  2. been there just ask john , shed full of cars , dont get ya hopes up , as a local land survalience engineer nothings cheep is it john , he just likes too stir the pot up and wind you up ,,, unless the councill put the hard word on him but i doubt that
  3. I think a few people jumped in a bit quick on this one when they responded, if you have a close look at the fracture in the fork arm bracket you will notice that this is a manufactures design , so purchasing a new bracket may have the same weakness built into it , i would feel a lot more confident having it welded knowing that its strucerly stronger than the stock unit than purchasing a new one only to have the same happen again, judging by the pics you sent , penetration from a good welder im sure would determine strengh in the refabrication,, are you in melbourne ?
  4. Hi, Steve, hey off the topic a bit ,,,, maybe what your Doc means is that by using bp5es plugs which are hotter , the spark plug will run cleaner and make it easier to read for tuning purposes then once tuned fit the Bp6ES plugs , i know in 2 stroke racing engines opening the spark gap up makes the plug run colder, ,,,,cheers Dan,,
  5. Dimetris on it ,, i had a similar problem replaced all the globes , several stop globes were shoting out on the filiment sending power back up the loom , ive had a lot of problems with cheap globes blowing and shorting out , insist on phillips and replace them all
  6. aaahh not a bad score then , i dont think the cv shaft from a suby would hold up in a zed very long
  7. What is a suretrack lsd ,clutch or viscouse?

    280zx Camshaft

are you sure thats exactely what waggott said , it dosnt sound correct, someone has their wires crossed, what car is this for ? what motor ? any modifications? street ? track? rally? what are your intentions depends on camshaft
  12. how many of you guys had screens fitted and then problems ? you know that 20 years ago a screen cost like $380.00 fitted now these dicks pump em out at like $180.00 if you have rust around the sills , dosnt matter pump it with sikaflex wack a screen in give me ya $180.00 and piss off ,, then the rust breakes out even further and quicker and more rapidly than you can squint your zed is leaking water and rusting thanks to the bright spark that fitted your screen , you need to examine the vehicle yourself or have a fabricator inspect the vehicle before the new screen goes in ,, the windscreen fitter is by no means qualified to to advise you he is only fitting your screen , thats all and dosnt want to get involved with delays that will stop the screen being fitted and him not being paid watch out theres a lot of dodgy windscreen fitters out there
  13. generally speaking the zed electrics are very reliable just like toyotas, but where getting a bit old in the tooth now , and most people have powerfull headlamps , high power stereo, electronic ignition, and if you still have points well just trying to fire the unleaded fuel requires a bigger demand from the ignition system, on my 240 i deleted the amp gauge and fitted a bosch or bocsh, 80 amp alternator with built in reg and a 260z volt gauge with a light in it , piss of the amp gauge its a fuse drags pwr just to pass current through it thats how it gauges the amps draw and on top of that you have this pissy 35 amp alternator that wouldnt pull a greasy stick outa dogs arse , dont piss fart around spending megga bucks on your retifyer , when you should be rectifying the problem,
  14. if there are ever any charging issues in a early zed never rebuild ,, upgrade ,,, alternator output is way to low waste of money playing with the 40 amp alternator , do you have a charge light in your volt gauge if so does it glow when the ignition is on, if not put a new globe ,,the globe circuit is part of the charging system if it is blown alternator will not charge , very rare for regulators to pack up , battery should be fully charged , an alternator will not charge the battery fully , unlike a generator generates its own current alternator wont , how old is the battery??? keep it simple
  15. mmmm roof cavities , cob webs and many unfriendly pests, sounds like fun good pay?
  16. they dont just fall out , sorry ok its normal yeah tailshafts just break an fall out like that , absolutely no sign or evidence of this happening prior, what you coudnt tell didnt notice anything abnormal prior, please let us know who your mechanic is we need more like that im sure , just see myself following a zed down the road and the tailshaft falls out and plummets through my windscreen and takes out my paasenger and all i can say to the coroner is thats normal its a datsun zed , why havnt you encountered this before or cripes mate where you been
  17. for what reason were you bleeding the brakes in the first place? was there a problem ? maybe all you did was expose the initial problem by bleeding the brakes ,go back to your basics
  18. ill have a look, just looking at your wheels again , yeah geez theyre huge , i can see how you will have to make it all fully adjustable , be like a train on rails once you have done all that , looks tuff , thanks Dazzed.
  19. when you say that you had finished cutting the rear quarters , is this a procedure for fitting the flares , to accommodate the larger wheels? i had the idea they fitted over the top , is this a big job to fit these flares, do you have to cut the front also? cheers Dazzed

    need a new exhaust

zedman is right on the money , 2.5 inch will reduce touque, they may use a 2.5 on a 4 banger, but in most cases the car is shorter , i dont know what it is with 2.5 inch exhaust on a 2.4 but a no no . even a 2inch on a l28 in a 240 is ok , ehxaust specialists or so they say live in a world of their own
