CBR Jeff
Hey guys just quickly, what is considered a low number car? I'm currently restoring a HS30 01724. Is this considered low, or is low, a car that is sub HS30 01000? Not looking to sell but it would be nice to know. Sub 1000. But lower the better if that floats your boat. Administrators gav240z Posted April 1, 2016 Author Administrators Share Posted April 1, 2016 Hey guys just quickly, what is considered a low number car? I'm currently restoring a HS30 01724. Is this considered low, or is low, a car that is sub HS30 01000? Not looking to sell but it would be nice to know. All 240z's are worth saving and very rare now. Approx 3000 or so made it here originally. I estimate that 10-20% of all cars have survived. So between 300-600 cars. Many of those survivors haven't been on the road for a long time. Of the survivors how many are original? When you consider the engine swaps, body and interior mods etc.. Then consider 1970 cars and the fact their serial number went up to HS30 00500 (last car to get vented hatch), the early girl bingo thread gives us a sense of what is left and I'm still surprised what is in the process of being discovered and accounted for.. For me personally a true Unicorn car is any car with a number But everyone is different. CBR Jeff
daretobedifferent
That's some interesting stats there Gav! I'm restoring it either way even if it isn't a low numbers car. Aiming to keep the exterior of the car stock, but everything else modified. Edited April 2, 2016 by daretobedifferent
Administrators gav240z Posted April 2, 2016 Author Administrators Share Posted April 2, 2016 Don't take my numbers as the gospel, rather that's my observation. The only way to know for sure is to continue collecting data.

Gtv240z
240z for sale in Port Lincoln SA Asking: $27,800.00 http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/port-lincoln-5606/cars-vans-utes/1971-datsun-240z-coupe/1109206720 6/1971 240Z, chassis 000855, drives well, will come with 3 months rego in SA, personalised plates RZZ 240 do not come with the car, but will have current SA rego plates on it. Previous owner had owned for a number of years, and it would appear to have been off the road since 1998 whilst he did the refurb/restoration. Paintwork is very good, seats have been retrimmed, but not quite to to original, not a concourse car, but certainly a good driver. I purchased with intention of keeping it for a bit of retirment fun, but my circumstances have changes, so unfortunately I really need to let it go, getting hard to find, and is in bloody good condition for a 45 year old car !! May suit 260Z Purchaser as well !! gav240z, Groundhog and datoman

Administrators gav240z Posted April 5, 2016 Author Administrators Share Posted April 5, 2016 Did 240z come in a colour like this from factory? The Fairlady 240Z and 240ZG came in GP Maroon which is similar, but probably a darker red colour. But our market didn't get a similar burgundy until the 260z was released. Administrators gav240z Posted April 6, 2016 Author Administrators Share Posted April 6, 2016 240K Coupe Inner West Sydney. $24,000.00http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/canada-bay-area/cars-vans-utes/1975-datsun-240k-coupe-factory-manual-matching-no-s/1109270701 I tried to call the phone number says it's disconnected, my partner works with an SMS company and says the phone number could be a 'virtual number'. So we suspect it could be a scam. Up for sale is a 240k C110 factory manual with AC matching no's car.The car was a good base to start with, it had very little rust in it. The previous owner generally stripped it to bare metal and had the car painted in a light grey. The prep work was not perfect and shows in some areas, all panels need alignment, the car could be resprayed or assembled as is. the car requires assembly and detailing of all items. It is a five speed manual with extractors (no exhaust) and matching number motor. The seats will require re-trimming as will the hood lining, door cards are good, dash has been re-covered and has no cracks. There is no front windscreen and the passenger door lock is missing. The Watanabees in the photos are NOT included.Car is located in inner west Sydney.Dont waste my time or yours.PRICE IS NOT NEGOTIABLE. specialp3
If anyone wants to go to Belconnen tip in the ACT, I dumped about 6 240k's there about 27 years ago.... If I paid more than $250.00 for a coupe it was too much. I used to drive them to the tip, take out the front struts and diff and leave the car behind. I feel bit silly now. New 240z listing just hit car sales http://www.carsales.com.au/dealer/details/_/OAG-AD-12645672?WT.seg_4=AutoAlert;PCAA&sdmvc=1&utm_campaign=bau&utm_medium=email&utm_source=transact&utm_content=autoalert&wt.z_driver=Email_SearchAlert It changed the face of the Japanese car industry, electrified international motoring media and is now one of the few Japanese sports cars highly sought after by classic car collectors, the Datsun 240Z.A potent mix of high-revving, 2.4 litre inline six power, sharp and rakish body architecture along with relative affordability is what made the 240Z explode onto the sports car market in 1969 and still get hearts racing today. This Australian Datsun 240Z, delivered new on the sixteenth of May of 1972 by Lennock Motors, Canberra features its original warranty/service booklet and was ordered in Metallic Silver over black leather interior with 5 speed manual transmission. This is a genuine two owner vehicle from new with the last owner having the car since 1990. Offering an excellent drive with great road presence to match this very original 240Z is still in beautiful condition. Benefitting in 1990 from paintwork refurbishment in the factory colour, this example still holds original components highlighting the original build quality and how well the car has been maintained. The timber steering wheel, choke lever, factory scratch plates, factory dash, dials and radio are all present and working. Outside, the panel and chrome bumper fit and finish is excellent and the numbers matching engine retains its factory spec and original carburettors. Minor and reversible modifications include alloy wheels and brighter headlights. Accompanying the car is an extensive history file with receipts detailing meticulous maintenance as well as the factory vinyl wallet holding the original delivery, warranty and stamped service booklet. Lovingly maintained by the second owner for the last 26 years, this vehicle is for the enthusiast and collector that wants a beautiful and original right hand drive 240Z which are becoming hugely popular here and internationally and very hard to find. gav240z, datoman and aj_

Yes I do that with posts in this thread. It's not the easiest thing to do, but I try and do it before the car is sold or disappears so we have some record of it. Trying to work out the early console (and hand throttle) on a 72..... There was another Silver 240z for sale via the same group a little while ago around $52,000 but these are not the same cars. Or at least I don't think they are. The other was a 73 240z with the indicators above the bumpers, this car is a 71 with hand throttle and early console (so it should have a 71A gearbox also unless it was changed). This car also has fender mirrors (as it should) and the 73 did not.
