  1. "Devil Z" is a reference to the S30Z in the Japanese movie "Wangan Midnight" - but this car is not very similar to the blue 240Z in that movie at all. (Apart from the fact that, as has been pointed out in another topic here, when the car is originally seen in a wrecking yard - it is a 2+2)

  3. Do you mean 10km or 10Kkm (10,000km)?
  4. I have just read all the way through the Classiczcars topic about S30-00002 and my brain now hurts. I think the most likely explanation of this car is given in kats' post (number #123) here; http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/16632-save-s30-0002/page-7 where he says; "One thing I have heard recently from a man who worked for Nissan, it was common in Nissan Shatai (manufacture) stamping duplicate chasiss number for test assembling. Like 00002 or some super early number would have been used again, they thought no-problem because those numbered car never be able to get out the factory anyway, they (real 00002 and duplicate 00002) are test cars. This is just my thought,I think this car is not 1969/ S30-00002. I think in 1971 they made this car and stamp S30-00002 on the firewall." To further support this theory, compare the positions and alignment of the chassis numbers on PS30-00009 and S30-00003 ("Taken from the very first Factory Workshop manual for the Japanese market cars, and published in 1969" - Alan T. in post #74, page 4) to the number on S30-00002.

  7. Good one Mark. Is your father enjoying the build as much as you and your brother?
  8. Engine in = a big bit of progress! I like the way you have used blue tape too - I have heard that red tape slows things down quite a bit.

  10. I will settle for a peek at the "pressure cooker" then.
  11. It looks like an excellent turn out - well done guys. I hope Peter can add a pic or two of a concours Jimny.
  12. You must be missing the "holder" section of the part called "Holder - Sunvisor" (Key No. 19) - which in the parts diagram seems to be two separate parts?
  13. Very nice work - and keep the photos coming please! How about getting your brother to add this car to the register (http://wazregister.com/), or maybe add it yourself? It is still the highest known 240Z chassis number in Australia.
  14. I don't know if this interests you, but - on eBay - "Datsun 260z steering column with ignition barrel and key" - Buy it now $100 "Add 20 bucks for WA QLD and tassie postage" http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Datsun-260z-steering-colum-with-ignition-barrel-and-key-/272051353701?hash=item3f57863865:g:HmMAAOSwZVhWTs49
  15. I was wondering if it might have been called a 1976 240Z because of this -
  16. That is a 21 or 23 window early 1960's Kombi - and they are worth a small fortune (equivalent to the value of several S30's) these days when restored, so I don't feel too sorry for the owner.
  17. Try tea
  18. Hi Gavin, I have been looking at the newly added cars and ... HS30-00310 - clicking on the link "More photos (link here) - 907 Green was the original colour." - gives a response of - "Sorry, that page was not found." on the picasaweb site. = https://picasaweb.google.com/107400787026175995661/HS3000036?authkey=Gv1sRgCMWyzIi4wI_iigE&feat=directlink HS30-00319 - there are more photos at http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/12627-what-a-difference-a-set-of-wheels-makes/?do=findComment&comment=150014
  19. But can you enforce a warranty/guarantee when it is mispelled?
  20. If I may - Andrew (240Z-au) said in reply #23 of this topic; "Then the big decision, deep or blast??..Help!!" The pros and cons of this stripping process were then discussed in replies #32 to #40. I think it will be just fine - this car was in excellent condition when Andrew bought it. After Andrew posted 15 detailed photos of the body shell in reply #48 - Katokid described this car as "one of the best condition original cars I've seen" (reply #49). I am looking forward to seeing some photos of the results too - and comparing them to the photos in reply #48.
  21. I purchased a CD copy of "Nissan S30 240Z 260Z 69-79 parts book on CD" from About Time Spares earlier this year on eBay. They currently have this listed on eBay for $14.99 + $2.00 postage; http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Nissan-S30-240Z-260Z-69-79-parts-book-CD-/181865214346?hash=item2a5802f18a This is a pdf copy of the December 1979 revision of the Datsun 240Z-260Z Parts Catalogue, Publication Number C-0010R - i.e. the "Original Parts Book". The pdf file has 806 pages. They also have some other interesting S30 & S130 literature on their website; http://www.abouttimespares.com.au/showpartslist.asp?cat=4&sub=108&subsub=2280
  22. Hi Peter - are they different volumes, or 2 copies of the same book? They both have the same Publication Number of C-0010R. If he has 2 copies - surely he would be open to offers for one of them? Edit - I now realise that one copy is June 1974 and the other is December 1974
