My thoughts too.  If the reserve was $1k, id be tempted for a muck around car. The Windsor aint that bad an engine and who cares about looks when you are just throwing it around

The zed he prefers to be wrapped around a pole rather than being restored by a "Walter".. Don't follow his logic. Maybe we should start a "HQ" type class for racing zeds to deplete what's left of any remaining zed panels and parts. That may make him happy.

He doesn't want someone buying his work and turning it back into an original.

It was modified to be driven, not to be taken to concours events.

know the guy and seen his build on the z garage. we used to lock horns 1jZ vs RB26 all the time. than he quit and looks like joined hybridz.

 

than he disapeared. and now pops up on ebay... LOL

ive seen some sad stories about mutalation like that it is sad but then again what ever floats your boat, my mind if you want a super fast car buy a new clubsport or GT-P dont go destroying classic cars and putting different make engines in them etc. then again im a person who loves a good restored car, not some mutalation that hardly has a centimeter of orginality to it, P.S. I know the spelling is bad today, really cant be bothered correcting.... hence why i do a science degree.....

They don't have the style or soul of a datsun though.  The Z was built as a supercar of it's time. What is wrong with getting it to the point where it can play with the current super cars.

Are you complaining for the sake of complaining? I was voicing my opinion I have the right to one so SHHHHHHHHHH. All I was saying is its sometimes sad when people go destroy great engineering and design and go destroy a nice original car for the sake of trying to make it like something it isn't. My opinion i'm sure there are others like me to who prefer a un-moded datsun over one that has sparts of other makes and models etc. But dont dig a me for a opinion.

Just re-read my post, because I wasn't complaining when I wrote it. And after re-reading it, I don't see where you think I am complaining or having a dig at you.

 

I was just questioning why people were bagging out another guys car/motives (Opinion as you put it). Was also answering some of your hypotheticals and posing some of my own back for you.

on serious note. hey the car is done great sure its hell fast and will clean up 97% of the cars that come near it.

 

ive chated with good old Splatt during the build and though he does like his numbers and the car does perform we like it or not with that toyota engine.

 

i understand his posting and respect it. he doesnt want to waste time with someone complaining why he did it and killed a classic.lets face it its still a datsun.

 

he made a car that is performance orientated and still looks the hots. i rather buy that than a supra or newish skyline or v8 commonwhore or falcon.

 

that one has lot of work done to it to get where it is. otherwise it be rusting in the paddock.

 

its his car and his money. if he didnt get it it would have been destined for simsmetal and returned to china and than returned back to us as cheap crap toolboxes. i rather see it like it is even with toyota engine.

 

we not talkin about a rare shelby GT or a XYGTHO or carrera RS or ferrari GTO. its a cheap good looking car with right engine can tear up the cars costing 50times more.

 

guys with stock and concourse correct cars my hat goes down to you as well (the first line above was a silly joke)

 

what you guys do is damn hard. personaly never do it but we still need guys like u to preserve at least a few deserving original cars.

 

if wasnt for the hotrod style moding crowd like myself and Splatt and quite a few here (most of them), lot of datos would be 1m2 compressed lump of steel.

 

anyway enough of rant good luck to Splatt selling his car.

 

Lets face it both the stock car and moded car owners have to learn to co exist. there is no right or wrong.

well only part original in my car is the shell. 

 

everything else is of newer cars. 2 years on the road no major breakdown and it hoots. (well clutch was changed but ive installed a crappy one to begin with)  . . wouldnt have it any other way. cheap to run and goes of the clappers no worry about cold starts or flooding the engine. nothing to touch for so called tune up. again the way i like it. modern internals with classic outside.

 

so i better not tell u what are my plans for the 240z than. 

 

that 260z on ebay 2+2 well hes right its unique and one of a kind. (no one will be stupid again to do that to an s30)

I'm not against modding by any means.... after all I just removed a RB25 motor from my zed! I just didn't like the way he commented about returning this car back to stock or modified with an L series engine. He'd rather see it at a scrapyard than returned to stock. I don't wipe my car down with a nappy and caress it.. I give mine the good ol' caning at the track now and then. If I bought it, I could do whatever I wanted with it..out of spite though..

I like both original and modified, many of us here own one or the other or both and are not limited to just Z cars either, a lot of us own all manner of marques with mods and shoe horned engines

yeah xa im keeping an eye on oozla's project too. that be an animal once its complete. i see what my baby 2l in my s30 does. driven a xr6 turbo quite a few times.

 

s30 + barra 4L turbo = one big grin and one soiled pants.  watch out ferrari this one is eating you alive.

I'm not against the car. I just don't like the way he's written up his ebay advert. It makes him come across as some sort of nutter with an attitude. He either wants to sell the car or he doesn't, and whatever the new owner does with it it not his business once they have handed over the cash.
