Are you having issues at the moment? Maybe they need a tune. My car ran with the british SU's (fitted by previous owner) and stock 240z air cleaner for the last 7 years and the car was smooth as silk. I never had to tinker or tune them in all those years. Only last month replaced them with 3xDCOE's which is a lot of fun IMO, the 280zx efi looks messy and you noted originality ,but the other option of individual throttle bodies (I don't think you have this in mind) is big bucks.

Thanks Triptych, I did see that post. On modern cars, for example my missus' CRV it gives the stock wheel & tyre combo and 102T, the 102 load rating and T speed rating. So if I was to get aftermarket wheels and tyres I know I cannot go lower than 102 and slower than T. So with the Zed's placard it has the two tyre wheel combo's with 1230lbs (558kg) for the 175hr14 in which 88 load is ok. The other combo 195vr14 1280lbs(580.6kg). If you follow the rule of minimum you would round up and get a load rating of 90 which would make 89 illegal. Did the 260z come out in Australia with steel wheels and 175's? If so, you can use the 88 load for legality. So my question is, do we follow the 88 or the 90? Dave I totally agree with you, just curious on the legality. cheers, Mike

My tyre placard is faded and unread-able so just want to confirm the load rating for my 260z. Judging from the info I have found, the minimum load rating is 1280lbs which equates to 580.598kg. Load index 89=580kg so therefore the Zed must go to 90 as a minimum? The current tyres on my 16x8's are 205 55 16 with 91 load so while they are too narrow for the 8" rim, the load is ok. I don't want to run stretched tyres anymore and have read a few posts saying on the 16x8's the best size is to run 225 45 16. But from what I can see, there aren't much to choose from in this size and most of what I can see is load 89. I have been checking out what other Zeds are running, alot with the 16's are running 205 50's and some 15's with 205 55 with 86 or 87 load. I know alot of mods we perform on our cars aren't "legal" but what I am concerned about is safety-is a 89 tyre going to be dangerous? If so might go to 225 50 16 which has 92 load. So can someone confirm the minimum? Discuss. cheers, Mike.

16x8 zero offset, and d3c0y is right the +15 will make steering heavy. When I had the factory 260z alloys which were 195's on 14 inch with +15 offset it was much heavier than with current 16x8 zero.

Back in the late 90's/early 00's two of my friends got car jacked. One was a crx broad daylight and the other was a 200sx in market city car park. So we all bought these trackers when they were new technology, they ran on rechargeable AA's and needed a sim card. From memory the company offered packages depending on how you wanted to be updated eg either "pings" (on demand-you sms the unit) or real time with internet access. You just hide the unit inside the car, completely portable. I think I used to pay $20 a month + sim card. I reckon they would be more hi-tech and cheaper now. cheers, Mike

Kerrigan, I have been reading this thread for a while, and have been resisting temptation to chime in for a while but can no longer. I think the best thing you can do is just give up on your RHD zed and get a LHD or something US made so parts are cheap and just found on your doorstep. To me, you came across as someone trying to restore a s30 back to concourse condition, demanding oem correct parts etc. Which is a good thing of course. But your last statement about not wanting to pay $136 for the ID tag just astounds me. With your idea of how much parts are worth and what you're willing to pay, it's like you're from another planet. Out of interest, could you post some pics of your Zed and let us know how much you've spent so far? I'd imagine the USA is the best source of Zed parts for both LHD and RHD outside of Japan with the benefit of communicating in English. Personally I have bought lots of stuff from the USA from good people like Ataka for example. Yes, I did pay the $350 for new wipers and can't remember how much my new grille was. Of course Japan would be the most logical place to look for parts but the language barrier. So rhdjapan.com and jesse streeter can overcome those issues. Money speaks all languages but the problem is that you are not willing to spend so I guess that is the crux of the matter. So many people have tried to help you, but you are not willing to spend the money or trust the tried and true contacts so it's your problem. I am starting to think you are just a very sick troll. Alan, I don't know why you have spent so much time (years!) on this guy, you must be a masochist. It must be affecting your health. Best ignore and put more energy into the 432 project. Someone lock this thread already!

Agreed we shouldn't knock it until we actually see a race. Never had any allegiance to any particular team, just following the Aussie(s) and it's great to see that they replaced one Aussie (Webber) with another one in Daniel Ricciardo and that he is doing so well. Last couple of years have been a bit of a procession with Vettel a class above the rest, and while not begrudging him his talent and determination, it would be good to see him have to work a bit harder this year. I know it's racing politics, but I really hope Ricciardo doesn't draw the short straw if things get close between himself and Vettel. Also hoping the Nissan V8's pick up the pace too, how good are the Volvo's straight out of the box?

From prior experiences, your $850 shipping costs should not be factored into the value of the goods therefore no GST applicable. It is only calculated on the cost of the goods, ie $350 so you are way under the AU$1000 limit for GST application. True. Auto level and washers are required. But I suspect most people know this but don't care. I dabbled with HID's on my daily which has H3 globes in a projector. It had manual level not auto but no washers of course. And because I put the HID globe in a projector designed for H3 halogen, the light was sprayed all over the place and dangerous. Took them straight out.

Also, with some of the L-series gearboxes there were s-kinked gearsticks as well.

I have for sale a staggered set of Watanabe R type wheels, silver centre with polished lip. They were bought new from Otomoto and the tyres have travelled less than 2000kms on public roads (no track days). Please note that the 16x8.5's have been modified. Tyres are 4 x 205/55/16 Pirelli P7. Wheel nuts not included. Centre caps not included (I never bought them). This wheel + tyre combo will not scrub on stock 260z 2 seater unmodified guards, no coilovers. They probably won't on 240z or 260z 2+2 either but I can't be sure. Front wheels: 16x8 zero offset, no mods, both in excellent condition no gutter rash. Rear wheels: 16x8.5 +1 offset. These wheels were originally -6 offset but I had them modified to avoid the need to cut/lip my rear guards. The wheels were machined 7mm off the mounting face and steel inserts were fitted for strength. The work was done professionally by Neales wheels, who said they regularly do this to race cars so there shouldn't be any problems with a street princess like my Zed, and the fact that the watanabe is a quality wheel to start with. I guess you can use spacers if you need/want the -6 again. One of the rear wheels have gutter rash-see below, otherwise no other issues: The other rear wheel has no gutter rash but has marks from the tyre fitting. I did not notice until way down the track. I imagine if you fitted a proper size tyre, it would probably hide it. It's not really noticeable but needed to be mentioned: The next two pics are the modified 16x8.5's: more pics: I think I have covered just about everything but any further queries please PM me and I will post details here if the info would be useful to other prospective buyers.
