  1. Presumably so that Zeds can have wider mags, triple carries, and other Nissan motorsport parts in certain categories of racing that are current not allowed by CAMS.
  2. So you want something like this, but with triple carbs as well. http://s107.photobucket.com/user/GTCHRIS3/media/GTCHRIS3116/DSC00375_zpsf8aef2a5.jpg.html
  3. Sent Ross a facebook message, lets see if he has time to reply.
  4. This guy says his car has the front struts from it, scroll down to "The Red 240Z": http://www.zcarclubq.org.au/daves-z-stable/ Or you could ask Ross about them. https://www.facebook.com/ross.dunkerton
  5. Last Night I Watched... Birdman, and I want those 2 hours of my life back.
  6. No one watched any movies lately? Last movie I watched was interstellar. Gets all 2001 space odyssey crazy near the end.
  7. A fresh paint job can hide a multitude of sins. Buy the on with the rust you can see, at least you know what you are getting yourself into. Or, unless there is photographic evidence that the rust has been taken care of properly on the one with the nice paint job, expect it to be as rusty as the other one under the paint.
  8. Well, I have these: http://s9.photobucket.com/user/mr_camouflage/library/for%20sale From a 260z but should fit a 240z. Only real difference between 260z and 240z is the centre panel. A couple of snapped bolts need removing. Swap for the hinges?
  9. Staying in Aus?
  10. How many piece G nose is it? Heck, I'd send you the lower valance, and corner panels for the ZG hinges if they are proper ones. Also have an old shogun bike in the shed, but was about to have a go at getting it rideable again.
  11. I'm not. Had a hard time myself selling a straight but rusty 240z myself. Started it at $5000, and had to take $3000. Most people don't want to put the work into it, or don't have fat enough wallets to get the work done. Most people want a Z that just needs a buff and a polish and a tune up, and be drivable, and they want to pay 1990's prices for them. Is there no Z specialist workshop over where you are that might be interested the lot for parts?
  12. I believe its more like Prince had a licence to use certain Mercedes Benz Patents, not whole engine designs. I.e, Prince weren't producing copies MB engines under licence. Nissan later varied the designs of their new L series engines so that no patent licensing from MB was required. Alan explains it better here: http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/19264-valve-cover-differences/page-4
  13. Sell them to someone with a 4 cyl on ebay.
  14. Happened to me once. Made a deal to buy a Z31 two seater (rare to find one in Aus), shook hands, went home, was going to pick it up on the weekend and bring cash. Get a call from the seller, he's been offered $500 more from a guy over east, and if I want it, i'd need to beat the other guys price by another $500. He kept saying I need the money for my family, have to think of them first, should have left a deposit, blah blah blah. Maybe I'm too old school, but you shake hands on a verbal deal it's as good as done. You don't welch out of it because someone offers you a little extra cash. I also knew he got the car from a wrecker cheap, and was telling me lies about getting it from a mate. He was probably bull-shitting the other guy for more money too.
  15. #501 was the first HS30 off the production line in Jan 1971 (according to a Nissan parts manual). It is what we call a series 2. (USA have different numbers for their series classifications, but they are really just splitting hairs) It has quarter panel vents and metal tool bins.
  16. I guess they must have sat around on Hommoku Wharf for quite some time.
  17. Weird, should be a 1970 with that chassis number. Maybe it got delayed somewhere until it got complied.
  18. Didn't think Richard was that young. Pretty sure it's a case of Generation X slackness just like me.
  19. Just saw the jalopnik article comments. You'd think Dale Ishimoto had passed away a second time. They are probably have a good old laugh about it where ever they are. http://jalopnik.com/nissans-father-of-the-z-and-rogue-exec-katayama-yutaka-1687214072
  20. R.I.P Mr K. Thanks for the Z. A car that created history, myths and legends, as evident by the first user comment in this article: http://www.wsj.com/articles/nissans-father-of-the-z-dies-aged-105-1424510374
  21. I must be reading mine wrong. Apparently the DOT (US Department Of Transport) standard didn't exist until 1967, so it stands to reason that there cannot be any DOT marked tyres older than 1967.
  22. 1959 Pirelli from one of the Silvias.
  23. Looks like the same car as this one that someone traded in an R34 GT-R for.
