  1. I don’t know the figure off the top of my head sorry. It was a good thing I took it in because apparently it was locked up and wouldn’t advance!
  2. I have a rebuilt and recurved 280ZX electronic distributor which was also done by Performance Ignition in Nunawading, from memory it was about $300 odd for the rebuild. I used to have an MSD aftermarket system and the rebuilt dizzy is simpler and works just as well as any aftermarket system. It actually works better than the MSD ever did!
  3. The big change(in my opinion) which has ruined the scheme was the change allowing for "non-financial" members to be able to get club permits. This has meant a bunch of internet forums/facebook car clubs have sprung up where they issue club permits to anyone who has a valid RWC. I get the old world car club model is a bit stuffy for some but it at least controlled numbers of cars getting permits and encouraged prospective club permit owners to share their hobby with like minded people.
  4. I'm a member of CSA and raised this last night at our monthly meeting. CSA run an event at the end of the year called Datsun Day. It a car show which is run in November where all profits are donated to charity, you may have heard of it... The NDSOC have now created this "All Nissan Day" event and to be frank it cuts the lunch of Datsun Day and is almost certainly going to impact the fundraising abilities of the November event because it is so similar. I was told that the event format change was not discussed with CSA (CSA's name is on the banner because we typically volunteer to help) and if that is the case that's quite disappointing from the NDSOC Committee.
  5. Sorry to hear about your mother. My mum died from lung cancer back in 2013 after a short battle, she was a passive smoker (never smoked herself). Unfortunately for her she grew up in an era where smoking and second hand smoke was inescapable. Not related to your mother at all but the smokers who argue that they have done it for their whole lives and are still healthy really rub me up the wrong way. Their actions can have a larger impact than them as individuals and the collective impact of their actions are largely overlooked, I call it an of collective responsibility. You could apply the logic of my last sentence e to a lot of other things in life I guess, but I'm waffling. This is a great thread and a great story Mike, thanks for sharing.
  6. Has to be, who spells Dennis with only one n?
  7. In future read the thread a bit more thoroughly...
  8. Try this one: https://www.efihardware.com/products/261/lift-pump-340hp-Rollercell
  9. My brother uses one of these in his IDA 13B RX7. They work well but your pump MUST supply fuel to it at a lowish pressure, they get overwhelmed if the supply pressure is over 10psi.
  10. I'm interested pending compatibility with the 260Z chassis
  11. I have nothing constructive to add but when you do find a local supplier let us know.
  12. F2 emulsion tubes were developed for methanol applications. Try F11 or F7 instead.
  13. Whoops sorry I thought I had listed a price. $500
  14. The Alfa fibreglass ones have the embossed section from memory
  15. Both items sold, that was quick!
  16. Hi All, I'm moving a different direction with my car so I have some now surplus gear for sale: 1. Triple Dellorto DHLA40 carb kit suits stock L28 The carbs were rebuilt to as new condition in 2012 and turned by Les Collins Racing in Wurragul in late 2013. Since then the car would be lucky to have driven 5,000km on them. The setup would be best suited on a stock or mild L28 but would be an easy tune up for any other L series engine. I would suggest they be re-synchronised as I haven't balanced them since mid-2017 but they have consistently kept their tune since I put them on with only very minor adjustments required. Included in the sale price is everything you can see in the photos and a firewall to carby linkage throttle rod not seen in the photos. You won't need anything else need to remove your old carbs and put these on besides a manifold gasket. If you are using a non-standard fuel pump I would recommend a fuel pressure regulator and gauge. **SOLD** 2. Crane Hi-6 ignition system This is the closest thing you will get to a plug and play CDI or MSD 6AL style system for a Datsun 240Z/260Z. The kit includes: -Crane Hi-6 CDI ignition system housed in a 260Z glovebox -Crane LX92 ignition coil -MSD tach adapter -40k uF capacitor (recommended by Crane if placing the unit further away than their standard wiring kit allowed for, which I did) -Complete plug and play wiring harness using weatherproof connectors This kit is configured for any 6 cylinder L series using a magnetic pickup distributor such as a 280ZX/L28E distributor. I installed this kit to hide the unit and wiring as much as possible and it looked very tidy when in the car. A very small amount of wiring would need to be completed when installing the kit but anyone with the most basic grasp of wiring should be able to wire it in no problems. If I could anyone can! **SOLD** Can post both items at buyers expense, located Northern Suburbs Melbourne

  18. Thanks everyone that came, great weather and a great turnout
  19. I’m working in the morning but I’ll make an appearance in the afternoon. A lot of effort from myself and the rest of the CSA Committee has gone into this event. All profits go to the Cancer Council so please please please PLEASE come on down, even if it’s only for a few hours! We want to raise as much money as we can!
  20. It’s a long shot but if whoever is collecting these parts wants to sell the front grill I am very keen
  21. My car is almost identical to your car in terms of spec and original intention and like you I imagine I would struggle to sell it. I bought my car as a very enthusiastic 20 year old kid that was excited that it had a roll cage. I wanted to take mine to track days, but my car was 1/4 of the purchase price of your car. The market for Datsuns was completely different back then and I believe there was more space in the market for cars like ours (cheaper = better suited to being a "toy" vs an investment). I think 1600Dave was on the money, the cage would scare a lot of people off. Take the cage out, take the semis off and sell them separate to the car. Someone looking for a weekend bruiser will jump at it.
  22. Seems cheap, but there is no mention of the car's history in the article which would most likely explain the lower price. Looking at what it sold for my guess is it would be a UK import or missing a big chunk of ownership history. Or both.
