KatoKid Posted December 2, 2012 Posted December 2, 2012 Is this the one G man? http://www.rhdjapan.com/fujitsubo-legalis-r-exhaust-muffler-s30-hs30-63314 Quote
Riceburner Posted December 2, 2012 Author Posted December 2, 2012 Yeah that's it David. There's a couple of vids on you tube with exhaust note too Quote
Gordo Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 Hi Gareth. After 24 pages, nearly 30000 hits and two and a half years is the riceburner going to hit the track next year? Quote
acf321 Posted December 10, 2012 Posted December 10, 2012 yeah Gareth... Or after 3.5 years and 40,000 hits, i'll beat you to it! Quote
Riceburner Posted December 17, 2012 Author Posted December 17, 2012 Sorry guys didn't see your posts. Yeah hopefully be up and running early in the year. Got almost all the painting done, removed all windows and seals. No rust to be found. Got the new window seals for front/rear glass but having trouble finding 1/4 windows seals locally. Few pics of progress Quote
Riceburner Posted December 17, 2012 Author Posted December 17, 2012 Basecoat and clear done, still have metallic parts to do. Keen eyes will notice the shorter rear spoiler, I got sick of it rubbing on the rear quarter panels so chopped it to finish flush with edge of the hatch. Iphone pics don't do it justice, this has blinding shine Stoked with how it came out! Quote
Riceburner Posted December 17, 2012 Author Posted December 17, 2012 Thanks gents It's assembly time! Quote
tbscobraZ Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 Stunning, it'll look great once all together! Quote
acf321 Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 Love white Zeds, and still reckon yours is the best zed on this whole forum! Quote
dalee Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 looking good Gareth. ready for the Nats! Quote
Riceburner Posted December 19, 2012 Author Posted December 19, 2012 Thanks guys. It's my first time doing body work, there's a few dings I missed and some bugs from the garage! Lol. Zac did a great job with paint Won't be anywhere near some builds on here but I should have the best of both worlds, show and go. Bring on the Nats. Quote
Riceburner Posted December 28, 2012 Author Posted December 28, 2012 I decided to change the wheel color as the clear on the polished lip was lifting in several spots. I sandblasted rims first and then painted with VHT caliper paint in satin black. Tyres are filthy, would look a lot better with some nice tyre black but still came up very well Quote
Riceburner Posted December 28, 2012 Author Posted December 28, 2012 Got some more reassembly done, It's sitting a bit high but has been on stands and has no fuel. Not far off now, hopefully paint remaining bits on sunday. Going to go with satin black on everything else. Quote
luvemfast Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 Looking the goods G Looks like my MSCA winning streak's coming to an end...... Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted December 28, 2012 Administrators Posted December 28, 2012 Great to see a Gnose Zed that looks like a proper Gnose. I think some people don't like the Gnose because it really is something that has to be done correctly. I've seen some shocking fibreglass jobs over the years and you really do need the covers with chrome trim. For me a Gnose Z looks as good as any 60s Ferrari and I'll bet Joe Average on the street wouldn't bat an eye lid if you told him it was 1 too. Really does look much better in person as photos just don't capture the design right. Looking forward to the pics to follow. Quote
Sirpent Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 Hey Gareth Have to agree with Gavin, thats a really well exicuted front and overall the package looks great Buddy Would you consider parting with the covers in exchange for my first born ? Cheers John Quote
Riceburner Posted December 28, 2012 Author Posted December 28, 2012 Thanks guys. It really suits the lines of the car, I wish it was the standard nose fitted to all the zeds. ATM it's a whole lot of white but the stainless/chrome trim should break that up a bit. John, I am thinking of using one way screws on the covers. Would hate to loose one! Simon, I'm going to try weight saving door handles I did see a drilled style that Magnus Walker uses on his Porsches. I've already done a mock up and it looks nice and quite different from the regular plain handles. Here's some old handles I did a rough trial job on. Quote
luvemfast Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 Ba h ha ha That's taking the wright saving to a new level. Not that you need to worry against me! But it does give the racer look. Quote
acf321 Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 Now you're talking G, Now those handles could use a few more holes to be truly 'light', and while you're at it, have a go at the front and rear hood hinges (yes porsche also drilled these extensively in their race cars) and if you're looking to really lose extra flab, google what they did to LeMans winning 917's ignition keys in the day too... Holy indeed! As usual, the car looks unbelievably good, well done fella. Adam Quote
Riceburner Posted January 14, 2013 Author Posted January 14, 2013 Cheers Adam, thats the only light weight mod I have haha. Some of you have probably already seen the trouble I had with the rare spares rear hatch window seal, so it's still not fitted. Some more progress all panels are now on One problem.... I did a shivere bodywork job on the doors, put a small amount of filler in to try and get the doors flat. They are ok in some light and then look like dog sh$t in other light. These will need to be re-done at some stage :'( Progress, I chopped the rear spoiler down so it doesn't over hang the hatch, painted the tail light panel satin black to give a better contrast than the original grey. I also stripped the tail lights, put foil tape in the back to help the little factory reflector plates, polished them inside and out with series 500 soft polish. The result is really good and the foil tape has made them a lot brighter. I did the same job on the front park/turn signals. Hopefully I'll get the drilled handles and 1/4 window frames back this week ready to instal. Fingers crossed the replacement hatch seal too. I've also got all new genuine nissan badges to go on. Riceburner Posted January 14, 2013 Author Posted January 14, 2013 Cheers Pete. I almost forgot, had to drive it out of the garage for the first time since fitting the Nismo short steering arms. It's now 1&1/4 turns to lock I may have to start parking like Ace Ventura Pet Detective. Quote
