  1. Think it had a sunroof too. Found an ad with the same number wanting a roof from years ago.
  2. I like it for its wacky, out there, bat mobile, 80's califonian drug induced crazyness. If lamborghini was asked to do an 80's Z, I think it would have looked something like that.
  3. Spotted some parts on gumtree in SA. Doors, bonnet, hatch, fenders etc. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/surrey-downs/auto-body-parts/datsun-z-type-parts/1042766345
  4. I had to google that too. Turns out its the first of the 3 Primadonna Z cars built in the late 70's early 80s by some dude ( in California i think). originally white, then repainted red. Its current where abouts is unknown.
  5. My bad. Just throwing generic terms around to help distinguish them from JDM cars.
  6. 1974 OMS pace car BRE 240Z That would keep the USA contingent happy. Never even heard of the OMS pace car until now, and most likely neither has 99% of anyone with a Z.
  7. Photo of the car from 10 years ago:
  8. Yeah that's what the Works team called them.
  9. I'd include other non USA cars. Adding to your list, something like: 1969 (USDM: early emblems and D hubcaps) 1970 (JDM) Fairlady Z (jdm emblems, fender mirrors, optional mags) 1970 (JDM) Fairlady Z432 R 1971 (JDM) Farilady 240ZG (with G-nose, rear spoiler and wheel flares, fender mirrors) 1971 (USDM) Later emblems and hubcaps 1971 Works 240Z #11 East African Safari Rally winner 1972 (USDM) with dealer options (bumper bar things and side stripes) 1972 Works 240z #5 Monte Carlo Rally (placed 3rd outright) 1972 Fairlady 240Z-G Police car (http://www.nissan-global.com/EN/HERITAGE/fairlady_240z_g.html) 1973 Works 240Z #1 East African Safari Rally winner 1973 Failrady 240ZG race car (http://www.nissan-global.com/EN/HERITAGE/fairlady_240z_059.html) 197? Big Sam (Samuri UK race car) 1974 260Z (thin bumpers) 1974 260Z 2/2 (thin bumpers bumpers) 1974 Scarab (with full body kit) 1974 OMS pace car 1974.5 260Z (5mph bumpers) 1974.5 260Z 2/2 (5mph bumpers) 1975 280Z 1977 280Z Zap (decal kit) 1978 280Z Black Pearl Z BAIT (1970's 240Z modified in the late 70's early 80'z) Devil Z (of Wangan Midnight Manga Fame) S30 Fairlady Z with L31 twin turbo.
  10. Or maybe something like these, unknown on roadwortyness over there though. http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/classic17a02d/11-4016
  11. Good stuff Lachlan. I can see a pattern forming. White 240K, white MX5, white 240Z.
  12. sold
  13. I dont even remember when I started on my 240Z.
  14. Ummm, http://www.9tro.com/features/tuned-cars/datsun-240z-3-5-california-dreamin What I dont like about it: Front looks reminds me of a Daihatsu Copen Rear tail light mod Rear bumper and flares 350z dashboard and emblems Auto Rear view mirrors Aluminium hole plate under the bonnet Electric supercharger
  15. Gav, that's the 48400-E4100 optional wheel. A little info here if you google translate to english. www.goodness.jp/mach-repro.htm Also some info at the bottom of the page here, but I have no idea what it says: http://victory50.com/president/president002.html
  16. The engine was imported by EKW in the 1980s. Alan explained it once here: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/open-240k-discussion/24937-unusual-kenmeri-qld.html#post209755
  17. "432 cubic inches, holy cow!" ( chuckles to ones self ). Click the link if you dont get the joke.
  18. Looks like more of a fix up than a restoration. I'm glad they didn't make it look like a brand new 240Z. This still looks like a car that was put through a grueling rally experience. It still has its patina.
  19. It's a short story from the 1970s, that later became a book in the 80s. It won a couple of sci-fi writers awards back in the day. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ender's_Game
  20. I had a 240Z back in high school. Graduated in 1988, and am currently 42, so it was easy to spot. Spent about 2 or 3 years working on that car, to the detriment of my school work. My Dad was an ex-mechanic so advice was always at hand if I needed it, but I was the type to want to figure it out myself and asking for help was always the last resort. Although my Dad was no coke addict and I didn't end up crashing my car into a hill.
  21. Slight maths error if it is. 18 in 1988, you'd only be 44 today. Maybe its set in 2019?
  22. Old post I know, but are you still looking? I was just starting to clean out the shed and found a pair of upper lenses I had. Did a search to look for prices and found this thread. Drivers side is ok. Passenger side has a chip out of the plastic under the reflector as can be seen in the photos. Interested?
  23. chuck it up on OZDAT.com
  24. P restrictions only applies to engine mods by the looks... (high powered vehicles) http://www.qld.gov.au/transport/licensing/driver-licensing/applying/provisional/restrictions/index.html Noting in the about engeenring mods for extra seats A P plater could not drive a turbo 240Z in QLD because it has: "a turbocharged or supercharged engine that is not diesel powered" and is not a "Suzuki Cappuccino 2D Cabriolet Turbo 3 657–698cc (1992–1997) Daihatsu Copen L880 2D Convertible Turbo 4 659cc (2003 or later) Smart Fortwo Coupe 2D Turbo 3 698cc (2000 or later) Smart Fortwo Cabriolet Turbo 3 2D 698cc (2000 or later) Smart Roadster Turbo 3 2D 698cc (2000 or later) or Toyota Landcruiser." My advice: wait until you have finished high school before getting a project car. I got my first 240Z in year 12 and spent alot of time working on the car instead of studying, and didn't do particularly well because of it. Car turned out awesome though
