With the 40 v 45 issue, appreciate the advice, definetely not a side note. My way of thinking was how much "work" the motor had done to it would determine whether you need 40 or 45? The seller from USA says they will fit recommended jets etc according to my application so I guess I will discuss the 40/45 question if I decide to go with them. Anyone else with advice please feel free to chime in cheers, Mike

Hi all, before I look to the USA for a new set up, just checking if anyone here has a set that they wish to part with or if there are any recommendations for places down under or overseas to source brand new. I remember Otomoto used to have a weber sidedraft clone set up but after checking the website seems to be NLA. My Zed is L28 N42 with extractors. It was freshly rebuilt stock just before I bought her and runs well. At most I might change the cam so I presume 40mm is preferable to 45mm? At the moment I have only spoke to Top End Performance USA and they seem ok, stating they have plenty Zed experience. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Mike.

I bought one from an Aussie seller, from memory around $400 for my daily '09 corolla about 2 years ago. It was fitted with the toyota plug so even a dope like me could fit it in 10 mins during my lunchbreak in a westfields car park. GPS, dvd, digital TV, usb, ipod connect, reverse camera, bluetooth. I've got nearly my whole mp3 library in a usb stick. Tv reception is dodgy when car is moving (not that I watch & drive). They say it picks up HDtv but having probs with that. I mainly needed the GPS (for work) and that works great-really fast and lots of settings. Maybe 3 times a year the GPS freezes, just have to reset then all good again. So all in all I'm happy with mine. I haven't had any probs with mine but I can only suggest you pay a little more for an aussie seller in case you have any probs. cheers, Mike.

Welcome, and nice garage you have there. If you didn't already know those cars were sold here as 260c's. I did own one myself years ago in brown with vinyl roof. Great car, ahead of it's time with interesting gadgets like fibre-optic lines to the brake lights so you know if your taillights are out. Real luxury cruiser. BTW, any details of your Zed? Thanks Mickl that would be great. I know your pics will reveal all but just want to ask are you replacing the stock fan with the thermo's? I'm getting concerned that the stock fan will not clear the new alloy rads? I wish to keep my stock fan and shroud. I have thermo's in front of the air con core. Anyways, looking forward to see your pics. My zed is a late 76 2 seater so maybe same as yours. cheers, Mike

Hi Mickl, I too am in the market for one of these. So did your one bolt up pefectly or did you need minor alterations? Do you have a shroud fitted and did it fit ok? I'm not too keen on the look of these rads as I prefer the factory look but the $500 I got quoted for a re-core is a bit unpalatable. cheers, Mike.

I had a similar problem with my left. Right was ok but left was slow and sometimes did not work at all and even worse,sometimes smoke coming from the steering column area! Disassembled the headlight and indicator stalks from the steering column. Unscrewed the cover to expose the contacts and saw it was all caked up with grease and muck. Be careful when doing this as it is spring loaded and might pop out. Cleaned it and added some contact lube, not sure the proper name for it but my mate uses it for his tamiya RC cars and everything ok now. Not sure if this is your problem but have a look. Thanks, the boiling water sounds good. I'm working away from home at the moment so have not tried anything yet, but I have bought the prepsol. Don't have a beltsander but will a STIHL do? Same same.

I don't have a heat gun, wouldn't trust myself with one on a paint job anyway. But a hairdryer would be safe I assume. cheers, Mike
