Most of the time if its done right and not with a rattle-can job its a much cleaner look in my opinion. Also done for the fact if someone often changes the exterior colour of their car they can leave the engine in ;).

And that is the real reason most do the black....to lazy to remove the motor, loom, brake lines to do it right, I can understand that just in my opinion, just like you I have one, it is just tacky and takes away from any other good work done on a build. The only black engine I have had in a 240z was a black car.

My 260Z had the 240Z style gauges and (once upon a time) had an amp gauge. From my research the "new font" gauges came in for the 1976 model year cars and there are a handful of volt gauges with the old style font which I am desperate for!

Just because a car has a black engine bay doesn't mean the owner is hiding something dodgy.. I decided to paint mine gloss black as to take peoples eye's off the wiring and hoses/lines and have the engine itself as a centrepiece. Done by many even top quality show cars/hotrods. Black especially if gloss shows imperfections even more.

mine was a rattle can job in the engine bay, i just got the shits with the faded forest metallic green. but for the time and effort it came up a million bucks :D

Here is a 240z, he wants just under 10k Who thought it was a good idea with those sun roofs back in the day.

I don't know mate, those sunroofs... well Z owners have been removing them ever since, at great expense.

The roof would be the least of my concerns though, it just looks rotten all over. Complete at least for the most part though. If you got it cheap and could do the body work yourself it would be a good car, otherwise I wouldn't recommend someone buy it with the intention of paying someone else to restore. ;)

Beautiful gunmetal grey V8 260z for sale on carsales:

Question:

This car is fully engineered with RTA approval in NSW. Must it be re-engineered if brought into VIC?

It's my understanding that every state has it's own rules and regulations so would be best to call VicRoads and ask. Although I'm sure others on here could tell you for sure.

It does look mean with those black wheels. I spy a C4 Corvette and 928 Porsche also in the driveway, this guy has a thing for V8s :).

National Codes are in effect but i'm sure it varies from place to place, one thing you can count on is that the brake test will be the same everywhere.

I think the brakes must be from a R33 GTS-T, NOT R33 GTR as the ad says. I believe all R33 GTR had Brembo brakes.

I'm sure only the "V Spec" GTR's came with the Brembo's. All GTS-T's and GTR's came with the Sumitumo calipers.

No only the r32 gtrs were like that. In fact only the r32 gtr v-spec 2 (late 93/94 had brembos. All r33-r34 gtrs have brembos in both normal and v-spec. I had a few r32/r33 gtrs so im quite knowledgeble when it comes to them.

Those calipers in that ad are from a r32 gtst (sumitomo). R33 gtst are abit different more similar to z32 calipers with the fins also sumitomo

R32 GTR V spec I also had Brembos, not  only R32 V spec II. Yes you are right - all R33 GTR and R 34 GTR had them

too.

This came up on my newsfeed today, may be some question as to its authenticity, but at first look, a Z432 is up for auction.

(yea, you'll need bookface to see it)

Hold on to your hats folks. This is actually the first time I've seen one come through auction in the last decade. A GENUINE Fairlady Z 432. The glorious S20 with 4 valves per cylinder, 3 carbs and 2 cams. Only 400-odd were built originally, and a 6.8 million start price should give you an idea of where the price is heading. I.e. into 6 figures landed. Don't enquire unless you have an open cheque book. Comes up tomorrow. In the meantime, be content to drool. I'd actually sell my N1 for one of these.

With 280z hood vents in it? Oh dear.... where is that Michael Jackson Popcorn Image when you need it?

It 'apparently' has the right chassis number and a s20 engine, but to quote Jesus, "believing what you read on the internet makes you no more smarter than a redditor."

Seller of that baby blue one said 'Some rust'. We all know what that means.

I didn't get a good look at the one that just sold for 10k, but seemed pretty honest & was a rare color combo.

Also looked original and no sun roof to remove. I'd say an excellent base car to start with.

But the 260z 2 seated for 20k is still a bargain if you consider the effort it will take to get the 10k car to that standard.
