A few people have asked about the written off status, so I ran the Vin and payed for a certificate

Model: 1975 260z 2 seater Location: Coolangatta (10min from Gold Coast Airport) Price and Payment Conditions: $34,000 ono, If I can't get what I need may part out Item Condition: Full Disclaimer! Car went through a flood 10mths ago, I've stripped the interior, had the engine and carbs flushed, drove it up the street a couple times and had someone spend 2 days detailing it! Since then I've replaced and upgraded the suspension and brakes. Spare gearbox went under but was drained and fill with oil is in unknown condition. Car has a clean title, NOT a write-off Main things to sort are electrical and gearbox Ive owned this car for over 15years and slowly been building it. Since flood just can't get the motivation back to finish it so I moved onto another car. A lot of money has gone into it, at last count well over 60k. I know you can never recoup that, but not going to let it go for a silly price! No worries Peter anytime! I will probably just get back into a few hillclimbs and sprints to start with, then maybe a couple days at Morgan Park or QR nothing to serious don't want to bend it! Heard the fibreglass clams are a tad expensive! Yeah it pretty much is what they say, a registered go kart, no power steering, air con barely works and only electronic driver aid is ABS. Just how I wanted it!

After much consideration I have to decided to purchase my dream car and sell my Z. When I first purchased a Z 15 years ago they were a cheap car that I enjoyed working on over the years. Now with values up towards the price of the car I always wanted and the car going under water in the flood wrecking my motivation and breaking my heart. I still do love the Z but the wife said I could only have 1 toy. My Dad sold the 2+2 already and my made an offer on my Z so I'm just waiting for him to come up with the cash. At least I will still get to drive it!! The new toy is a 2008 Lotus Elise, mid engine, rear wheel drive, 850kg wet Thanks everyone for the help and support over the years, my dad may even continue the build thread and I will probably still check up every now and then to see what happens. I think thats what I will do, don't really want to do another gearbox unless I spend the money and do it properly (stronger and better ratios)

1 steps forward, 4 steps back Made some Custom brackets for my rear stainless bumper as the mounting points didn't match up to my factory brackets. Since the flood, the clutch has been stuck to the flywheel and gearbox doesn't move and is stuck in gear. Had to pull the exhaust and extractors back off and it makes it hard to remove tail shaft when it doesn't spin. Can't open the gearbox properly as I assume its stuck in gear... and I'm not sure if its worth spending the time on this gearbox

I'm in the same boat, spending way to much time building a place to work on the cars. But it sure does make it a more enjoyable environment to be in! Great workplace but That timber work is to nice for a workbench !!!

So I think I need to spend less time building a work shop and more time building a Z !!! Took about 100hrs and the boss gave me the stainless for $300. Still got a few things to finish off like plumb the sink in, make a broom cupboard at the righthand end and make a cover for where the compressor goes under the bench on the lefthand end. But I'm pretty happy with the way its worked out, makes it a nice spot to enjoy working on the Z and get away from the misses.

Looking at prices its only $36.30 per hour

Me and 2 Mates are about to do something similar for my bucks party but not an organised event. We've booked one way tickets from Gold Coast to Adelaide. Buying a car for under $1000 and driving home along the coast via the great ocean road and probably sell it when we get home. Fly out in 16 days, haven't picked a car yet but can't wait! Maybe we can sell it to you Gav, that way you know its tried and tested for a long trip and not far from the Brisbane start line

Honestly I'm a little disappointed that Zs have increased so much in value. When I purchased mine in 2002, it was $1500 a good first car. Even though I've never driven it, I had hopes. It was embarrassing at school all my friends thought it was ugly. Fast forward 8yrs I do a bit more work to it spend way more than it was worth on paint, panel and parts. I planned on keeping it forever. Now Values are closer to what I've spent over the years (minus labour) Its a lot of money sitting there that I consider selling it when its finished to pay I good chunk off the house. It also makes you rethink your plans and direction of the restoration. But hopefully once its registered I decide its to good to sell and would always regret it. But if prices stayed low I would never consider selling it!
