  1. pauly ,, dont waste ya money buddy, mate these ave done over 300k the ring lands will be worn ta buggery new pistons , and a quality set of rings will see it do more than 400k with modern technology and serviced regulary. we are talking about 35 year old components back the C.N.C wasnt heard of ,,, just buy new ones !! ,even cheap pistons these days are better than the genuine ones back then ,, hey dont forget this is 2008 not 1968. regards dazzad
  2. theres a 260z 2+2 on ebay auction finishes in 21 hrs starting at 10k and looks worth every cent, it like new, carbs are a problem if original may have to change . dazzed
  3. hi robster, forget the rb20 motor even in turbo form , they are just to small in engine capacity, sr20det is becoming a popular flavour for a conversion but can get pricey, for a everyday driver you have 2 choices by a vehicle in need of restoration or buy a restored vehicle either way your gonna end up spending 20k plus, there has been quite a few top condition fully restored 240zeds in n.s.w of recent around 16k if you buy a restored 240z you would expect to see a photo album of the progress standard of work ,, buying a un restored car requires a thourough investigation from front to rear , floors sills firewall spare wheel well rear hatch bezel , then interior , unless you want a customized car it would be more viable to by a recent restoration and do a few performance mods to the original running gear,. cheers dazzed
  4. thanks for that reverendzeder
  5. hey gonzo , the closest ive got to in the factory blue is a vht competition ford blue , taking note that 240z blue has faded over time the ford blue is really close, and the colour on the can lid is not a good indication of what is in the can, i have just painted a engine you can check the colour of it to see if you like it, cheers dazzed.
  6. absolutely right on mr b
  7. hi rev , dont go to all the trouble of shipping a L28 from sydney not worth it , chances are its due for rebuild anyway, you already have motors use them, just bore out your L26 to 2.8 dont worry about sonic testing just do it your only boring it out 1.5mm from 83 to 86mm just throw some dished 280z pistons at it and use the E88 head just put new inlet valve seats in it , change your diff over from the manual car, an automatic diff is 3.54 and a 260z 1st gear is quite tall already at 2.09 if you leave the 3.54 diff in it the clutch will suffer and sluggish take off mind you it will prbably pull 90kmh in first, no fun!! use the manual 3.07 diff and a early 260z camshaft , will produce excellent torque and economy not to mention reliability , cheers daniel.
  8. ill vouch for vinneys in dandenong ive used them many times ,turn around time is a bit slow but the quality of the workmanship is a1 . all the chroming done is all triple layer, or c.n.c copper nickel and chrome , demand for these metals has skyrocketed driving the cost of chrome plating bumpers up around $100.00 a bar
  9. hi rev , it seems your up to your ears in conversions, and having a lot of fun as well , im sure i have one of those float bowls, im not sure if its the front or rear tho so give me a buzz when i get back to work on or after the 7th of jan, cheers, daniel.
