  1. Pardon me but is that the pic of the dash going in your 240z?
  2. there should have been a manual with the hi-6 that has about 20 different set ups for different models and very easy to read instructions, do you have it? i still have mine .
  3. if you drive a road car tell me what is the great benefit of running huge tyres , i tell you there isnt any you go backwards big time . may look tough but the handling characteristics are compromised so why bother
  4. You replied in your first quote that the wheels did scrub on the fenders when going down the driveway and reversing out of your garage imagine what they do on the track???
  5. I found slotting the rotors made a huge difference on my zed . the rotors have been on the car for yonks and only starting to look like they might need grinding, just gave the brakes more pedal feel and bite
  6. not all 240z are the same differs to the year , they are not all clear , or amber at that some have both park and indicator separated in the same housing which is much better depends on the year and to the month of build date, but then it dosnt matter as long as they are the same

  10. the fuel line on my zed is larger than that breather ,what is the benefit of it all ? if you go to that trouble what is wrong with the standard breather, you have pics of a RB30 with a vaccuum hose size pipe protruding out of the valve cover , bit of revision required there i think!!!!!!!!
  11. no worries anymore, sounds like a very lovely chappy, inflicting bodily harm is a straight to the big house in this day, sounds like an ordeal your relieved is nearly over
  12. i measured the area across the trumpet and went on the search for some,,,, would you believe it ,, tea strainers , cut the handles off and mounted them between the trumpet and the carby body you wouldnt know they were there, tho it did make the motor run a bit richer, and so took them out, havnt ran anything as far as a filter for 15 years , problem with socks is they can catch fire when the carbs spit back, i used to smear a film of grease on the inside of the trumpet worked well , air box is the way too go
  13. why didnt you get Lou Mondello to fix it??????????????????????
  14. Ok ill do , here goes, firstly , to get the best results the engine should be hot, whilst the engine running listen to the valve train and general running noises from the engine, is the cam train noisy or quiet, if its noisy then you would expect to find the valve clearances loose, if quiet then they would be expected to find tight, listen to the exhaust pipe for a constant burble you know like BBBBBBBB or if its sounds BBBBURBBBBURBBBURB it could be a tight valve or a valve that maybe isnt seating properly, this is crazy , this is gonna take ages back shortly., Im back , remove spark leads and spark plugs keeping plugs in order of each cylinder, examine plugs for condition , remove rocker cover by firstly cracking each stud starting from the middle and working outward in a spiral give the cover a wack sideways with a soft mallet and proceed to undo and remove studs lift off cover and inspect valve train , now this is where things get really tricky , this is gonna take ages ,lurch is right cant print all this just too much to cover, a lot of expertise required here, there isnt any point adjusting the clearances untill the condition of the valve train is determined ,you could end up going backwards and god knows who was in there before you got there, maybe leave it to someone that knows what they are doing, un less someone else wants to carry on from here ,too much to cover
  15. is highly likely stevo the valve seats need replacing , you wouldnt think after all these years there would be any adjustment left to use

  18. whats so spectacular about them, thats a total mess of a set up, what was all that junk that sat on top between the 2 carbs couldnt figure what it was

    Valve clearances

just a bit of silly dry humour
  20. i had a box of 30 tridon thermostats all brand new and all had been fitted to vehicles and were all found to be faulty, and all had 3 year warranty labelled on the packaging, on a call to the distributor in sydney, they refused to commit to the warranty and that i would have to send the thermostats to them for testing in which that they wouldnt find anything wrong them and it would be a problem somewhere else in the cooling system and would be a waste of everyones time, i have fitted some since without problem, but boiled them in water prior to fitting to the vehicle to ensure they open, the wax pallet inside goes very hard during shelving and takes a lot higher tempature to initially melt the pallet and open the valve, so if you dont heat it up firstly you boil the motor , even when this is done i have found these thermostats not operate at the tempature stamped on the bottom of the pallet, either to hot or too cold
  21. throw a bucket out the window at a 100 k and see what happens , do you think it would instantly fall to the ground???

    Valve clearances

im sure that someone who understands this will reply , i can only recomend setting the valve clearances when the engine is cold , maybe this will make a warmer to cooler camshaft, tho it may not operate as well in the winter, so maybe having a hotter camshaft in winter and using a colder camshaft in summer may help, not sure maybe im wrong but thats what my mechanic told me, hope this helps?
  23. Those ld28 cranks weigh heaps in diesel form what did they rev too 4000 rpm or so ,,then throw one in a petrol block and double its revs, thats a lot of weight being flung around in the bottom end, and the talk is wack one in and thats all . my advice before you go ahead, check the trousers your wearing and make sure they have very deep pockets
  24. why overfill the oil
