luvemfast Posted August 31, 2011 Author Posted August 31, 2011 While Peter is doing his magic, I've been doing a couple of small jobs for the new build. After the oil failure of Frankenstein, I'm not taking chances to damage the race engine. This was the main reason for putting the Arizona Z Car baffled sump on. To fit the oil temp sensor like factory, so it can be removed while there is oil in the sump. It was necessary to make up a bung. It was pretty simple. Turn some brass with an M20 x 2.5mm thread on the outside and internal M16 x 1.5mm, then mill a 28mm hex on the head. Drill, tap and spotface the sump. There are a couple of bosses cast into the sump for adding such things, it really is a nice bit of gear. Get one while the $ is high. Fit the teflon washer and screw in I've oreded a new sensor from MAS and he has sent it in the mail. Thanks Ash I've got a few other things that I need to do, but have had a frantic weekend (10 month old daughter in hospital). I'll try and get the stuff sorted. What else do I need Peter? Does anyone have a good spare oil pump/ dizzy drive gear from the front of the crank? Quote
KatoKid Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 Very nice Simon. Hope your daughter is OK? Quote
Riceburner Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 Looking good Simon, are you going to run an oil cooler? How do you find sump to steering rack clearance, I no mine was fairly tight even with new mounts and with the girdle it wouldve been very tight? Also what was the cost on the AZC sump Inc post? Best wishes to your family for a speedy recovery. Quote
Sirpent Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 The lengths we go to for perfection......... Well done Simon, hope your little one is improving. Cheers John Quote
luvemfast Posted August 31, 2011 Author Posted August 31, 2011 Thanks Dave and John. Looking good Simon, are you going to run an oil cooler? How do you find sump to steering rack clearance, I no mine was fairly tight even with new mounts and with the girdle it wouldve been very tight? Also what was the cost on the AZC sump Inc post? No cooler initially, will see how the cooling fins in the sump go first up. My car has the rack in front of the cross member. Cost changes due to market rates, but around AUD$540 delivered. (which is a lot less than a blown motor) Quote
PZG302 Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 Does anyone have a good spare oil pump/ dizzy drive gear from the front of the crank? I do!!!!! The only problem for you Simon is that it comes complete with an L29, so maybe a little more than what you are looking to pay. Quote
luvemfast Posted September 7, 2011 Author Posted September 7, 2011 After much too and fro with Max Speeding Rods. We have come up with an arrangement that we are both happy with. So at the end of the day, they will stand by their product. Quote
