MaygZ Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 Roberto, you wont need an engine bay light - this beast is to tough to break! Quote
Roberto Posted April 27, 2012 Author Posted April 27, 2012 The fenders, cowl panel and grille have been assembled and all the wiring completed. I have test fitted the xenon spoiler and it fits really well. I must decide on whether to paint my vented bonnet satin black to match the bumpers, flares and wheels or get a vented carbon fiber one from BenZed. (Painting it blue is out of the question as I am confident it will never match 100%) Also time to start seriously thinking about the exhaust ! Quote
MaygZ Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 Roberto, your car is looking farkin' fantastic!! I love just about everything about it. MaygZ I would love to see both your's and Mick's in the flesh. Never thought I would say it, but now that's two good reasons to go to Adelaide Quote

thriller Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 Looks brilliant man, hope to see it in the flesh some day. Quote
Retro Z Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 Nice work. Love how you blacked out the window trim aswell, looks awesome. As for the bonnet I reckon you should just paint yours satin black, for a car so sleek I reckon carbon would cheapen/look tacky..also because carbon bonnets are lighter you have to modify bonnet hinges or remove the springs altogether. RBZ 260 Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 Awsome work Roberto. Almost done. Also +1 for black bonnet. Quote
Roberto Posted May 7, 2012 Author Posted May 7, 2012 Well, satin black bonnet it will be to finish her off......i think. I started stripping back the vented bonnet i acquired last year. Lots of layers of paint and plenty of bog. The more i looked at this bonnet, the more I realised the front right corner seemed lower than the other side, not by much. You might be able to tell from the last photo. When it was stripped, i got a little bit of a surprise. Next step is to do a test fit to determine whether I will go ahead with this one. Otherwise carbon it might be...... Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted May 7, 2012 Administrators Posted May 7, 2012 Oh dear that's my number 1 fear with second hand panels. The bog monster... might be less effort the acquire another? Quote
Scoota G Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 Ummmm . . . Filler in a 40 Year old 2nd hand hood? Maybe a bit of a given! Quote
chris240 Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 No no no .... You must paint the bonnet blue the same as the rest of the car , dont listen to the others.....I mean it Quote
luvemfast Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 No no no .... You must paint the bonnet blue the same as the rest of the car , dont listen to the others.....I mean it Can always do both. Try carbon, I you don't like it, paint th top Quote
d3c0y Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 minus 1 for carbon. looks tacky. Your mum looks tacky Quote
Roberto Posted May 9, 2012 Author Posted May 9, 2012 Ok, settle down people. I will not paint bonnet blue because i don't really like the blue of my car, so the less blue, the happier I will be. It looks good in photos and under fluoro lights and even on cloudy days, but when the sun hits it early in the day or late in the afternoon, it gets a deep purple tinge to it. I have come to hate that!! So, it will be black or carbon fiber. Plus as I mentioned earlier I am not confident with colour matching. You are right Simon, if i buy a carbon bonnet and I think it looks cheap, i can paint it black or vinyl wrap it satin black. This way it is reversible and no issues with stains and bird poo on the satin finish. Plus i save 15kg and give the front end the slight lift it needs. I did a test fit tonight and although this bonnet fits reasonable well, I think it would be more suited for a race car when 100% finish is not the goal. I will either sell it (cheaply) or just give it away to someone who I like. Quote
Agno Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 I think a satin black bonnet on your car would look ace. Maybe just wrap a fibreglass bonnet instead? Unless you actually want the carbon bonnet in case you ever decide carbon fibre look is for you. Also, looks like you have a killer shed set up there! Quote
luvemfast Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 Thin coat of paint, where you can see the carbon fibre through it. F40 style Quote
zzzzed Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 You could vinyl wrap the current bonnet with fake carbon fibre vinyl... Just kidding. Quote
d3c0y Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 Thin coat of paint, where you can see the carbon fibre through it. F40 style That was going to do that on my car :-\ Quote
