Riceburner Posted May 10, 2012 Author Posted May 10, 2012 Also got some bling for the PMC head maybe a little more skyline than Z but i think they're cool Quote

Riceburner Posted June 12, 2012 Author Posted June 12, 2012 More sump pics, loving the gold anodized look... who cares if it works or not Quote
Riceburner Posted June 12, 2012 Author Posted June 12, 2012 On a serious note, there are two issues I am unsure of. 1.The pickup head looks tiny(size of matchbox) is this normal? 2.The coating on the inside isn't as good so there's surface rust on the bottom of sump(see pic attached) what should I do to fix it, or should I just leave it? luvemfast Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 Awesome looking sump mate. Maybe just rub the rust, with sandpaper and scotchbrite. Re pickup. Neil Cartledge had small ones like that on his race motors. So I would give it the all clear. Maybe Peter can chime in? Quote

It's just a light amount of rust so should come off with little effort. Re pickup, good enough for Neil is good enough for me. Quote
Riceburner Posted June 29, 2012 Author Posted June 29, 2012 Got the new sump fitted, now extractors won't fit. Number five hits the wing of the sump, I'll get that runner modified to give the 15-20mm required I left the old crank scraper on cause I didn't want to undo all the main caps to remove it. Got the diff cover stripped, painted and fitted, holds an extra 340ml. It won't clear the rear cross brace, so I'll have to get a custom one made. Good news is with the cover off I had a chance to inspect the diff, torsen centre and lock wire. It all looked brand new! The list continues to grow, Lookout Nissan/Datsun Nationals........ 2021 Quote
acf321 Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 Hey Gareth Always a fascinating read your thread. Love the way you get all these little quirky quick bits and put them together to make what I still regard as just about the best zed on these forums. I've not been to seen the 'hornet' since before Santy came last year, but I do feel a visit is in order. Have not really seen the forum since about then too, so its great to see what you've been up to. Keep up the good work Fella, its excellent. Adam. Quote
Riceburner Posted July 23, 2012 Author Posted July 23, 2012 Thanks Adam Got the FCR manifold finished, it's come up very nice with the runners much straighter than I thought and 48mm inlet runners was as big as I could go. Just a bit of porting to match it to PMC's head Bring on the tuning! I broke one of the ram tubes, but I have two spares so it's no biggie. Also have a silicone rad hose kit that'll go on too. Quote
KatoKid Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 Very nice Gareth.....you know Im a sucker for 6 x anything! Quote
Riceburner Posted August 1, 2012 Author Posted August 1, 2012 Woot, Nissan motorsport shortened steering arms! Will I need to adjust the tie rods out to get these to fit, or is it a straight changeover? Quote
Riceburner Posted August 1, 2012 Author Posted August 1, 2012 yep or it will be towing out to blazes Ok, thanks for the info Linton. I'll add a wheel alignment to the list Quote
Riceburner Posted August 18, 2012 Author Posted August 18, 2012 It's alive shivere Iphone video's uploaded. The rattle from the carbs is actually quite loud, but when they open up it goes away and is replaced with a whistle almost sounds like a super charger! Quote
Riceburner Posted August 18, 2012 Author Posted August 18, 2012 Yeah, was mainly between 2000-3000rpm then it went away. Might try some different stacks and see if I can get rid of it. Quote
Riceburner Posted August 19, 2012 Author Posted August 19, 2012 Haven't found out yet, it's got no doors or any front end panels and I'll need to tie up the wiring loom. I'll take it for a gentle spin up and down the driveway(about 400 metres long) to see how it goes next weekend providing I get the rear cross brace modified and fitted in time. Be prepared for a more dodgey iPhone video Progress is slow as I have the car stored two hours away and only get one day to work on it a week if I'm lucky & the four hours of travel makes it a long day. Starting to see a tiny light at the end of the tunnel though. Quote
KatoKid Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Looks grouse G man. Unique sound, looking forward to hearing it at WOT on load. Quote

luvemfast Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 The rattle is best described as "Chatter" So I vote you change the name from "Ricey" to "Chatterbox" Looking forwards to seeing more G-man Quote
Agno Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 I cannot wait to see this car in the flesh. Easily one of my fav cars on here. Do you think it would be ready for the BBQ this year? Quote
Riceburner Posted August 22, 2012 Author Posted August 22, 2012 Bit of stand-off there mate... I never got round to dialing in the cam as I haven't done it before. Could help with the stand off and maybe power too! Quote
