  1. Does it have the compliance plate? The Engine I.D tag only has the Chassis number stamped everything else is factory printed (chassis prefix, engine cc's, power output, wheel base, date of manufacture). EDIT: There are reproduction plates available. You will either need one of these or to find the original. The new plates can be stamped to suit the chassis number.
  2. It would look amazing with the same livery, a bit of show to match the new power plant
  3. 1) Honda S600 2) Porsche 356 I have seen a video of a red 1600 with a triple carbed L6, the fire wall was heavily modified and the rear carb was under angled part that the wiper motor is attached to.
  4. +1. It would be a great read, time and time again!
  5. Peter Mc ran this on one of his race cars and tested extensively, PM him.
  6. +1 full disassembly. With the correct manuals and correct tooling you can reassemble yourself. Piston #3 is steam cleaned I recommend a good coating of 'hylomar' on any head gasket before install, it's never failed us. I currently have a 'mismatched' block head combo on my L28 blocking water galleries, not ideal. So far with the Nissan 89mm OEM gasket, 'hylomar' coating and ARP head studs I have had zero issues at extreme conditions on track/road. That's with an LD28 water pump (much more flow/pressure) and a 'D.L Potter' water restrictor now NLA. ARP head studs are not much more than new OEM head bolts from Nissan and It's a no brainer. How much of this can you realistically do yourself and what tools do you have? Peter Mc did an excellent job for me at a very good price. His expert help years later has been invaluable.
  7. Excellent tip Mossy. Who did you use, you happy with the result?
  8. Thanks guys. It's for a 71 Datsun 1600, the shell was rubbed back to bare metal 10+yrs ago and left in a barn. Apart from the surface rust it appears rust free. The Doors, boot, bonnet are all still painted, but rust free from looking inside and out. Car is up Ballarat way, very happy to travel most places for a good job. Was just trying to estimate figures before making an offer. Do these places also do undercoating or etch priming of the blasted body? Recommendations welcome
  9. Thanks guys
  10. Hey guys, does anyone know the rough price to sandblast a a body shell, including doors, boot etc. Cheers, Gareth.
  11. "Not putting miles on your PMC stroker is like not having sex with your girlfriend so she'll be more desirable to her next boyfriend" hehe In all seriousness that would be a big drive in the Zed. Look foward to hearing more about this!
  12. Fat Bobs is getting really busy now. Last few times I have been it been jam packed, I'd say book if possible.
  13. Thanks gents that helps a lot!
  14. Hey guys, Does anyone know what is required when purchasing an unregistered car interstate? From what I've read it seems a sale receipt will do. It will need the current owners name, address, date of sale, rego number, and vin or chassis number. All this along with the owners signature should be enough? There is also the security, stolen vehicle checks done prior to sale. Cheers, Gareth.
  15. Welcome Graham, I love the look of that 1600 I'm helping my brother search for one at the moment. Like the Zeds, good examples are getting much harder to come by! You should be able to get something very decent in the range your looking. Best of luck with your search.
  16. So they changed to double roll pins on the later 71C boxes? My R32 box had/has double roll pins on everything.
  17. Thanks Mike
  18. Hey guys, I have some 300zx CV shafts from a Z31 Californian model. Are these of any use?
  19. Looks much cleaner without them! Wish I knew this when I did my car, I would've gotten rid of them too. My car is November 73 and has them fitted with factory connectors in the loom, perhaps they changed the laws later in the 240z's production? What sort of filler rod to you use Gav, is it brass or brown tip?
  20. Welcome Belinda, look forward to seeing the progress and hopefully a build thread when it all gets started. What are the plans for it, daily driver, weekender or track car?
  21. I have a 77 260 2+2, I'll check the door cards, arm rests and get back to you.
  22. Is it Mikuni HSR's? Look foward to seeing the progress on this.
  23. From what I know the only difference in the rear is the spline count and strength of the axles. The front hubs will alter the offset of the discs. Those R31 offsets are more like a 1600 setup. Good luck with it anyway mate.
  24. Should have great aero on the truck What brand rubber did you go with George? If the body is anything to go by the 1/4 window frame lower internal bracket will be toast. Mine was, I TIG welded that part of the frame together to rust proof it forever.
  25. 260 hubs are thicker and completely round, 240 hubs are 9mm thinner and have four scalloped cut outs on the outer edge of the hub face.
