luvemfast Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 That was going to do that on my car :-\ There there Jake. You can still do it Quote
Riceburner Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 I think satin black to match the rest of the car. Carbon can look good but it would look heaps better if the flares and spoiler were carbon to match it. Quote
luvemfast Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 Good point Gareth. Now Roberto needs to buy carbon flares! Quote
saxon Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 I think satin black to match the rest of the car. +1 Quote
Roberto Posted June 15, 2012 Author Posted June 15, 2012 Am still awaiting the new carbon bonnet from Japan via BenZed. This should arrive shortly as will a 2.5 inch exhaust system built by the Peter / Les combo team. Without these I can't take the z for a spin. Having some time spare, I bought the MSA complete rubber kit and have started replacing the door rubbers which were perished. Removal of the sill panels revealed a nasty little surprise though. Fortunately there aren't any holes and i will treat the deep surface rust before replacing with new sill panels. I bought these from a UK ebay store. They are stainless steel and very solid. I don't think they look too bad since they are nice and simple. Quote
Riceburner Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 I have looked at these too mate, seems like a great idea as cleaning and polishing the stock ones is hard work. Should look really nice when you open up the door. What are the details on the exhaust system, mufflers and so on? Quote
Roberto Posted June 16, 2012 Author Posted June 16, 2012 What are the details on the exhaust system, mufflers and so on? Hey Gareth, it will be a straight through system with a resonator mid way and a single straight through muffler at the rear. I don't know the brands of the muffler and resonator, but I trust Peter. He might add more info in this. Quote

SS30RR Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 Is this car going to be at Nationals? If it is it's going to be a gizz fest for me . Quote
Corsa224 Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 Hi Roberto, How do you think those scuff plates would look on a certain 2+2 Quote
Roberto Posted July 9, 2012 Author Posted July 9, 2012 HI roberto will have your exhaust to you this week Yippee.....Awesome work Peter. Looking forward to having some Z work to do. How do you think those scuff plates would look on a certain 2+2 They will look great, I am sure of it. You are welcome to have a closer look at them or borrow them. They are a tad smaller than the original scuff plates and adhere with double sided tape, not screws. Quote
Corsa224 Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 Thanks that would be great, I was concerned about the length mine are about 800mm long. What do you do with the rubber seal that the original plate covers. Any chance I can pop over during the week and see the zed, I have a week off.. Quote
Roberto Posted July 10, 2012 Author Posted July 10, 2012 Thanks that would be great, I was concerned about the length mine are about 800mm long. What do you do with the rubber seal that the original plate covers. Any chance I can pop over during the week and see the zed, I have a week off.. These are 710mm long. My original ones are 745mm long. As far as the rubber seal goes, these scuff plates should not cover it. If you are referring to the door seals then they are next to the scuff plates. Yeah, if you want to pop around, PM me. Cheers Quote

Roberto Posted July 18, 2012 Author Posted July 18, 2012 Will try to mount these pipes on the weekend and take a video. I also replaced the door seals and scuff plates after treating the rust beneath with POR-15. As I mentioned, these new plates are a bit shorter but I am happy with the look. Up to 24hrs ago I didn't realize that the door seals do not require adhesive to fit them. Was a real cinch. Quote
Roberto Posted August 6, 2012 Author Posted August 6, 2012 The new 2.5 inch exhaust system has been fitted ( ) and I have taken some video of engine running...... http://youtu.be/Pj4eWW4j3DY Quote
