George Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 ahaha "Time to build your own track car that at certain angles has a sort of Ferrari Daytona or Daytona Coupe look." It sort of kind of might do 200 mph if you push it really fast off a cliff. Quote

Lynton Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 I am guessing it is in FNQ which is still a long way a way even when I live in SEQ hence why it is well priced to appeal to someone to transport it down south??? lynton Quote

Depends how you look at it, I only live around the corner from Edward Lee's now, so I'd be happy to inspect it if people want to get an idea of what it's like (outside of photos)? It is a pretty high price based on those photos. I think the red 1 he had was better value. Quote
James51 Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 I've been talking to the bloke with the 17.9k Red 240z in QLD. I'm thinking about driving up there soon to take a look. Any tips for me? I've only been to see rust buckets before. Quote

I guess he's a business?....Doesn't mean he'll sell it at that price though and it's not a Datsun 260z, it's an S31 Fairlady Z. Hence the '260z style dashboard' with early '240z' style tail lamps. Good to know I've seen a few JDM cars with the 240z style rear lights and 260z style dash so I thought it was a transitional year car change, but obviously these things can be changed and we all know the 240z rear lights are best haha . What's strange is that it has 240z style gauges though! No Volt Gauge! It does have the taller rear shock towers though, which is what later 260z/280z bodies in foreign markets had. Black engine bays don't look dirty! Quote
NZeder Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 No Volt Gauge! It does have the taller rear shock towers though, which is what later 260z/280z bodies in foreign markets had. Black engine bays don't look dirty! early stuff had amp not volt even on 260z and s31, I have seen 3 different types of the tall tower too. One like 240z aka open but taller, ones with a cap over the top but no mounts for seat belt bracket or seat belts and the ones with the much larger cap with the 5 welded on nuts for the seat Bertrand seat belt brackets. Exactly what dirt/rust/dodgy repair are they trying to hide with the black engine bay. Quote
Retro Z Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 Just because a car has a black engine bay doesn't mean the owner is hiding something dodgy.. I decided to paint mine gloss black as to take peoples eye's off the wiring and hoses/lines and have the engine itself as a centrepiece. Done by many even top quality show cars/hotrods. Black especially if gloss shows imperfections even more. Most of the time if its done right and not with a rattle-can job its a much cleaner look in my opinion. Also done for the fact if someone often changes the exterior colour of their car they can leave the engine in . Quote
