Any idea if those motors were ever used in other models? I've been thinking of doing the Honda upgrade but wondering if there is other options?

I believe they simply re-wound the original type motors and modified (shortened) the pinions on the linkages.

They had a couple of other rally-specific functions in that they had a wired-in intermittent timer switch (this was before stock intermittent fitting) and also a 'one hit' wash/wipe switch for the navigator to play with.

An auto electrician friend made quite a trade from supplying the wiper motor upgrade by re wiring it so it ran at faster speeds and supplying a wiring harnes and set of manual switches that were mounted in front of the navigator. This was a significant improvement on the original wipers and washers at the time for all make of car. The other modification that became almost standard was to re wire the alternator upgrading it to higher capacity to run all of the extra electrical loads. Also fitting a smaller drive pulley to help prevent failures at constant high revolution.

The Gulf Oil paint scheme is nice and the car well built and executed. For me though it has no real historical connection or relevance so that's why it's not something I would build but as far modified S30z's go it's great.

I still to this day see some customisation that just makes me shake my head in disbelief... This car is not 1 of those cars though.

It's as if I can hear clicks on Alan's keyboard from here...but it does have some nice period footage at least.

In depth look at the Gas Monkey 2+2:

It irks me that he calls an S30Z a "tuner" car, when the car existed before the phrase was even coined...

Hi Guys,

I set up my cam in the car yesterday and thought I’d go for a bit of a cruise through the Sideling here in Tassie and over to St Helens and do a loops.

Here are a couple of videos if your interested, I didn’t go too hard as it’s been awhile since I have driven the road along with you never know what’s coming around the corner and I do like my licence but it was still a fun outing.

Cheers,

Justin

You have some fantastic roads down there.

Hi Guys,

This video is just a short reminder that Tassie roads can be and are a lot of fun, there are corners after corner winding up and down some beautiful country but please take it easy if you cherish your cars and possibly your life.

This video is a section taken out of one of the videos I took the other day while going on during the same day of the two other videos posted. This is the reason why I was being cautious the other day as it only takes one stuff up ;)

Cheers,

Justin

A shorter video of this car build was posted a few months ago. This video covers it in more detail. Lots of hours have gone into this little jigger.
