GongZ Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Isn't that the same car as the post in #3295? Nice dash.. Doh! It sure is. My excuse is - ummm - errr - the eBay listing does not warn that the car is listed elsewhere? Quote
datoman Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 1974 Datsun 260Z $7,000.00 Negotiable http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/mount-barker/cars-vans-utes/1974-datsun-260z/1088213376?ea=5563475&utm_source=trigger&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=saved_search It is with heavy heart that the time has come that I must sell my unique piece of Japanese automobile history. Never letting me down I have owned her four years and have treated her to a number cosmetic upgrades. She was converted from 3 speed Auto to five speed manual Has had a full respray in Holden sting red (not the best but not the worst either) She is currently running twin SU's from a TR6 I believe Up front she is riding on Koni adjustable shocks and KYB bring up the rears, a much welcomed improvement over the original I tell you. The interior, both front and rear is neat and tidy with minimal wear with no rips and there are NO CRACKS in the dash. She also sports a wooden steering wheel from a 240Z.and the gear knob as pictured. The wheels have also been reverbed and all have the original z centre caps and the tyres have plenty of tread left on them. There is also a fire extinguisher mounted under the glove box Custom made centre console to house radio and speakers. The rear bumper was removed and flushed as per photos and front spoiler⁄lip added Comes with most if not all the original badges and some spares The bad bits Not currently registered but walk in rego (she was on a seasonal rego) . Being over 35 years old there is a small amount of rust on the bulk head by the battery compartment and the bottom of the rear hatch has had a not so clever repair somewhere in its long history. I have bought the replacement rear panel with all intentions to do it correctly but never got round to it as life got in the way. There is a small leak from the manifold or down pipe that I haven’t been able to find yet and the diff needs to be changed for the manual that I will supply with the sale again just something that I had planned to do but just ran out of time. The front bonnet hinges are worn and the bonnet dose not sit flush easy fix if you have the time and the technical skills. With the sale comes a few spares including manual diff a few extra badges some rear brake pads and a L26 head that I was able to pull from a wreakers a while back just in case. I am genuinely gutted to put this up for sale as this was our wedding car that I poured my heart and soul into to get ready in time however I think it’s time to pass the baton so that this car can continue to be looked after and restored to its former glory. If you have any questions please ask No Swaps. Quote

Administrators gav240z Posted September 8, 2015 Author Administrators Posted September 8, 2015 Should mess with him, if I felt so inclined I'd participate in scam baiting but eh... You would be a proper wood duck if you thought you could get a car like that for $16k. oldmates260z 1 Quote

GongZ Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 I just found the facebook page of the guy who restored this car (HS30-00365). He uploaded a video to his page on the 16th of August, showing the new owner, from Brisbane driving off in the car. The new owner's name is given - and it is not Lt. Steve Rodriguez Therefore - Good call oldmates260Z It's a scam! I wasn't looking forward to the bus ride to Tindal, Northern Territory anyway, and I have avoided being called a 'wood duck' by Gavin. oldmates260z 1 Quote
dat2kman Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 I think he "is based at Tindal RAAF base in NT" but in one advert the car is at Westbrook? Just ourside Toowoomba? Be fun the bait the scammer and find out actual lcation of the car, which f course the scammer does not have! So that it can be "inspected and cash paid!" Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted September 9, 2015 Author Administrators Posted September 9, 2015 Shame there is no way to report the ad to the people who run that classifieds site. Get it de-listed. And i thot scams only happens in malaysia... Hehehe... Very much doubt the actual person behind the ad lives in Australia, no doubt they are somewhere in Nigeria. I'm pretty sure his accent is like this guy. Quote

Administrators gav240z Posted September 12, 2015 Author Administrators Posted September 12, 2015 I was tempted to offer $50, just to give him the heebie jeebies. But at this stage it looks like I"d have to be careful when transplanting it to my garden and I'd have to water it daily so it didn't die. Joking aside I can't see any obvious rust coming through.. So maybe it's not that bad? Quote
