  1. Maybe this twin idler talk should be relocated so we don't hijack the build thread...
  2. Who fitted the manifold onto the car? It's as rough as guts, I would've thought anyone would know that's a poor way to fit something. I'm sure it they mentioned doing that way to Adam he would've found a way around it or purchase a different manifold that fits properly. Regarding the tensioner, I'll need one of these, how loud are they exactly?
  3. Do you have an aftermarket ECU?
  4. Here's a how to on those rear braces, scroll to the bottom of the page. http://s30zcar.jp/tuning.html
  5. Are the cranks fully counter weighted? May as well get them to do a 90mm crank with corresponding rods to get a 3.4L.
  6. Unfortunately I'm out Nato, too many out goings at the moment
  7. I saw the car all the time in Parkdale, up until I moved very recently. It was on full reg and seemed to be used most days. I actually saw Waz at Zworx in Mordialloc do the bodywork and spray job on it (metallic brown?), that'd be at least 7yrs ago now.
  8. I thought N42 was the preferred block for large over bores?
  9. Yeah mate, it's on one of Dale's Zeds. I got it from Japan, haven't seen one pop up for a while.
  10. 240z front bumper for sale. Been sitting in the shed for a long time and photo's don't do it justice. I added an old pic of it fitted to the car. Can't find the overiders at the moment, so it's the bar and brackets only $180 pick up obviously
  11. Here's a few pics of the pin puller. The inner rod has threaded holes at each end, they go on to the spindle, the outer tube slides over the top and the nut tightens against it.
  12. Thanks for the try Oldmate These are two very different dizzy's, optical vs. hall effect pick ups. No base plate, no module and from what I understand no mechanical advance.
  13. I have a 280zx turbo dizzy for sale. It comes with the special drive shaft. I bought it from a member here a few years ago but have no need for it. I also have an after market trigger wheel ($25usd) for it allowing you to run sequential injection or run coil packs from the dizzy. $175inc post
  14. LOL! I've used that same shipping method many a time. I'll have a look for it and try to put some pics up. It sound similar to the one you used.
  15. I bought a spindle pin puller tool from Hybridz. I broke off one threaded end on the first pin, the puller has two ends and screws onto the threads, I reversed it and used very carefully. Got both pins out using the tool and a 300mm shifter. I may still have it floating around if anyone wants to try it, or get it copied.
  16. I was wondering what Pete had been up to. Whoa, it's gunna be good!
  17. They hang below the cross member though, doesn't that make it deeper. Or does it hang lower due to the thickness of the cast?
  18. I thought a deeper pan would have a deeper pick up. I know my pan had a longer and reinforced pick up.
  19. Do they have a deeper pick up to go with the pan?
  20. I've seen a 'premium' rear kit, for one side only on eBay for about $110. Not certain if it has both bearings as 'C4' type. A lot of places will sell a generic kit that only has one C4 bearing in it. EDIT: here's the link http://m.ebay.com.au/itm/361163236692?_mwBanner=1 Doesn't look like both are the C4 type, I'm sure there's many who have used them without issue.
  21. My car had nothing between it, but it's probably been apart many times
  22. I could be interested in a set of the 240z engine bay chassis rails including the stock length floor rails. I'll have to run it past the treasury department. Is there a rough cost on them?
  23. Yeah they do look small! We'll do some measuring on the valves and go from there. He said it was similar to the SSS heads. Thanks.
  24. Thanks Jas. The previous owner said it had 37cc chambers (we have dished pistons). Inlet ports look to be about 36mm, with plenty of rough bits. It'll only get taken to 6,500rpm max and most of the time it'll live under 5,500rpm. It'll be a daily driven car. I have some spare L28 valves, are they suitable?
