  1. The 'Photo Link' under the pic of #00160 still takes me to Page 1 of this topic (http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/13773-early-girl-bingo-with-photos/#msg173192). The link you added to the carsguide feature for the same car does what it should. My 'LOL' was due to the fact that the replies to this topic regarding HS30-00213 (and HS30-01001) are numbers 149 and 150. When I typed them, I immediately recognised them as being the chassis numbers of Lurch's car and your car.
  2. @Gavin / gav240z - no, I am not sure - hopefully the Z-shop will answer your query on facebook to clarify. A couple of other comments; On Page 1 - HS30 00160 (Member Magnus) - Photo link - the link takes you to Page 1 (circular link) Curtis posted about 00213 on Page 8 of this topic http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/13773-early-girl-bingo-with-photos/page-8 - posts #149 & #150 (LOL @ the coincidental numbers - i.e. Lurch & Gav's cars) The current version of Craig's WA register, has the the following cars, which are not shown on Page 1; (Note - I have included the date when they were added to the register - in case you think they are too old to still be relevant) 00086 - Added: November 19, 2013 00155 - Added: May 14, 2001 (Details from IZCC register.) 00209 - Added: May 11, 2008 00212 - Added: September 19, 2009 00217 - Added: June 12, 2007 00280 - Added: June 12, 2005 00293 - (includes photo) Added: March 2, 2005 00296 - (includes photo) Added: November 5, 2007 00300 - Added: February 14, 2010 00306 - Added: May 26, 2009 00308 - Added: November 28, 2014 00316 - Added: May 5, 2009 00317 - (includes photo) Added: September 19, 2015 00330 - Added: October 14, 2009 00373 - (includes photo) Added: December 18, 2007 00379 - (includes photo) Added: June 18, 2007 00696 - Added: December 17, 2005 The following cars are not listed in numerical order – i.e. shown after 00696; 00269 - Added: January 2, 2009 00352 – (NZ) Added: January 5, 2005 00618 - Added: January 6, 2010 00682 - Added: January 12, 2005 00689 - Added: April 24, 2007 00692 - Added: January 10, 2005 00707 - Added: February 7, 2007 00785 - Added: February 19, 2005 00794 - Added: September 13, 2005 00803 - Added: September 11, 2015 00821 - Added: March 21, 2007 00828 - Added: May 30, 2005 00888 - Added: September 20, 2012 00908 - Added: January 10, 2007 00909 - Added: December 7, 2012 00958 - Added: February 24, 2006
  3. Exhaust Drone "when an engine gets to a certain revs, the exhaust resonates (vibrates in a frequency) and gives off a hum/noise that sounds like a large subwoofer with voltage coming through it !.... a dull constant noise... hard to describe lol... pain in the ass if its at the speed limit !" - http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/vz-holden-commodore-2004-2006/146627-what-does-m-ean-drone.html
  4. Thanks Tony - they look very classy too.
  5. Hello Tony, I should have come over and looked at your car first. I took a distant photo of it and 5 minutes later, I looked back and you had gone. I am sorry to have missed you. Now that I know your user name - I have had a look at your intro post; http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/13185-blue-mountains-new-member/?do=findComment&comment=157294 - your car looks very nice indeed. Do you know what the original exterior colour was? The tan interior was only available on a few colours in Australia, and yours looks to be a superb condition. Are you a member of a local (to you) car club that you were parked with at Kiama? - Ian Edit - corrected link to your "Introduction" post.
  6. Hello Tony, Thank you for contributing this topic - I hope it will help me to avoid buying foam kits too. Would you mind telling us where you sourced the seat covers and what type they are? They look like either leather or imitation leather .
  7. locklock, this was a strange feature of the Australian & NZ market 240Z's. Apart from the odd exceptions, such as HS30-00035 (registered as MBP.72J, which was the first road test 240Z in the UK), all other 240Z's had the fender mounted lights. I have no idea why they were deleted for our markets, it has puzzled me for years.
  8. I believe that they would only be acceptable in pre-1972 cars, due to ADR 22 (Australian Design Rule 22 for Head Restraints). https://infrastructure.gov.au/roads/motor/design/pdf/22.pdf The 'legality' of low back seats was discussed in September in this thread; http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/13957-hotrod-almost-kameari-style-autotechnica-seats/
  9. Yea but Paul Newman was so rich he had to lean a bit
  10. According to the Z car shop, they have HS30-00036 AND HS30-00060 AND HS30-00162 AND HS30-00208 AND HS30-00422 at their workshop!!

    Radiator Fan

Hi locklock, Do you mean a 280Z fan or a 280ZX fan? As I am sure you know, we didn't get the 280Z in Australia, so that might be one reason why no-one has answered you yet. Have a look at this topic on the classiczcars website - http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/28535-280zx-fan-on-a-240z/ - particularly post #3 by sblake01 If you look at the listings and photos for plastic fans on the Zstore site - http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/CTGY/classic15m - they have a 7 blade 240Z fan for US$102.10. Their 260Z & 280Z fans are the same and have 8 blades. They also show an 8 bladed 280ZX fan - but list it as being out of stock. There is a 7 blade 240Z fan for sale by total-z on US eBay for US$128.99 + US35.44 (for international postage) - http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-240z-Engine-Fan-Blade-Plastic-NOS-/281851589410?_trksid=p2141725.m3641.l6368
  12. I went to this event last Sunday and in spite of the start/stop rain, I really enjoyed it. Here are some photos that I took; This '73 240Z was in a group of mixed makes, but I think some of the members here might know the car - which may be "Tony's red beauty"? - The Z Car Club of Sydney did a great job of representing the Datsun/Nissan Z's with at least one example of every model. This very original (don't mention the front blinker position!) 240Z was in excellent condition - This 240Z was at the other end of the row and the spectrum of originality - One 'champagne' 260Z 2+2 and one red 260Z 2+2 - A silver 280ZX and a yellow 280ZX - One Z31 - A standard looking white Z32 and a sparkly custom Z32 - A solitary black 350Z - And finally, a pair of 370Z's - It was terrific to chat to some of the Z Car Club of Sydney members and I even got to see this in person;
  13. That is so true Peter.
  14. HS30-00219 I just spotted this eBay listing; http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Classic-Car-Mag-1998-1954-57-VW-Beetle-Mazda-RX3-Datsun-240Z-Lagonda-Rapier-Mini-/111821534695?hash=item1a091535e7:g:sToAAOSwrklVNJD6 (eBay item number:111821534695) - which is for a copy of the May 1998 edition of "Australian Classic Car" magazine. The listing includes a photo of pp.66-67, which is an article about HS30-00219. There is a picture of the car - albeit blatantly mirror reversed - presumably just so that it faces to the right. The article states that the car was originally 'burnt orange' (Kalahari Tan?). It also contains the old 'designed by Goertz' furphy and some claimed production numbers. This car is listed on the wazregister, but has not yet been listed on page 1 of this topic. I believe that this car still has the same owner, who is an AusZcar member, but I will leave it to him to claim it.
  15. Hello Luke, I am a bit confused here. Firstly, there is no such thing as a 1974 240Z, unless you mean a 1973 that was not registered until 1974. In any case, it looks like the car in your photos is a 240Z rather than a 260Z. Secondly, as far as I know, neither the 240Z nor the 260Z had a rubber strip on top of the window frame. The waterproofing relies on the stainless steel window frame sealing against the rubber weatherstrip that is attached to the door opening on the body of the car. My guess is that the rubber strip shown in your photo is a generic strip that has been glued on in an attempt to solve a leak (due to an incorrect/worn out weatherstrip on the body). You should also make clear (as Cozza pointed out) which side you need - driver or passenger. Edit - it seems that the US 280Z's used a "Window Frame (Sash) Rubber"; http://www.zcarsource.com/window-frame-sash-rubber-280z-75-78-left-new_8_56660_63781.html
  16. The part number for the 240Z (up to July '73) heater core is 27115-E4400 - according to the "S30 - 240Z-260Z Parts Catalogue Microfiche" CD that I have.
  17. 00036, 00162, 00208 & 00422 - listed on Z car shop – facebook page https://www.facebook.com/708176415926972/photos/a.708183122592968.1073741827.708176415926972/875209845890294/?type=3&theater 00060 - listed on Z car shop – facebook page as "240Z Justin 1969/70 #60" https://www.facebook.com/Z-shop-Melbourne-708176415926972/?fref=ts - Sep 17 (2015) post 00859 - now being restored by AusZcar member 240Z_au http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/13938-andrews-yellow-240z-sydney-australia/
  18. Splash pan on eBay (item # 301791885326) - starting bid $50, located in Kogarah NSW, ends 13 Nov, 2015 17:09:16 AEDST. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/240z-260z-under-engine-oil-pan-/301791885326?hash=item464432b80e:g:ajsAAOSwT5tWPEJq It is listed as "240z 260z under engine oil pan", but it looks like it is actually a 280Z version with a large hole at the front for the radiator drain plug. I believe that this type is also deeper than the 240Z/260Z type to accommodate the larger 280Z radiator. I did a Google search and it seems that 280ZX splash pans are/were very different again.
  19. Welcome to the forum Dyson. Congratulations on finding such a low number car. I have posted a link to this page under the 'Early Girl Bingo - With Photos' topic; http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/13773-early-girl-bingo-with-photos/page-8 I hope that the significant recent increase in the value of 240Z's, especially early examples, and the fabulous support that this forum provides will help you to recommence the restoration. I don't know if you have ever driven a 240Z - but if not, that is certainly something to look forward to as well.
  20. I hereby dob in new AusZcar member Dyson as the owner of HS30-00114. As revealed here; http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/14174-inspire-me-240z-build/ The car is currently 'hanging around' in Airlie Beach - lucky thing!
  21. Hi Ben, Would I be correct in assuming that the car is now in Wollongong?
  22. Thank you Mr BLU and Peter - very helpful. Now I should be able to convince my mate to upgrade from his inverter welder and drop all sorts of jobs off on his doorstep.
  23. This thread would be a lot more useful to those, like me, who never owned or used a welder, if statements like this were explained. Are you saying that a welder that only uses a 10 amp outlet has insufficient power for the most common tasks on an S30 restoration? Some mention/explanation of the benefits of gas versus gasless welding would also be very welcome.
  24. Hi Jock - could you be a little more specific about your location please?
  25. Thanks for that
