  1. AZC has them. They also do ones that incorporate a 10mm shorter distance to pivot point steering arm version. It quickens steering, a little, but, also requires a bit more effort at low speed. Be aware that these are alloy, and will require a bolt tightening check after every few uses.
  2. Kameari Engine Works Northside of Tokyo metro area, train station approx 10 mins by taxi from their retail shop Not much English, but they enjoy looking at your Datsun photos!
  3. Best bit is the Datsun 2000, but, i am a bit biased! Have recently retired from 20 odd years of circuit racing and rallying, We're a pretty good bunch of blokes on here, you'll fit right in. One of our guys has been in Oregon, but now down in San Diego, catching up with Mick Spreadbury, the Scoville's, and a few other Roadster guys there. Yep, he's a racer too!
  4. And full of those massive American Horsepowaz too! It's like an old boys geriatric club.
  5. You may need longer studs, if you find that a washer, a spring washer, a nut, on top of your exhaust flange, is a bit lacking. I can supply sets of longer correct threaded studs. You'll require a set of 6" Mini Stilsons ( baby pipe wrench) to remove the old ones, if they are a bit too tight.
  6. It is the front lower ( countershaft) brg, that is different.Input brgs are all same size.
  7. Wheel nuts for series 1 & 2, also 260Z mag, are all same. The flat washers very in thickness, slightly. If you need some, I can supply.
  8. Have sent pics through to your mobile
  9. Found out he got it through, they wanted the brake shoes and pads removed, nothing else, he has it home, very relieved He's ex Sth African, but the car is Californian. Looks very nce!
  10. Got some, but they are pressed into a bar. Redcliffe area

    Nsw & V8 For Rego

Got me beat why more didn't put the all alloy ( lighter than a six cyl Nissan) Leyland 4.4 litre V8 into more Z's. You can still buy these today, brand new, in crates, and they are easily punched out to five litre. They were also fitted to the Nissan President, an vergrown 280C Sedan! If you like old school! Or modern Nissan V8, VQ44? ( oh look,,, still that same 4.4 litre!)
  12. Wider, will not handle better. Run the next size up, if anything. Stock was 185 ( series 1 ZX "iron cross" 5.5" design) or a 195 if it was a Series 2 ZX rim ( 5 spoked 6" design) Either a 195 or a 205 width tyre in a 60 or 70 series profile If you want more grip, go to a 7" x15" and fit a 205/55 or a 225/50 Your rolling diameter will be close to standard.
  13. Nissan manufactured around 90,000 280Z's These were a regular S30 body, with regular 260Z mechanicals, it had ugraded wiring to accomodate the fuel injection. Other than that, it was a 260Z There is plenty of sales brochures, spec sheets, test reports in magazines etc, detailing the 280Z, fitted with L28. It's your triple Webers that they may have concern with, stupid, because, in 1977-78 there were other cars, sold new, in Australia, with multi weber carbs, ie Ferrari, Lamborghini,. However, these were standard production fitment
  14. Michael, have they been inspecting them, and any partial dismantling? The guy with the 260, has been told to bring equipment to allow inspectors to test. Maybe different department? Your pallet would have been LCL, and in a bond store. Rolling stock, whole containers, may go elsewhere? The South African guy is a bit concerned!
  15. Greg, those spring rates are good. Maybe go up in front bar to 24mm Run a standard size stock rear bar, and balance the over/understeer, by backing off the nylock nuts on the rear bar droplinks. In the wet, remove rear bar droplinks. Rim diam/tire o-all diam, and diff ratio will depend on what track you can attain max rpm in top gear at, before you brake for that circuits fastest corner Use/download a free software program called "Gearcalc" by a Peter Ogden, you enter car specs, it displays speed info and rpm drops between gearchanges. Play around with tire diam and diff ratio. If you havent sourced 15x8 rims, i have 2-3 sets, fitted with proper semi's that are ex my Z and another Datsun, can palletise and freight. Tassie is a bugger due to the crossing, for some reason on frieght charges. If you knew someone in Melb, can send there, to await your next trip ver?

    Gear Box

JDM Toy, yes, the later trans will fit, the shifter will poke up through the hole in the tunnel towards the front of the hole. You can gently bend the stick back a bit f reqd. The rubber boot and donsole soft covering/boot, will cover up this "forward" position.
  17. A recent arrival from South Africa, is bringing his 260Z with him, it has now arrived, they have already told him to source Australian sold front and rear bake pads/shoes, he contacted me, knowing I had plenty left over from Group S spec stuff, got him sorted. He has an appointment tomorrow with AQIS, for the cars approval, He has not been told whether he has to strip the engine ( gaskets, esp head gasket) and clutch plate. He has had his customs broker tell him that in last two months, AQIS have demanded cars be dismantled and parts relinquished, before cars are released. These were USA cars. His broker is not sure about a Japanese car, especially one that is sold cer, new, and there is an accepted spare parts supply for the Japanese cars as sold here. He'll let me know on Tuesday, what transpires,,,,,
  18. reckon I gave him that idea!Painted black, the look Ultra Pro!
  19. AP Racing use a thin wire coil spring sitting inside the caliper hole, with piston then inserted, Ie the spring is imersed in brake fluid. Spring, uncompressed is around 2" in length, once installed it gets compressed to approx 1/4" 4 per caliper Due to pads being forced against rotor, via springs, the pads have higher heat ranges Is a correct explanation. Last time I rebuilt them, was seven years ago.
  20. Mike, as I said above, bearing spacer/support, as well as the wedges welded in between strut tube and rear of calioer mount/stub bracket. Ken Graham does this. You'll still get some travel, i think it is just the nature of what you are working with The big AP calioers on the 120Y and the Mazda Sports Sedan, all have thin coil type springs between piston and back of pad, they work well, pads are a higher temp range, on both cars.

    Gear Box

I could have helped you out, but recently sold three 71A boxes in fully dissasembled state. Google search "Lou Mondello" he is a Datsun Roadster specialist, he will have stock of good used internal parts for 71A He is in the Moorabbin Victoria Australia area ( see you are in KL, he should ship overseas!)

    Gear Box

First gear will be 2.9 Same gearset as fitted to Datsun Roadsters with U20 motor. There were two Option ratio sets, a 2.5 first, and a 1.8 first, aka, " Mid Close" and " Ultra Close" Really couldn't see the 432 being fitted with the Option boxes, standard. The bellhousings are interchangeable between the boxes, to suit L, U and S motors
  23. Have you tried a different oil? Plenty have filled with Redline Lightweight Shockroof 90, ( smurf blood) with very good results. Gearbox rebuilders hate the stuff as it sticks everywhere inside the box, and is a bit hard to clean, on teardown. This oil quite often solves a noise issue. However, looking at bottom pic in your post, with red circle, IIRC there should be a spacer fitted before fifth countershaft gear, that lower gear usually does not sit that far forward..
