Moderators Zedman240® Posted February 3, 2013 Moderators Posted February 3, 2013 Probably been compacted after it was laid. Zed is looking good Gareth; can't wait to see it in person as pics never do it justice.. Quote
Riceburner Posted February 3, 2013 Author Posted February 3, 2013 Thanks Gents Love the look G Man... not sold on the rear spoiler, but maybe I just need to see it in person!! Yeah It's a little different, was too big before. I tried to copy the 911 ductail a little and just have it go to the edge of the hatch. I've never had trouble with rear grip so hopefully shouldn't upset the balance. Looking the goods. You'll definately notice the aero difference at PI. There's the tybe B front spoiler that I'll run for track days, but it's too low for the road. Love the muffler 432r style. Where did u find it?been looking for one. Colour code the rear bar to match the front lower section. Also mirrors in matt black. Are they watanabe wheels? Looks great love to see it in person. Will try the color match on a spare bumper and see. The wheels a just Konig Rewinds painted in satin black. Car looks great. On an unrelated subject: How do you keep you driveway looking so neat? Is it very new? Mine is from the same material and looks like crap after only 12 months :'( The drive was just done again in october of last year. Lasted about 4-5 years and yep Dimitri is spot on, Had it rolled with a heavy compactor. Same way they do bitumen. Quote
Scoota G Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 Love the look G Man... not sold on the rear spoiler, but maybe I just need to see it in person!! I must be one of the rare ones who have seen this in person. It's got eye candy all over! Quote
d3c0y Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 The rear spoiler looks like the middle part of the type B kit rear wing. Just go the full type B kit! Quote
Riceburner Posted February 3, 2013 Author Posted February 3, 2013 I must be one of the rare ones who have seen this in person. It's got eye candy all over! You guys are the only ones who have seen it so far Mark. The rear spoiler looks like the middle part of the type B kit rear wing. Just go the full type B kit! It's the MSA Victory spoiler, just shortened the ends and re-shaped to suit. I like the wild type a/b kits but would have to butcher the guards to get a decent ride height. Seems like everyone is going flares ATM so it'll stay this way for a while. Quote
d3c0y Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 Yeah but everyone is a bunch of pussies (as you say ) and wont cut their guards. I'm going the chop! Quote
acf321 Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 Go G! Love the work, and +1 on the factory guards .... DON'T CUT THEM! Quote
Fairlady Z Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 Yeah but everyone is a bunch of pussies (as you say ) and wont cut their guards. I'm going the chop! Hahahahahhhahah snip snip heaps of stockers around for people to see and walk past. We need some wild ones that peole stop and say WTF that is soo nice. But saying that i didnt think Zg front will look ok without flares. Must admit Gareths is an exception. Im guessing the fender mirrors zg lenses and two tone nose and nice wheels look so good that you dont notice the flares missing. Only comment is to paint the rear bar to mach the front and its perfect. Quote
Riceburner Posted February 8, 2013 Author Posted February 8, 2013 The Riceburner is alive and kicking, test drive complete! Whoa, I've gotten soft in the 2yrs it's been off the road. Felt like the car had no suspension and the Nissan short steering arms require muchos grunt. I'm on popeye's diet until nationals to make sure I actually get around a corner Yaaaarrrrrrrrrr! Here's a vid Quote
Riceburner Posted February 8, 2013 Author Posted February 8, 2013 More exhaust. Full 3" madrels all the way, 14" long 5"dia 3" centre/centre high flow muffler under prop shaft, rear stainless can by Reinhard japan. It's a lot deeper sounding but same overall DB as old system. It would never start first go with the old system, usually 3-4th time it would fire. First try evrytime it fires instantly, as good as any modern car! Too much back pressure previously? I kept the rear bar chrome, at this stage less work = good work. Oh, and love the way the handles look! Quote
Fairlady Z Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 That sounds sweet Gareth. As usual japanese make the best mufflers full stop. Quote
Riceburner Posted February 8, 2013 Author Posted February 8, 2013 That sounds sweet Gareth. As usual japanese make the best mufflers full stop. yeah, meaty but still not too loud. Quote
KatoKid Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Great stuff Gareth. Im assumimg still too loud to pass for rego? Quote
Riceburner Posted February 8, 2013 Author Posted February 8, 2013 No it's ok Dave. You can get the same size mufflers but in longer style for extra noise dampening as your BMW 3L might be louder. Longest is about 24" but it'll come down to what you can fit in there. Quote
Riceburner Posted March 10, 2013 Author Posted March 10, 2013 Few more finishing touches before nats. I've boxed out the lower section of the gnose with aluminium plate. I also cut off the license plate backets on the bumper, the plate is now fitted to the lower section for max airflow. Tried to make a front tow hook from the old ZCCJDM one I had, no dice. The gnose has the park/turn signals sitting approx 50mm further in than the stock front, so the hook requires a much bigger offset. Also removed the rear offset inner control arm bushes, these were aluminium. After driving the car it was twitchy, further inspection, I found a heap of play between the bushes and the body. Refitted the new rubber oem bushes and no problems. Hoping to get some time to cut and polish the new paint before nats! Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted March 10, 2013 Moderators Posted March 10, 2013 I just went through that number plate delimma now.. Mounted mine half way up the bumper but it looks like crap. I thought of the same place you mounted but I'm a bit hesitatnt drilling more holes but looks like I will have to. Next idea that costs around $70 is to get a reflective sticker made. Seen others made and they don't look too bad. Quote
adam Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 I just went through your thread and wow.. A white G nosed 240z that gets raced (or at least used to ), it's what I wanted to do to mine! Great stuff, I'll definitely keep an eye on this thread now I look forward to seeing your car out on a track in the near future. Quote

Seen others made and they don't look too bad. I did think of the sticker plate too, but I thought they had been made illegal or banned. In saying that I have seen an E type jag with one in the city. What about riveting it to the bonnet, factory rally car style! LOL. I just went through your thread and wow.. Fairlady Z Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 Gareth the car is looking should i say " fully schick bro" Cant wait to see it at nationals. Yeah label plate be nice. Have you guys got different sized plates? We got few sizes here. Like slim front normal or sqauare rear (to fit jdm cars) Im planing getting slim fronts for mine and std rear or possibly square for jdm look. Quote
Riceburner Posted March 24, 2013 Author Posted March 24, 2013 Today the new paint job was hit with some cutters then machine buffed for the first time and then hand buffed. Has come up a treat with great shine. I also wanted to break up the black on black of the rims and tyres. So I found some rim tape at a local motorcycle shop, Fluro white, I really like the look but after three botched attempts I only had enough to do one wheel The rest will get done during the week. Gotta do a little more tuning before the nats, needles need to go down a clip or two. The Innovate LM2 has been great for tuning. Quote
thriller Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Love the drilled handles + exhaust. Also spotted the Z432 tacho.... drool Quote
luvemfast Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 That tape weighs! Just might slow you down enough for me to pass. Lol Looking good mate Quote
CroS13 Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 awesome looking car mate, i noticed a few pages back, but didn't spot if someone asked, where did you get your over/under duel muffler from? If i recall didn't Monza produce them back in the day? but weren't they black/yellow? Rudolf. Quote
Riceburner Posted March 25, 2013 Author Posted March 25, 2013 awesome looking car mate, i noticed a few pages back, but didn't spot if someone asked, where did you get your over/under duel muffler from? If i recall didn't Monza produce them back in the day? but weren't they black/yellow? Rudolf. There a quite a few companies that make them. Fujitsubo do a twin system called the 'lagalis' you can find them on the RHDJapan website. I got mine from Reinhard Japan, they do an all stainless twin 60mm system but it's pricey. I just asked for the rear 'can' only, apparently muffler translates to the whole exhaust system so they didn't know what I was asking for Cheers, guys. Quote
Scoota G Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Top class work there Gareth, can't wait to see it on the island. Quote
