  1. Yup I have the cables and will bring them to Harry's. Also for anyone who's interested I have a pair of brand new RDA branded 260z brake rotors that I want to sell. I can bring them with me to the meet if anyone wants them. They're obviously heavy so I am reluctant to ship. IIRC they cost me around $100. I am asking $70. Will write it up in the parts for sale section when I have a minute. cheers, Mike
  2. Sounds good count me in!
  3. Harrys Parramatta sounds good, never been there before but I know Liverpool carpark would be packed on a sunday afternoon with all the homemakers checking out furniture etc
  4. Either of those locations sound good to me. Is everyone ok with the date? I am good for Sundays, just have to cross myself off the work roster with a week's notice. cheers, Mike
  5. I've often been dreaming of another project, any RWD 70's-early 80's Jap car and have been searching 240K, 240/260/280C, early Celica's and Corolla's. Any early AUSDM Skyline such as C110 (240K) and C210 have already skyrocketed in value. R30's are going up as well if you can find one. The 240K I remembered as a boy was so ugly, even as a Datsun fan (my Dad had Datsun/Nissans) even I couldn't love it. How times have changed. Alot of people are on the JDM bandwagon, want a 240K to turn into a GTR and made the 240K coupe more valuable than a S30.
  6. Hi Bryan, mate your Zed is looking good, congrats. Lately we have the 2+2 boys showing some really outstanding cars and maybe changing some perceptions. I put a 4.11 diff in mine when I found 3.5 was no fun with triples and mild cam-breaking speed limits just to hear the sound of the triples and be on cam My 2cents, 4.64 is pretty high for street however might be ok for 255 60 15. Thats going to have a big rolling diameter, might look a bit odd but hey, it's your car. Drag car look? Just a couple of questions for you, what size wheels/tyres are you running on those two pics on you just posted? cheers, Mike
  7. Hi Gav, the bare alloy/polished rim pic are 16x8 front & 8.5 rear with 205/55 front & back. The black ones are now 16x8 all round with 215/50/16. You're spot on with them looking smaller, that was my intention in getting them painted and lower profile tyres. cheers, Mike.
  8. Datsun Day 2011 More recent
  9. A Zed community announcement: Just picked up a couple of 5lt packs of Penrite HPR30 for $27.95 ea today at my local Repco (Rockdale) but I'd imagine it's on special at all Repco's. So thats my 12mths of oil changes for the Zed taken care of. 35% off all Penrite oils this Sat & Sun. cheers, Mike
  10. All I can hear are my triple 45's
  11. I did get Ron to restore mine and it's in the car. After fitting it to the car, it ran fast for about half a day and then kept good time. It's fluctuating now because my battery is 7 years old and I basically charge it the day before I plan to drive it, just too busy to get a new one. (Hence flat battery at Rudi's wedding) Whether the Niles clock is any good didn't matter to me because my Zed, being a late model needed this particular model to match the numbers font with the rest of my gauges. Here's a pic of my clock after the resto, love it:
  12. That faceplate is for the am radio casette like the one pictured below: The am/fm radio's have the clear tuner display thingys on the faceplate like below: cheers, Mike.
  13. If I had my time again I would have gone for the OER's. I bought brand new spanish 45dcoe Webers and mine leak, the castings are rough-no wonder people pay overs for the old italian ones. I have noticed that on Otomoto's website, for OER's they list a solex jet type as well as a weber jet type. I chose weber carbs as it would be easier to get jets/chokes etc, but if you can get OER's that takes weber jets then that makes it a moot point. Saving my pennies now for ITB's maybe. cheers, Mike.
  14. Welcome Matt, hope you find a Zed soon. I knew a Matthew with a RX5, your surname doesn't start with a "D" does it? cheers, Mike.
  15. Had a spare couple of hours yesterday and watched "The Mechanic" with good ole Chucky Bronson (1972). Tried to spot a 240z but couldn't find one.
  16. Looks like your car does have the 260z 55mm struts. From what I know spring diameters are the same considering my 260z was incorrectly fitted with the 240z springs by the previous owner, which made it hectic low.
  17. Nice bike! The pics of the lock knob and door latch shows your '76 JDM fairlady is same as a 240z/early 260z. I can't remember the strut diameters but the late 260z's are thicker. Perhaps someone else can chime in and provide the dimensions. Many people have tried the late 260z low king springs in an early 260z or 240z and found that it actually raised the car! The opposite happened to me, the previous owner put the 240z or early 260z king springs in my late 260z and it was extra low. cheers, Mike
  18. I am just about to go out to work. Went to program the recorder for F1 Malaysia and see ONE & TEN is not showing it live or even delayed tonight but 9.30pm tomorrow? Has my electronic guide got it wrong?
  19. Hey PJ, Judging from the pics of your interior and gauges I suspect your zed is the equivalent of an "early" 260z. Other things that can visually differentiate are the door lock knob position and door latches. I only recently refreshed my suspension using the same king springs part #'s you quoted below. I was told the koni reds were NLA (I didn't try hard to check TBH) and for what I do with my car I was advised to save money and skip the koni yellows and got KYB's instead. My zed is a late (12/76) build so I would double check the spring part #'s if I were you. I wanted adjustable Tokico's but the backorder was 6mths at the time. I have a set of 240Z/early 260Z king springs in my shed (KDFL-08, KDRL-09) if you want to try. cheers, Mike
  20. Thats a shame PJ, I was hoping to see you & your Zed. Cheers, Mike.
  21. Nah Pete, you just buy one thats already finished! ;D
  22. My 260Z RS30 015093 is looking for : L26-161996 I currently have L28-422532 under the bonnet. cheers, Mike.
  23. Thank Christ it's not a Zed! Having owned many, and a soft spot for the humble 120Y myself it breaks my heart to see one like this.
  24. Cheers Mick & Dave for the kind words. I think all black for the Wats are an improvement over the raw alloy/silver ones on my zed, because of it (the car)being silver and blending in. I also considered just painting the centres gunmetal but I am happy with all gunmetal(watanabe black). Dave, I think you're on to something. When I have time I might start a picture thread (or someone else can) with pics of zeds, preferably their own or net-sourced pics if they are certain of the wheel/tyre specs to help members make the decision on what size wheel and tyre combo's they like. I have searched for ages, could not find any pics of a S30 with gold SSR Mk3's so this might help others in a similar situation. cheers, Mike.
  25. Polished or solid colour? I must admit, I am becoming a bit of a "wheel-whore". My Zed recently received another "boob-job" 15x7, 205/60/15 SSR Mk3: 16x8, 205/55/16 Wats-"raw" alloy: 16x8 215/50/16 Wats painted gunmetal:
