With the cost of an entry into the rally being ~$100,000 and then the prep work to have your car improved so it would survive the rough roads in the first 18 days it looks like this is a dream for most of us : https://peking2pariscar96.files.wordpress.com/2019/05/regulations-peking-to-paris-2019.pdf

Cleaning and then adding white grease to the window winder roller guides/channels? should also help. -
Yep, apparently in the event in 2010: https://www.smh.com.au/sport/motorsport/board-game-king-rolls-genteel-race-rivals-in-aussie-battlers-car-20101017-16p51.html "......The roads in Kazakhstan were like they had been bombed. They just build them and that's it. They don't have the money to maintain them,'' he said. Mr Crown, 78, the oldest driver in this year's race, started the event in the passenger's seat after Chinese authorities refused to give him a driver's licence......" EDIT : Found this in the regs (link in post below): 8.2 Any crew member over the age of 70 years on 1 June 2019 may not be permitted to drive on the Chinese sections of the route.

At the half way point Australian entries are running 1st, 4th, 6th and 7th with 240Zs in 2nd, 5th and 6th positions - still a long way to go though.

Cars For Sale (3rd Party Sites) Ebay, Carsales etc..
AndBir replied to gav240z's topic in Cars For Sale
Very early model 260Z : RS30000104 https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/morwell/cars-vans-utes/1974-datsun-260z-automatic-coupe/1220673806 EOI - best offers over 20k considered I'm considering selling my Datsun 260z. Sometimes we have to be realistic as to whether we are going to do something or not & priorities change. It's been stored in a shed since 2000 when it last ran. I believe the only thing missing is an aircleaner, I'm not a mechanice so don't quote me on this. All numbers match and there is remarkably little rust considering how vulnerable they are in some areas. See photo's for details. -

As the "spare floor pan" has the 260z type "tool boxes" then could weinfer it is from a 260z and not a 240z as implied by the wording of the advert?
-
See if the guy selling this 240z will sell you his spare floor pan / rear (photo 5) https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/mitchell/cars-vans-utes/240z/1216220313

Also put back the door cards, rear lining, seats, seat belts etc. etc. Still need new front and rear carpets and to put back new center console plus heaps more "little" things.

Back to the farm to do some work on the car: Put the engine/gearbox back in Put in the recored radiator and installed the webers Thankfully LCR had machined down the inlet manifold to match the thickness of exhaust manifold so not issues with securing them using the original washers Added some insulation and new plastic lining to the internals of the doors and insulated the rear qtr panels

Looking to finally put the L28 engine and gearbox back the the 260z and wondered if anyone could help me out with an engine crane/hoist (foldable type to fit in a station wagon). Car is in East Gippsland but I am in Melbourne (eastern suburbs) so I would be needing it for around 10 days for the install / round trip. Planning to head out of Melbourne around the 8th May.

Not that I know of in Australia so the postage costs from OS will be way more than the washers : https://www.zeddsaver.com/products/datsun-240z-front-fender-washers Maybe new standard type washers and an angle grinder with a cut off wheel?
