Got a quick one up on my Facebook page, hit me up Working on video editing at the moment. Nothing spectacular, mostly in the garage. Peter has expected power around 160kW's at the wheels. How much more power do you think you will gain with a dyno tune? Will wait on that one. Most of the fun for me is playing with the carbs and the results I've managed to improve are exponential. I guess now its just a matter of dialing things in gradually with small adjustments and things will continue to improve. Asking me if the car was running ok, as he'd just watched the video. All concerned. I re assured him, that I was babying it. Keeping it under 5,000rpm, until I'm comfortable with it and have gotten rid of the old fuel. Thanks for the concern mate But it does pull hard, I'm just developing some mechanical empathy. Quote

I myself hated the thought of pulling the motor again for the 4th or 5th time and supported the motor from the struts and dropped the cross member to get the pan off last time. So to ask a silly question.... I am sure I have seen paint inside motors that Pete has built, is there a purpose and is it something special (2 pak epoxy or something) yet he pulled back on the pan paint. I had my headers HPC coated and although expensive, does reduce temperature of the pipe if your worried. Go the orphan (280zx) lover. Quote
peter mc Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 yer i like to paint the inside of the engines , but Simon painted the inside of the sump with a engine enamel and that's a big no no as it come of and it will wreck the engine , i paint the block with a glyptol electric winding paint as it wont come off Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted December 13, 2011 Moderators Posted December 13, 2011 I remember reading about painting the inside of the engine blocks as it helps also seal in any loose sand from the casting process and makes the surface a little more "slick" so any oil goes back to the pan quickly.. Hope my memory isn't failing.. Quote
luvemfast Posted December 13, 2011 Author Posted December 13, 2011 In regards to the painting of inside the block, as Dimitri and Peter stated. It creates a smoother surface that is sealed, when the right product is used. I listened to the advice given by the Bozo's at the auto parts store. Luckily Peter got me to take it off. Even during the cleaning process afterwards, I put some petrol inside the sump and it melted the crappy engine enamel and turned it into a gooey sludge. You wouldn't want that going through the engine Quote
