  5. hey 260coupe , i remember that car 2 tone green lime colour i remember the owner your right it was a option but for some reason that car died a very horrible rusty death, in fact i think that was the only zed ive seen with a vinyl roof ,, early seventies saw a lot of cream vinyl roofs fitted to 180b sss coupes and many sedans just never was a favorite flavour on a zed
  6. the gas can dosnt set like concrete, the tyre fitter is to be informed of the sealant being used becauase the tyre is filled with a flammable gas from the aerosole pak, a typical method of repairing a tubeless tyre is to drill the hole and fit a plug, a special tapered drill bit is used on a high speed die grinder , when the drill hits the wire plys it creates a spark an kaboom its all over , the sealing sollution stays soft goes harder when exposed to air clogging the hole,,,
  7. pressure can might work, puncture repair kit might but what if it dont , what if a rim is damaged and the tyre is ok but flat come off the bead, bit of an uneasy feeling driving without a spare, could be quite embarassing stuck out in the middle of nowhere without a spare, dont you have room in the back to mount a spare i know it might sacrifise space 2+2 have more room than 2 seaters dont they? with low profile tyres they ussally become damaged in the sidewalll due to under inflation overheated then they shred inside,, a low profile tyre can look inflated but can actually be dead flat , oh sorry in answer to your question , absolutely

    want a 240z

one way or another your going to have to spend 10k and above , who wants to drive around in a rusty unroad worthy zed that has automatic lightening features (ALF) . 240zeds are being bought up by the older generation more than ever now reliving their youthful days and have the time to tinker with them and more money than they had in their youth more than anything they now realise what they either trashed or sold for a song n dance hesitating is a catch 22 situation,
  9. I went to Lindsay a couple of times to get work done on my Z, generally he was ok to speak to and he did help with a couple of small items. My experience though was that he charged me alot more for parts than say Zworks (Zfactory). I was quoted $400 for a 260z 2+2 1/4 rear panel. Zworks at the time was offering me one for $120. Sure supply and demand and I accept that. My gripe was with the little things, like the alternator he personally sold to me which as my auto electrician put it, was just polished on the outside and not reconditioned. Yet he sold it to me for $130 + as a reco unit. Being the broke student I was at the time, trying to fix up an old Z and not making much more than $200 per week, you can see why I might be a little ticked off. It didn't stop my passion for Zeds and if you ask me this forum has done far more for Z owners in Australia than any Zshop has, plus I don't charge anyone for anything. I ask for donations but that's besides the point. As a final gripe about Lindsay and his so called wonderfulness. I happened to have met one of his apprentices Costa Kiskiras, you may or may not know him. All I can say is he's a slippery snake and can't be trusted. Obviously I can't blame Lindsay for his actions, but it doesn't say much for Zshop. So if you can show me how great Lindsay is, I'll apologise and retract my comments, but until then I've not had any reason to promote his business. I would also like to say that this is just my experience and I encourage others to share their opinions and experiences. After all if I'm wrong surely others will speak up. thats no good maybe i should retract my comment gav, it started something i think im gonna regret, ,
  10. no need to be sorry lurch everyone has an opinion ill never make a good story writer, im fired
  11. wow!! havnt some people got to express some opinions on what is going on with lindsay from the Z shop, isnt it amazing that the forum vic Z car club is only stating negative aspects to the situation, so i wou;d like to take this time to shed some bright lights on the positive aspects that lindsay from the Z shop has contributed to the zed car school, fortunately i met lindsay in 1983, he had zeds then and a ho falcon, detamaso panterra, SLR5000, and other numerouse vehicles, oh porsheres too . lindsays common attitude to life is in order to be succesfull you need to first make someone else succesfull and he did and does, theres also another common factor that goes with doing this and that is you end up giving a hell of a lot more than you get..... full stop there.... now there was only 2000 240z datsun sports cars delivered through the australian datsun dealers fom 1969 to late 1973 which makes this vehicle very rare so im sure at one stage most readers would have had some dealings with lindsay at the either z, spares or the zed shop, i know i have and he has always helped me with my zed even when he has been under a lot of pressure. lindsay knows how to build a top motor and you all know that, now that demand has become so strong for his services he personally cant meet the demand, and relys on the people that he educates to do so, and if there not prepared to learn then a breed of 240z specialised personall become a very rare service uncommon in the average automotive repair field, so think once think twice, lindsay where are you? i need some parts , when are you going to open the shop?
  12. stick em on the railway line
  13. why are you fitting jaguar carbs to a datsun, do you feel sorry for them being abbandoned, thus giving them a better home to reside in such as a datto, advice ,,, put them on the railway line more fun.
  14. put all the carbs and emmision gear back on as requested take a exhaust gas emmision reading then take it to get the rwc see what they do then , you tell me how would they know if a part wasnt functioning correctly, some times i wonder if you know what your talking about why act dum?
  15. more replies to forum the more information there is to read the more interesting the forum is, not that its not already informative enough, dont you think?, ive been working on zeds full time for a long time now and i dont mind sharing my knowledge as it is when it comes to zeds things arnt always what they seem, hope that is informative enough response for you lurch, catch me , dazzed.
  16. do you mean rear wheel bearings? if so thats ok price , front are common type a an b bearings , if rears cant you just clean and repack with a quality grease thats what i do , never had a problem , in fact ive never seen a rear wheel bearing on a zed crap itself to the point where it has to be replaced, dazzed.
  17. e30 head too small in combustion camber and intake ports only 30.0 mm motor will ping its nuts off and choke itself to death trying suck air through a pin hole only designed for L24E with dished pistons E31 ok tho nothing wrong with an E88 head either , why do you ask this question in the first place, please reply cheers dazzed
  18. 96 octane is fine to use in a stock 240z , but dont forget all pump fuels are unleaded, dont kid yourself with octane boosters cause more damage to an engine than most people could possibly imagine , the same with high levels of ethanol tho dont get me wrong ethanol is good , just have to change your fuel filter more often than without ethanol, stock 240z have bronze alloy valve seats and dont seal properley even on leaded fuel so unleaded will only make things worse, valve seat pocketing is horendouse on 240z, only one solution peel the head off and fit quality valve seats only then will you be able to tune the engine to perfection on modern fuels dazzed.

    Bonnet

    i have a perfect genuine fluted bonnet , off a 260z
  21. cant just screw them in , headlight will draw too much current through the switch and restrict current flow, wont make any difference to brighteness of lights , in fact will create more electrical problems than you started out with , need to isolate headlamp current draw through twin relays and draw current from higher output alternator, stock is insufficient to supply power to 100 watt h4 beams unless bulbs have sufficient voltage bulbs will continuously fail prematurely
  22. hi al why is your preference for late model mikunis, im interested to know,???

  25. hey muecheo, sorry for the speling , just in case no one has informed you ,,, u have an alloy head not on your shoulders on the engine of your 260z, these av crap valve seats , leaded fuel kept them going ok for a whil, unleaded no, no .no , best thing to do is peel the head of an put some modern valve seats in it then you can tune the engine in the mean time dont give your hard earnt money to someone that says they can tune it . regards daniel
