You could shorten the shaft and have the splines lengthened at one end then refit the cv joint then they will work. The z31 turbo and r31 cv shafts with the 4 bolts at the hub end are shorter and do work (however most flip the cv cage to shorten by a little, we made a new custom axle for the short side then use the standard shorter axle on the long side. You do have to strip the axles completely to do this but you want to rebuild the cv anyway they will be 30 years old and all)
-
Too long for use in a 240z/260z good for a z31 mind.
-
I know here in NZ I got mine from Nissan so you can try them locally too.
-
Not dragged too far off still talking about what options there are. Now having said that I personally have taken your advice Lurch and tonight secured 2 x FJ20 turbo boxes. One for use in the car with a l6 bellhousing the other to be rebuilt with a kameari 71c gearset and L6 bellhousing for later on.
-
He will still make them today?
-
Now that is the shift pattern I would love to have on the track car - shame no one makes a gearset, selectors ie a conversion kit to make a 71B into an option type box.
-
I see kameari also offer selector rings for their 71b gearset. They state for a smoother less friction shifting. So do people use the 71b kameari sets or the 71c with double cone sycro inside their 71b casings?
-
Watching and also wanting to know how what people are doing in the 71b space. With regards to gearboxes we are in the same boat here in NZ. So I read that I must use a 71b casing. But other mods are permitted within the period housings.

Complete 240Z OEM Headlight Cover Set F/S
NZeder replied to acf321's topic in Parts and Tools for Sale
You know i might have to purchase them back but shipping back to NZ without MK63's does not seem worth it -
That sensor on the front is an ABS sensor and the car it might have come from is mid to late 90's Nissan Cima as those are where I have found diffs lie that before.
-
that is very ture, and valid points both of you Peter and Jason. Rebuilds/recreations ie 1 original car turns into 3 or 4 recreations after damage etc. Yes I know a panelshop here in Auckland that makes replica/recreations and Alan's craftsmanship is amazing. The one on ebay I believe is someone elses work here in NZ. There are a few making 250GTO replicas here in NZ all custom hand built alloy bodies. Here is some pics of one made here in Auckland but not the ones made by Alan Bowden that I was thinking of. Alan made 2 x 250gto and 1 x swb sometime ago all for os customers. See http://www.classiccar.co.nz/articles/1962-kiwiana-rampante/attachment/ferrari-250-gto-26
-
What has always amazed me about the 250gto is that all have survived after all this time and all that track work they have done they are still with us today. That to me shows just how beautiful the engineering that went into these 36 cars was.

Awesome as always David. Love your work.

John, I have a set of the NZ new 260z fender mirrors off my 73/74 NZ new 260z (manufactured 73 and shipped to NZ in 73 as it was sold in very very early Jan 74 much like your car if I recall - we had a number of early 260z 2 seaters here in NZ, a guy Tim around the corner from me has RS30-000013 and RS30-000014, I have RS30-000119 all are green) and my 76 manufacture (ex Palmer car if you recall) had its original mirrors damaged in a bay park rollover - these were replaced with electric bluebird items which were almost identical but electric with just a minor shape difference. The 260z fender mirrors are like golf club woods in shape aka XA/XB/XC falcon type shape but fender mirrors not door mirrors. I have a factory urethane front clip too but not the original panels like your car has/had (both my 260z have had accidents in the front over there 40 (or almost 40) years of service so the front panels have been replaced) I have only ever seen these panels on NZ/UK new cars not the JDM, AU, USA imports. And if guys think the 240z fender mirrors in the original black are $$$ they should try and find 260z fender mirrors they are even rarer find and therefore usually more $$
-
The NZ market was kind of special we got the JDM fender mirrors and the Urethane front spoiled fitted (some call it the UK front spoiler as that is how most relate to it) and also the rear spoiler was also common on the NZ new cars. NZ cars were "General RHD Export" which is not Australian Spec or Europe Spec it was basically for the others RHD markets ie Asia and Oceania. It was a mix of Europe Spec, UK and AU spec with a bit of JDM through into the mix also.

As pointed out that pass button just goes to ground. The other end is connected to a pass relay that is usually on the drivers kick panel area. I have seen a car with the switch but missing the relay and just a jumper plug to get the lights working again. I have also seen the very little wire that connects to the button burnt out. The guage of the wire is very very small 22ga or less.
-
The other thing the wiper relay does is gives them power when the washer is in action.

Taking of tyres and pressures you guys in oz that run in category/groups SC what size tyres are you permitted to run? What pressures those running Toyo R888 are you using?

FHR (HANS) Devices becoming mandatory for CAMs events now....
NZeder replied to PZG302's topic in Racing Your Car
Given I am not in oz and I have to follow MSNZ and their rules as Jason has pointed out they do appear to be a little flexible with regards to a number of things. FHR must conform to a recognize standard and those standards are the FIA one or SFI 38.1 they also allow a number of helmet standards. We can build cages that tie into the front struts via the firewall (a good thing on the s30 as those struts are fair way forward and flex a bit. Given these mods were carried out by cage builders in the USA in the day we are good to do it today). We can build free form cages to alternate engineering specs outside what they have in their book but the engineering is such that you have to build a V8 supercar type cage. Having said that you can still have your cage built/puchased to the fia approval process and even if that is lesser than MSNZ requirements that does not matter if the fia sign off on it they accept it. So we have a bit more flexibility here in NZ but with much smaller population and therefore pool of motorsport members/competitors then I guess they might have to be or numbers could be much smaller and less financial. These factors might be why we are lucky and have more flexibility. -
Gav L26 blocks are P30 also but the are different to a L24 P30 with valve notches at the top of the bore. I believe you will find the P30 is a L26/L28 crank. The part number for these is 12200-P3000. Also the 330 260c/280c crank part number is 12201-P3000-SV but I don't know what is stamped on one.

I recall a story about that car. It was either in a magazine or a late night news story. Anyway the red car is a 2003 registered scratch build Mille Miglia replica/retro of a 1938 Alfa Romeo 8c 2900b spider IIRC
