Moderators Zedman240® Posted February 15, 2008 Moderators Share Posted February 15, 2008 Put me down for two sets! I wish I came across this earlier... Is it true in NSW you have a larger selection and cheaper price for wheels there? Just curious..
Add
Hey Mick74, how long did it take them to reach you after you had made your order/payment? I have emailed rotawheels to see if they can do us a deal, but for under a grand to the door may just go with 18racing.
mick74
Add It took approx 2 weeks from depositing money to receiving goods relatively smooth process. Mick
MR260
Very nice looking wheels, Whats the maximum size you can fit on a standard 260Z and can some one confirm the bulk buy price and can we get in on the deal? Thought i liked the standard 14" old school classic look but now i want the tough look !!!
Add
Hey, Well looks like i need newer tires sooner than I thought. 2 weeks sounds pretty damn good for delivery time. And now for the noob question. I think that 17x7.5's with +4 offset should be fine under stock suspension, would anyone want to confirm that before I lay out a heap of $$$ on something that turns out bad. Add PS: Just dont want to blow good money on bad
Add
Just got an email back from 18racing.com about setting up a group purchase. While they are not willing to drop the price for a set of rims, however they are willing to drop the cost on shipping as the discount. That is if we ship them as one lot. Their reasoning behind this is that they are selling them a cheap as they can. But for my 17x7.5's with a +4 Offset, they quoted me AU$973.35 ($895 US) that is shipped to my door. Scottz
Hi All, Check out this neat tyre/wheel calculator. http://www.rimsntires.com/specs.jsp Saves a lot of time measuring up your car, wheel arches, strut & spring perch, tyres and rims, etc... Also has anyone checked their speedo accuracy. Before and after changing tyres. My speedo reads 110kph when speed is actually 100kph. I used 2 different GPS's and got the same results. The error is 10% across the whole range. Sometimes an increase or decrease in tyre diameter is easier than trying to get the speedo right. Just match the tyre diameter to the speedo (so long as it's just a few percent). Scottz
Moderators Zedman240® Posted September 5, 2010 Moderators Share Posted September 5, 2010 To be that far out, you must have some small and or low profile tyres fitted. Like a 205 50 on a 15" rim is way to low. What size tyre / rim combo do you have?
juz0
Just found this site. It has some examples of wheels and tyre sizes with pictures most are with flares but the most useful pics I saw were of the 15x8 +4. seems to be a popular size but I haven't seen pics of them on a car before... now i have http://www.rimtuck.com/thumbnails.php?vehiclemake=Datsun&sort=1 casho
Roberto
The Rota Shakotan now comes in a 15x9 with -10 offset. Perfect for a 240Z or 260Z with flares at a VERY cheap price. Nice old school look...... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ROTA-WHEEL-SHAKOTAN-15X9-10-4X114-3-73-240Z-SUPRA-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZalgoQ3dLVIQ26ituQ3dUCIQ26otnQ3d1Q26poQ3dLVIQ26psQ3d63Q26clkidQ3d375177417698874611QQ_trksidZp5197Q2em7QQitemZ300563575012
Tj
At the risk of rehashing old questions I'm trying to figure out what size tyres to run on my new wheels. I've done plenty of searching and I've found some spotty info that kinda confirms what I'd worked out for myself and I've even rang a few places but as soon as I say I'm putting 17's on a zed they got all funny but I'd like to confirm without a doubt what size is most appropriate. Anyway, the wheels I have are 17x9 and 17-9.5. They clear everything, this is well established knowledge. and using this calculator I've worked out that something like a 245/40R17 will match the rolling diameter and fit both the 9" and 9.5" rim. But after a bit of reflection and research I figured that the same size tyre on two different width rims might look a little funny plus 245 on fronts sounds a little big. One place I rang suggested 225/45 fronts and 255/40 rears which going by the calculator I linked before has an almost identical sidewall height (so it wont look funny) and an almost identical rolling diameter (obviously, now that I think about it ) but 225 sounds way too narrow for a 9" rim. Anyone else run them? I don't really want to stretch them, but I may need a little for clearance. But if i'm going to stretch fronts, it'll look a bit funny if the rears aren't stretched as well. I'm starting to think staggered wheels weren't the cleverest idea I've had lately. So to summate, who's running (with flares) 17x9 fronts and 17x9.5 rears and what size tyres are you using? 53-681
I have a 2+2 (not sure if it makes a difference) and was wondering how wide you can go without getting fender flares???
Retro Z
So to summate, who's running (with flares) 17x9 fronts and 17x9.5 rears and what size tyres are you using? Im running 255/40 & 275/40 sidewalls are square and flush with flares. My 2 friends are running 235/40 & 255/40 sits about half inch in from flares. All on the same wheels. All on 240z's
Agno
My brother's car runs 255/40/17 on his 9" rim. The sidewalls are square with the rim and also provide good protection for the rim from rash. Unnecessary stretch is a real pet peeve of mine I gotta say, if you can run the big tires without scrubbing do it!

Roberto
Yet another option for wheels for your 240Z or 260Z with flares. They have finally made the rota grid in the right size. Too late for me.... http://www.ebay.com/itm/ROTA-WHEEL-GRID-V-15X9-4X114-3-15-FRSB-COROLLA-AE-86-240Z-CELICA-CRESSIDA-/290762206180?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item43b2c72be4&vxp=mtr
Andrew_L26
Hi all, so I'm about to purchase some new wheels! but before I fully go through with it I want to be 100% sure that they will fit correctly, I've been searching all over and I can't find any examples of someone using this setup on a 260z 2+2 My setup is: 260z 2+2 Stock everything. The wheels I'm thinking about getting are Rota RBR 17x7.5 with a +4 offset The tires that are currently on the wheels (which I hope to use) are 45/235/17 on the back and 40/215/17 for the front. I believe that these wheels should fit without any scrubbing but I want to be sure. Thanks!
dat2kman
They'll fit, no problem, but those tyre sidewall heights will give no sdewall flex, and a harsh ride. Thats the problem with 17's, as many have found out, after spending big $$$, and dont consider what the cars geometry will do when tyres the height of a matchbox are fitted! mr-ace-k
Hi guysLooking at purchasing 15x8 (0) and 15x8.5 (+4) for 1971 240z.I'm pretty sure the fronts at 8.0 will fit but would a 8.5" fit with stock guards and slightly lower (think they are Eibach) springs? Thanks. Edit: Well no one answered and the answer is yes the above specs fit with slight poke in the rear. Planning T3 coils and adjustable arms in coming months see how we go! Stevo_122
To add my two cents to this thread. I have a stock 260 2+2 and recently replaced the suspension with springs which lowered the car by approx 25-30mm. After reading this forum and doing some measurements, I landed on a full set of Rota RB 16 x 7 +4mm offset fitted with Re003 225, 50, R16. Am very pleased with the result. Ride is definitely firmer than the last 265 65 R14's that were installed, but the improved responsiveness is a major improvement. A small chaff on the front rh below bumper area (when turning left) was easily solved by a light touch on the fender to pull outwards. Otherwise clearances all round are healthy. Dionysus
Some new 260z 2+2 measurements.. Front: 16x8 +8 with 205/55 (Sit about 5mm from the spring perch) Rear: 16x8.5 +12 with 225/50 (plenty of room either side)
