potter260 Posted April 19, 2014 Author Posted April 19, 2014 Hi Lynton, not sure but I've got a different steering wheel to replace it Mitch Potter Quote
potter260 Posted February 27, 2016 Author Posted February 27, 2016 Well its been a while, I now have a deadline, I want to be driving it in June... hopefully Today I stripped the paint from the stainless trims and polished them up. came up better than I thought. Hopefully put the doors and quarter windows back together tomorrow. Quote
potter260 Posted November 20, 2016 Author Posted November 20, 2016 Long time between updates, been poking along with it. Its getting closer but still a long way to go but I guess Im into the final stages. New hood lining and trim pieces in, started putting doors together, changed from linkage to throttle cable, most wiring has been checked and fixed. So not far from being able to start it , just need to sort fuel lines out and battery and brakes will need to be rebuilt. Front rear windows will be installed this week. Put the rest of the interior back together. Bolt bumpers on. Nearly there!!! George, andyk_79, Ponyo240z and 2 others 5 Quote
potter260 Posted December 4, 2016 Author Posted December 4, 2016 Got a few things ticked off the list in last 2 weeks, dash is in, hopefully the last time. Front and rear glass has been installed and starting to look more like a completed car! So I was able to give her a first wash! Today I went through and tig welded up all the screw holes the previous owner thought was a good idea! Not sure if it was a stereo install but why did he need so many screws!! Painted the floor just to tidy it up a bit even though most of it will be covered, couldn't bring myself to paint the toolbox lids felt like I needed to leave something original. potter260 Posted March 12, 2017 Author Posted March 12, 2017 Hi all, been busy of late and thought I would throw a few photos up as it is getting closer to be finished! Engine starts and run, took it for a test drive up the side street (I was a tad excited). Still need to get an air filter and tune carbs, finish putting the doors together, centre console and rear interior plastics, seat belts (bought the rare spares off eBay), radio, carpets, mount rear bumper and a set of tyres for rego. Need a chrome front windscreen corner piece if anyone has one?? Groundhog and scott 2 Quote

potter260 Posted May 14, 2017 Author Posted May 14, 2017 Had a bit of a set back with flood, but engine has been flushed and is running, need to lift it up and change oils and wheel bearings and flush brake lines. Then look into electronics and pull the dash back out and change gauges. Paid someone to detail it, took all day just to do the body coming back later to do carpets and seats. Never looked so good blu260z, gav240z, zed74 and 2 others 5 Quote

peter t Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 Good to see Mitch and also good to see that you haven't given up. We must catch up one day for a cruise. I was going to Bryon Bay last Sunday but had a skin cancer cut out that has got infected and didn't go. Got a week of needles in the rear end to fix that up now. LOL. potter260 1 Quote

potter260 Posted June 25, 2017 Author Posted June 25, 2017 Its been a busy few weeks, We've moved house which means I've now got a Z Shed!! Painted the walls and floor, installed some stainless benchwork. Still need some stainless cupboards and drawers to go under and better lighting. We moved the Z into its new home away from the flood area! Put it up on stands, started stripping out mechanicals and replacing parts. Decided to upgrade brakes and move to MCA coilovers as the oil leaked out of the konis. I've also got some cheap semi slicks for the initial run in/setup stage. Still got a long list to go but I will get there eventually. At least the cars at home now and I can work on it whenever I want to. CBR Jeff, KatoKid, 260DET and 2 others 5 Quote

My parents and the 2+2 are still in the flood area but once the 2 seater is finished I will move it into the shed and start the next 15 yr project Quote
potter260 Posted September 1, 2017 Author Posted September 1, 2017 (edited) So I think I need to spend less time building a work shop and more time building a Z !!! Took about 100hrs and the boss gave me the stainless for $300. Still got a few things to finish off like plumb the sink in, make a broom cupboard at the righthand end and make a cover for where the compressor goes under the bench on the lefthand end. But I'm pretty happy with the way its worked out, makes it a nice spot to enjoy working on the Z and get away from the misses. Edited September 1, 2017 by potter260 gav240z and Ponyo240z 2 Quote
