Administrators gav240z Posted August 7, 2015 Author Administrators Posted August 7, 2015 Pretty sure this Gumtree ad is. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/wetherill-park/cars-vans-utes/1974-datsun-260z-coupe/1086054983 For this car... http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,15793.0.html Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted August 7, 2015 Author Administrators Posted August 7, 2015 More details and videos of said car here. http://www.chrispilling.tk/ Looks like it was originally a 920 Gold car. I think you could reverse most of the 'modern' stuff and have quite a nice car and it's numbers matching motor apparently? Quote

Administrators gav240z Posted August 17, 2015 Author Administrators Posted August 17, 2015 #339 on Carsales.com.au http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Datsun-240Z-1971/SSE-AD-3550803/?Cr=1 This 240Z is one of the rare and desirable first 500 produced, chassis no. 339, built in 1970 and with an Australian compliance plate dated 1/71. It had a bare metal respray 9 years ago and has had little use since. The original engine, number L24021431, is still fitted and consequently all numbers match to the ID plate. The vehicle is completely standard mechanically and bodily apart from having period "Hotwire" mags fitted, a discreet front air dam, smaller steering wheel ( the original comes with the car ) and front mudguards which include side blinker lights. The interior is largely original and consequently some 45 years old so while it is comfortable it is not in "concourse" condition. The dashtop however is in good condition and not cracked or sun damaged. As the vendor was a Datsun agent from the period when these cars were sold new the car comes with a massive dealer's spare parts book, workshop manual, new car brochure, toolkit and many photos taken during its restoration. Many new parts were fitted at this time and invoices are included. Spares include a complete diff assembly. Speedo reading is currently 9,267 which is obviously at least 109,267 miles and it has only covered about 6000 miles in this ownership. The car is currently on NSW club registration which is not transferable This Datsun early 240Z won't last long at this price of $32,500. Quote
74zzz Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 urgh i curse the late 90s /early 2000s for Holden tiger mica........so many cars repainted this colour Quote
KatoKid Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Maybe I'm being picky.....but who does a "bare metal respray" and paints the nuts a washers on the front strut tops? Quote
dat240z Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Yeah I noticed that one too, shortcut or odd styling . It's amazing how popular that colour was in its heyday, and how quickly it faded into nastiness. Quote
GongZ Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Here is a rather strange ad I found that was posted today on Gumtree. The title of the ad is 'Datsun 240Z / Fairlady Z 1/10th scale RC car body shell', but the last line in the ad says - 'The 260 in the background is also for sale - $27,500.' As you can see in the attached photo - it looks like a very nice silver 2-seater 260Z. The car is located in East Brisbane. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/east-brisbane/miscellaneous-goods/datsun-240z-fairlady-z-1-10th-scale-rc-car-body-shell/1086974965 Quote

oldmates260z Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 (edited) Too far gone.....260Z 2 seater...Starting bid AU $500.00 http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/262016641282 1978 Datsun 260z 2 seater. as you can see its very very rusty but it has non rusty rails and the battery tray is also good. it doesn't come with engine, gearbox, rh door, tail lights or surrounds, sugar scoops. the dash is uncracked and very good. comes rolling with complete rear end, factory wheels and front end. also has 2 saas interceptor seats but drivers side requires some re-trimming, also comes with a good extra roof turret. car would suit someone who needs parts or someone who is super keen to restore but I think its too far gone to bring back to life. PICKUP ONLY from Mirboo nth, Gippsland vic, HAPPY BIDDING. Edited August 23, 2015 by gav240z Quote

Administrators gav240z Posted August 23, 2015 Author Administrators Posted August 23, 2015 I wouldn't say too far gone, maybe not economically viable if you're looking to get back what you put into it, but certainly at $500 starting bid who knows? Could be not a bad deal for someone willing to spend a bit on it and get it done right. Non original motor, so would be good to restore as a competition car. I'm surprised it was on the road until 2008 though.. oldmates260z 1 Quote

Administrators gav240z Posted August 23, 2015 Author Administrators Posted August 23, 2015 I have a feeling someone will have the foresight to save it. I've seen worse sell for quite a bit more than that. This was a 77 model Ash at Moorabbin Auto Spares sold recently as a bare shell. It had the weirdest rust places, most likely a salt air survivor, because the floors were mint (still had the factory sticker on them), but the rear hatch was shot, battery tray, radiator support, windscreen cowl area etc.. It was straight though. The eBay car is complete... Quote
