luvemfast Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Sorry if it's a repost. But had to share. A video on the history of Datsun in the USA. Humble beginnings in the 60's, through to defining the Japanese sports car. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qeo18r6O2s0&feature=youtube_gdata_player Quote
Riceburner Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Cross flow L series From what I can see they use RB20E heads Here's a blog for the car in the second video, some crazy goodness! I just used google translate to get a tiny bit of info in english. http://sato1511.blog40.fc2.com/category47-2.html Quote
Agno Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 If they have managed to get a single cam rb20 head onto the l series block why wouldn't they try to adapt a twin cam head? Quote

Roberto Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 A Japanese movie called Wagnan Midnight. This is a link to the trailer. I will be watching the whole movie very soon. Quote
Roberto Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 This is a link to the whole movie "Wangan Midnight" with English subtitles. Every zed owner has to watch this. It is hilarious. It's about a 240Z that is haunted and keeps killing it's owners in car smashes and getting restored again. It's a 2+2 when a wreck at the start of the movie and then a 2 seater when restored..... They pop the bonnet and there is an L series with triple carbs and the guys says, oh it's twin turbo Anyone seen it yet? Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted October 2, 2012 Moderators Posted October 2, 2012 The 260Z that ran at Bathurst at 1:37 - 1:38 on... Pitty its only a rear shot. Spoke to a guy that came into my workplace yesterday that had something to do with it..asked him for some pics / info but no luck Quote

NZeder Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 Some videos of my mate Ricky's 240z at Hampton Down a few weekends ago. First handicap race he started in 24th in a grid of 27 got to 8th in the 8 laps. Changes made for this outing new 4.375 R200 I sourced and one of my LSD centres this was changed to make up for the change of RIM size from the group buy of 15x8 +10 Rota RK-R I arranged here in NZ, down from 16 due to class rules plus up in total size from 225/45/16 to 235/50/15. 2nd handicap race SC in the middle of the race....watch how close things get around lap 3. Same race but from the MG V8 Ricky just pasted. Quote
Scando Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 Looks like a pretty handy steerer........Is his last name Bobby? I really like the track, looks like heaps of fun. Quote
KatoKid Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 Mike, is that the track south of Auckland as you head for Hamilton? Last turn - start finish - first turn has a bit of Brands Hatch about it. Nice. Quote
zedls1 Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 That's the one, drove past it when i did a work trip a few months back, flew into Auckland and drove to Hamilton, looks likes a fun track. John Quote
NZeder Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 Yep that's the one Hampton Downs in the Waikato, just south of Auckland. Quote
zedls1 Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 Hi NZeder, What are some of the times around the track, good, fast? John Quote
NZeder Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 His last name is Cooper, times.... around the 1:15's for the fastest 240z with road/dot tyres ie Ricky there are a few others just a bit faster but have flared body work for more rubber/grib. Other times to give you an idea The current record is 59.840 held by Michael Lyons (UK). He was driving a Lola T400 HU7 Formula 5000 during the NZ Festival of Motor Racing celebrating BMW Motorsport on 29th January 2012. The lap record was broken in race 101. A Ford Mustang 429 holds the central muscle car record at 1:09:85 Also see http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hampton_Downs_Motorsport_Park Note the club circuit has not been constructed yet. Quote
zedls1 Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 Thanks for the times, are those times on the International circuit or full circuit? John Quote
NZeder Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 Thanks for the times, are those times on the International circuit or full circuit? John international as the full circuit has not been complete yet, the full is international + club but the club construction is some way off it is owned by a few private investors aka fellow racers so the need to get revenue to keep the bank happy before more $$ invested in more track....sad but given the current global financial markets today it is was it is. Quote
handsandwhich Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 Bloody hell! How about coming around that blind right hander at 100 kays + to see that car sideways across the track. Change your jocks after that. Quote
