    RB30 help?

it sounds as if the injectors are not being earthed if you have constant power to the injectors, the ecu earths the injector , sound like a earth wire not connected, check all ground wires , if you put your test light on the ground side of the injector harness and the other end to positive battery crank the motor see if the light comes on if it does then you have a circiut if the injectors have been sitting a long time the fuel goes gummy and jammes up the injector, sometimes you can give each injector a sharp tap with something solid whilst another person cranks the motor,

  7. just purchased a fantastic new book on zeds from wheels of time in dandenong, i wasnt looking for it at the time , looking for 2 stroke performance books, if your looking for great books they have heeps , this one is of the association of the great paul newman and bob sharp racing also covers the people responsible for datsun sport nissan racing of the period, highly recomend this book shop for info
  8. hey everyone ,, in good gesture on the 18 jan 09 msca sprint at sandown park raceway, lets go , whos in it? its not a race, simply a sprint event, has anyone been informed from gerhard of the ndsoc of this event? im going too clean out the cobwebs, come on lets go !!!!! all you need is a LS2 licsense a fire extinguisher see matty freeman for that , an go , its not racing, for those that havnt been to a sprint event you also get driving training education too , craig and gordon may also be there in their awesome zeds and skyline , no more jerkin the girkin on show an shines do it , by the way where is gerhard does anyone know , and do you all think that it is time for a total revamp of the structure of the ndsoc , 2009 lets go simon what do you think, im with you buddy, or is everyone to be a pussy?
  9. dont understand how did you remove the box without removing the lower half of the sandwich plate?
  10. exposure the club could probably do with but dosnt need if you know what i mean, i dont think it will have any effect on the club people are aware that its individuals not the club , amazing how quickly the media arrived at the scene to blow the whole thing up , brumby says the older should be setting an example but if media wasnt involved no one would know would they government has gone about it the wrong way
  11. put some synthetic 2 stroke oil in tank and drive a while gets in the whole system synthetic cause it wont blow smoke , oil will stop any rubber components drying out and stops that white powder when fuel drys up and lubes valves and guides etc, and stick a rag in exhaust an in air cleaner stop moisture getting in , no point starting it every now and then unless your going to drive it just leave it sit , or turn the engine over with the coil lead out is better than starting for short periods, put block under suspension or the tyres will end up square
  12. forget bill thompson the kits dont fit properly and dont get everything been down that road and when i rang them they treated me like im an idiot, no help whatsover too expensive too
  13. i have a ecu i use for testing if you would like to borrow it , i assume the car is manual, broken tracks in the pcb is becoming common with the age, injection timing is also processed through the distributor as well and most failures are from dirty connections in the wiring harness connector at the distributor, cheers dazzed, let me know if you need the ecu.
  14. i think that an appropriate amount of ethanol is ok, manufactures specify that if anymore than 10% ethanol is used in fuel they will void the owners warranty, im positive that there is a very high level of ethanol in the fuel currently, dont think for one second our fuel companies will tell you everything thats going on , the fuel pump on my mercedes died recently, bosch high pressure unit type thing, so i fitted a new one and of course changed the fuel filter at the same time ,even tho i only changed the filter a year ago, and have only travelled a mere 7000 km , these type of filters are huge probably hold half litre of fuel or so , so i cut the old one open and it was absolutely chockas with ethanol, which was the course of the fuel pump failure , i have only used mobil 6000 as car goes better on 6000 than 8000. toyota spcecifies 80,000km in the hand book for fuel filter change, then its out of warranty coincidence or what
  15. does anyone know what ethanol does to fuel? in aprox 1998 lead in fuel was slowly reduced in australia, to become unleaded , that was a bit of a hurdle for some motorist that found out the hard way, now we are being introduced to a unleaded ethanol fuel if you like or not its here ,so the process of fuel is changing the type of fuel we use in our cars, so if i use pump gas which is unleaded, and has ethanol in it and i constantly use it in my 240z L28 what are the procedures i need to take to ensure that it runs well on this type of modern fuel ? even in modern engines what effect does it have on vehicles in the long run? i would be interested to know what experiences people have had with our current fuel situation. cheers dazzed.
  16. aah thats it thanks dave
  17. if i recall about 8 years ago a z register was set up dont hold me to this but i was imformed approx 5 years ago ther was 195 240zeds registered in oz, now that dosnt sound a lot but if you lined them all up it would look a lot , now that is registered vehicles on state roads so im sure that there is plenty more unregistered out there , so compare that to a rx/3 mazda coupe the numbers would be lower, hense the higher price , the lower the population of cars per capita the higher the demand is , 2+2 s are favorable for the flow on body style of the 240z and currently easily obtainable, certainly a more comfortable car to drive on long distances due to more modern refinements than the 240, i think a lot of people associate datsun as cheap , people are confronted with a 240z for sale with a 25k price tag and crap their pants, ussually cant afford that sort of money and go and look further, they then end up purchasing a 6k priced car and over a period of time throw massive amount of cash at it , then look back and frown as they should have purchased the 25k car which they now realise was cheap compared to what they spent now, everything goes up , so to restore a car this year will cost more than last year, tho the prices of the cars dont seem to follow the suit
  18. ***TOPIC SPLIT FROM ANOTHER THREAD *** then the value of early 2 seater zeds currently should be soaring through the roof , replacement values for accident and totall write offs should increase , at one stage shannons wouldnt cover a 240z as a total loss for anymore than 25k , i know of one that recently went to the UK and shannons wouldnt cover it for any more than 90k if it fell in the drink, so the consensus is that early zeds arnt driven on a daily basis due to accident replacement and total replacement values , ,, catch 22 maybe everyone who have there zeds insured should review there cover annually accordingly i get the distinct census that all zeds are under insured maybe if the cover matched the car people would be more confident about driving them daily, ii have allways said that every dollar spent on a 2 seater spent properly increases the value by that , unique cars magazine has listed a S30 in category A condition at 15K for the last 12 years , maybe these figures are given to them by insurance company as the general replacement value cover, even tho its bollocks lets see some figures of what owners have spent on their cars, i know i must have spent 80k or so its something not many people talk about allways talk about what they have done to their car but shy from costs ,lets get some idea c,mon
  19. welcome aboard fluffy dice, its great you intend to drive a zed on a daily basis, i am fully restoring a 240z to do exactely that, and why not that what a car is for , i know plenty of owners that do , its your car and have the freedom to do as you please with it , if your occupation is a taxi driver and you teach karate part time zedman 240z is in big trouble

    My New-old L28

hi chris, the L28 from the 280zx is a great set up for many reasons , for a start early zeds were designed to accomodate this set up , fire wall has dimple guide marks for wiring loom to be fitted , fuel pump fixures are already there and very easy to set up parts are readilly available, and they go well, either in auto or manual form. the 280zx is a lot heavier, tho there are a few variations in engine camshafts fitted and throttle body types they are bassically the same, dont forget the car are pretty old now and the type of system this is will only work well with a good motor, air flow meters loose there callibrations and sensors are starting to fail, harness connectors in most cases on the loom will need replacing but dont worry as replacement parts are in abundance , A L28 EFI set up with a A grind cam and a lightened flywheel and all components in good working order makes for a economical, fun steetable and not to mention if set up neatly can be made to look like it came out of the factory that way and it did, the 280z was in usa. the set up is simple and if you get it all set up and its not running right it will be easy and cheap to rectify and reliable, early zeds are desirable to people because of the simplicity of there lay out, and i see it over and over all the time conversions that are so messy and complicated noone can work on and nobody wants to know about they just shrug their shoulders and palm it of to someone else if you dont want to have your head stuck under the bonnet broken down all the time pulling wires testing this cutting open wiring looms , i would go for this set up, i hope this helps you decide which way you intend to go, cheers dazzed.
  21. how did you get your car there????????
  22. also greatly depends on the condition of the motor, eg, a high or higher compression engine that over standard may require a colder range plug, whereas a low comp or tired motor will require a hotter range plug, compression plays a major role here, i just fitted fives to a triple webered powered l28 as it matched the characteristics of the motor better than sixes
  23. blue interior is very unsuall , it appears the rust is only surface and has settled on top of everything not underneath , whats the hesitation for about purchasing it , looks fantastic to me , remember the less rust the lower the resto cost the fact is its a genuine unmolested car 5k is not an unresonable price to pay, so if you have to think about it maybe you cant afford it in the fist place, just go for it you cant loose
  24. AOMC for those that are unsure of the AOMC , who knows? please explain,im lost, whoo??? *fixed broken quote.
