him to pull it again. It looks great with the 2 tone paint job though.  8)

It's not 2 tone...It is now painted in a Honda metallic green with the original cream vinyl roof,

Looks good thou..I'm pretty sure the he wants high teens for it..

If he would like it go the whole auction, which he won't.

cos it has been on so many times, i have a reply saying it is defiantly for sale this time ebay only no advertised elsewhere

Yeah, I am not keen on the colour or vinyl roof, but thats just me. I want something a bit more 'subtle'

It is a bit different.... If someone said to me they were going to paint a zed green with a white vinyl roof, I would probably barf....  But seeing it in the photos, I actually quite like it, although I would have liked the green to be one or two shades darker.  Looks tidy though, and very distinctive...
