Dry country car

Purchased by my good friend who has since bought himself a later sports car

Upgraded to a L26 engine which was reco'd a few years back

Low km's

5 Speed manual

Lots $$ Spent through the years

Currently unregistered but should be a breeze to get rego

Also Comes with original matching number engine

Straight body with a Few old man dings and scratches and  minor touch up

As far as rust goes this car has got to be one of the cleanest unrestored originals I have seen

lower Drivers door has the only real hints of rust  but that's about all

The common places are dry as a bone and free from any sign of rust

Paint is fair with a few blemishes here and there but overall presents nice

Save the questions and come check this classic out for yourself

First to see will buy

Classic 240z ... getting harder and harder to find

This is as good as they get ... being unrestored and an absolute pleasure to drive

I'm pretty sure this is being sold by the same person that sold the green auto 240Z that was bought by andyk_79 from ebay. Seems like they sell quite a lot of cars on ebay under a couple of different user names. I wish I had the same access to the inside word to enable me to pick up "collectible" cars like this seller seems to be able to! I'm not suggesting that there is necessarily anything untoward with the car. Hell, if I was in Sydney I'd be going for a drive to have a look at it.

If you were interested in the car and perhaps you could PM andyk_79 to get his opinion on how accurately the seller describes the vehicles that they sell on ebay based on his past experience.

Interesting..........not sure who this mob is but they are selling cars under a few different ebay user names. A few weeks back I was looking at a brown 260c coupe on ebay and they take pics at the same beach car park at Sans Souci Sydney.

I just searched on ebay for 260C and bingo, here's a silver 4 door for sale. "Different" ebay seller to the brown 240z but you can see the same 240z and the brown 260c coupe in the background in some of the undercover car park pics. Looks to be Kennards Miranda.

Spot on Mike. The cars in the background in the undercover car park pics is how I picked up I on it back when they were selling the green 240Z.

I wonder if they are actually a licensed dealer given the number of cars they seem to sell...... ???

Ok fellas, devils advocate here. But so what if they have multiple eBay accounts? So what if they're not a car dealer? It doesn't mean anything bad about the car. So of course go see it yourself if you're interested.

Now to flip it around here is what concerns me.

1. States lack of rust, yet doesn't provide detailed photos of said areas of lack of rust like sills, lower fenders, doors (in and out), battery removed etc.. rear hatch slam panel. List goes on....

2. Says should be an easy road worthy, define easy I say! It looks to have been sitting a while and likely will need new bushings, some rust repair (I'd be surprised if it's as clean as advertised), brakes will likely need work, along with suspension. And just try finding a replacement 240z mirror these days!

3. In my opinion it's had at least 1 respray, that fluted bonnet is the original bonnet that's been modified to fit a later flute (Note position and only 1 side), it does look relatively original and unmolested though, original wheel, gear knob etc.. But the seats were trimmed poorly and it's obviously on 260z wheels with a front spoiler etc..

I do think it is good buying provided it's as rust free as claimed, but I do think it will need some work. Shame about brown. But buy based on condition not colour.

Says best offer accepted. Seems 240z's are getting picked up very quickly these days and at decent prices. Very interesting times ahead.

I thought they were reasonably accurate - I got a straight body Z that needed mechanical work which is pretty much what I thought I would get.  They probably could have given a little more detail on what was wrong with the car but I suspect they hadn't had it long enough to know.  Engine and gearbox seem in good condition - take a look at my build thread for what I've ended up needing to do to pass roadworthy (still a work in progress).

I get the impression they pick up collectible cars and then try and turn around a quick profit on them on ebay - my car had been sold on ebay only a couple of months earlier and I believe they may have been the purchaser.  I'd say they might have multiple user IDs as they are effectively running this as an unregistered business and are trying to avoid tax on profits etc.  I will admit I was initially a bit sus on their way of operating, but all numbers matched (including those stamped into firewall etc), PPSR was clear and the mechanical is what you'd expect from a 40 year old car.  They're also quite good in terms of communication, offering inspections before bidding etc.

Just looked at the ad - the user ID is the one I purchased through anyway

What are those seats out of.

I can tell you they're not..

FC RX-7

300zx (Z31 or Z32)

Mitsubishi Starion

Seats... which were my guesses... but wrong.

They do look close to Z32 seats.

They look like 80's or 90's wherever they're from.  Out of a family car with the elastic pocket on the back ?

Hopefully that's where they would have stayed :P.

Even if the seats fit you must acquit*

* Your S30z of being tarted up with 80s seats :P
