  1. Bit of hardwood, and a regular hammer, bit more effort Head to block will have round locator dowels, so dont go for a big sideways movement, more a dislodge from the top edge of head If the 14 headbolts came out nicely rust wont be a issue!
  2. Use the vented disc rotor from the Sylvia S13 model Turbo, it is 280mm diameter, and with a redrill to the PCD on the disc hub mount, will bolt straight onto the back of the 260Z stock hub. The S15 caliper, iirc, will bolt to the 260Z caliper mount ears, but will need longer bolts and flat hardened washers, to locate the caliper throat centrally over the rotor. Pads will overhang a touch, but no issue there. Easier option, though, and keeping the stock Z rotor, just bolt on a set of Toyota S12+8 four piston calipers, they will work just fine for your application. If you go this way, I have a set of these I can sell you. Gav, the MK63 and S12+8 are almost same weight, pistons vary in diams, seal sections and dimensions are different, Seals and pistons do not interchange, been there, they are close, but no cigar!
  3. The "too hard" or "dd class" vehicles, are usually issued with cams logbook category as RC-O Aka, "Rally Car - Other" Your local scrutineer/elegibility officer, and the cams office will know about this category. Category 2A Sports Car, can be an issue of you are using the car on open and closed public roads, whereas RCO logbooked cars can be used on roads, with Transport Dept Temporary Permits ( something to consider !)
  4. C'mon, ,,, he's way to young to even know about that TV show! Welcome to the next 50 or so years of car enjoyment!
  5. "gifts" are not taxed on theay in.
  6. How do we put Richards "interesting" viewpoints, into a new topic?Moreso, what do you call it?
  7. For someone who doesn't do any racing, let alone sprints, at any interstate venues, you try to come aross as very "knowledgeable"Fortunately, quite a few of us see through this charade, and have done so for many years James, inlast fewyears, only races twice a year. John Boston, on the other hand, about every weekend. Butagain, you donthave any knowledge of this, yet you sprout forth, again,,, Compare the owner of that 300ZX's times, that might help you to understand things a lot more. JF's car is a roadregistered built to strict regs standard car, and not a "dedicated race car", but, you do not know any of this. Note further down thetimesheets, my old , also standard, as built to regulations car, was just a few slots behind JF, with a 1.50, also running same brake setup, and breathingthrough a single factory butterfly.
  8. Slicing and porting, and using the EGR channel, to increase plenum volume. For an old racecar, that has to use stock intake,,,,
  9. Yes, fuelinjection, asperUSA spec 280Z. James Flett in his 260 was certainly showing just how a simple well preparedcar, can go!
  10. Richard, Really, your inane love for oddities leaves all others wonderingabout you! The 300 is a very very much modified Sports Sedan, but does not have a logbook for its currentspec, and can only verrun in basic lapdash type events, just like your cars.
  11. Gav, did you notice the quickest S30 on the lapdash was a Group S Prod Sports car! No big bore stroker, no big triple carbs, stock std brakes, full interior, flash paintjob, and well driven! Theres a lot to besaid for keeping them simple!
  12. Drove straight up andon, with a bit of a run up. 5.1 diff seemed to help.
  13. Check your reverse lamp Earths. As well. The passage of years can play havoc with electricals that lie dormant.
  14. 1.76 hey! Not to far from the Datsun Sports Option box first gear ratio of 1.85 Now thats a cracker of a box to go real racing in especially matedto thecorrect diffratio for blinding off the start line acceleration, and also have a gear ratio for every corner, to maximise corner exit speeds. Did I tellyou about my early/mid 1980's days when I ran what was known as "Dial your own" bracket drag racing? Attended Fairbain ACT, Catlereagh NSW, Calder Vic, strips, ran Datos and GM cars Used to playarround with different stall converters, and manualised valve bodies in the GM trans, to good effect. Sounds like you have an expert Auto trans bloke to get you sorted though,,,,,, Ask him about fitting a Lenco, one of those old dinosaurs would suit you perfectly
  15. Mick, dont go there !!! Richard likes to be,,,,, different,,,,, Powerglides only have one ratio, Low Top is direct, and doesn't lock in, but they are very strong.
  16. You now building this for Warwick Dragstrip, 1/8th mile country drags,,,,,,, Those haystalk chewing good ol boys just love those Powerglide boxes!
  17. Except for when you get them Extrude-Honed, opens them up, and polishes them nice and smooth. Theres a place in Vic that does this, mainly to intake manifolds, but they also do old exhausts,
  18. Look up Custom Brakes, theyre in Ellen st Moorooka, Niel Barker, very cluey bloke, with a largerange of all components. Drop your old ones off, he'll replicate, and can do ADR compliant braided with black sheath, for that stealth look! Tell him hello from me, he knows Datsuns!
  19. They are not into the esoteric world of the Z! More the high turnover high demand smaller Datsun market, that has a much wider International following. He gets a lot of NOS, and is certainly making a lot of related contacts.
  20. Plenty of NSW and Qld'ers know this guy and his new shop. He recently picked up a Z31 for parting out They are hosting a Qld "DatNats" day, for all the many people from Qld, that wont he going to Sydney for the Datnats!
  21. Have what youa are after, but postage /freight will be a concern!
  22. M'kay! We'll all keep,,,,, watching!
  23. Ummmm Why dont you just seam weld it,,,, properly, like all other competition cars have done. 10 or so metres of that pallaver, it'll be lucky to come in under2 tonnes! That, and, the flag marshalls meatball flagging you for the trail of snapped off chunks of rhs!
