All asking up toward $100k, I do wonder how sustainable that is? I'd love 1, but not at that kind of money.

 

Of course people who know me, know I'm bearish on Australian Real Estate and we're seeing cooling of the market right now, I do wonder if people are flogging off toys first?

 

Hard to predict the future, but if we have a real estate correction, you can be sure that the Classic Car market over here will go down with it. How far that adjustment is, will depend entirely on the make and model and if there is global appeal for it.

 

Aussie Muscle Cars in other words will probably see a bigger correction (in my humble opinion) where as the Classic Japanese stuff has a more global audience.

Priced quite low for a reason it seems. I know someone that went and had a look, small rust hole in the firewall. Lots of bubbling rust on the hatch and in general. Rust in the chassis rail, which looked to be repaired poorly. Few other bad points which I forget now, but you get the idea.

1977 Nissan Datsun 280Z 2 Seater – L28 4 Speed Manual – A/C!

 

- Up for sale I have a completely stock 77 Datsun 280Z 2 seater, the good one not the ugly 2+2. This is a 100% entirely rust free original California car. The car could be registered and enjoyed as is or it would make a perfect base for a restoration or custom project. The car has been imported from California, it has import approval and can be registered without being converted to RHD.

 

- The car has a stock factory fuel injected L28 and a 4 speed manual gear box. The car starts and runs good, the motor seems tight and doesn’t blow any smoke. It has been sitting unused for a couple of years and could do with an injector clean and service but it runs, drives, shifts and brakes fine.

 

- The car has factory A/C which works good and still blows cold.

 

- The body of the car is in fantastic condition, the floors, boot floor, sills, rails, hatch, doors, window surrounds etc are all dry clean and entirely rust free. Everything is original with no rust or replacement patches of any kind.

 

- The interior is original and worn as you would expect with a car of this age, the dash top has afew cracks but the dash is complete and everything works. The carpet throughout is new.

 

- All lights, wipers, gauges etc work fine as they should.

 

- The car has been resprayed at some point, the paint is nothing special but is glossy and nice and tidy, with only minor stone chips etc, no rust bubbles.

 

- I also have the ugly factory bumpers that came off the car if wanted.

 

- This is a very clean unmolested car and even has the factory space saver, jack, tool kit and tire inflator in the boot. These two seater models are becoming very hard to find in good condition and are very sought after.

Is it just me or does anyone else agree that $24K is a bit steep for a lefty 280??

It sounds to be a good sound car, and no doubt the price listed is a starting point. But I can't see it being at all viable if someone wants RHD and would want to convert it, by the time they find a donor car and do all the work etc etc.

As for the chunky US bumpers, I've seen 'Euro-style' bumper kits advertised by a USA supplier, but don't know quite how they work with the 280Z frame rail structures and what surgery is required.

This car started out its life in California, I brought it here 6 years ago. I was completely rust free. I have many other photos upon request. The engine was running great but I had it pulled and proffesionally rebuilt by an engine rebuilder in Redcliffe. I have the reciepts to show. While the engine was out we stripped the car and did a full paint job. The interior is ALL new. The dash is flawless. This car is so much fun to drive. It sounds awesome with the tripple webers. I also have the origanal SU's that have been rebuilt professionally by Carbtech in Kippa Ring. A lot of car for the money. It also has the original airconditioner that was installed by the dealer. It also has been rebuilt here in brisbane.

Painted in 2015 and so is in very nice condition (a few small chips and a scratch on the bonnet that isn't really visible beyond a few metres).
