TOO60Z Posted April 18, 2018 Posted April 18, 2018 (edited) Eleven tenths turned into twelve. Looked wild around Georgetown but 30 sec penalty. They were legging it to catch the torrie. The Whites Viper is a tyre shredding monster. Edited April 18, 2018 by TOO60Z Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted April 18, 2018 Administrators Posted April 18, 2018 Yeah sad to see, how bad is it? Quote
dat2kman Posted April 18, 2018 Author Posted April 18, 2018 Rollover, on Stage 12, Jon and Gina are fine. He thinks is too damaged under the front. Quote
240z71 Posted April 18, 2018 Posted April 18, 2018 Anyone have a status update on the legacy team boys who crashed out a few years ago at tas?. Havent seen them since. Quote
260DET Posted April 18, 2018 Posted April 18, 2018 Guess that something like this was always lurking for Team 24oz given the performance they get out of that thing, good to hear that they are OK. Quote
74zzz Posted April 19, 2018 Posted April 19, 2018 (edited) yeah I'd be interested to know what happened to Legacy also......When you race a tincan with over 300hp shoved in the front, having an off isn't conducive to being reparable:) i'd bloody hate to be in an accident in one without a bazillion point cage there was that bloke a few years ago who died rear ending the lambo at 50km/hr with a full cage......the go great just don't ever crash them. Administrators gav240z Posted April 20, 2018 Administrators Posted April 20, 2018 Looks like a new shell to me. Be a shame considering it's an early car.. Quote
Riceburner Posted April 20, 2018 Posted April 20, 2018 Be a shame considering it's an early car.. Was an early car, the back half is 260z chop isn’t it? Lovely car and they’ve got some awesome video footage, great seeing someone build it, drive it hard and it sounds so good. Would love to know the spring, bar and shock specs. It glides along very nicely Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted April 20, 2018 Administrators Posted April 20, 2018 Was an early car, the back half is 260z chop isn’t it? I think it just has custom tail lamps.. Quote
Riceburner Posted April 20, 2018 Posted April 20, 2018 I thought it was a previous off with damage to the rear. So it was cut n shut with a 260z rear from towers back. Might be more 260z than 240z after this Found it here, post 19. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/16070-targa-tasmania-2017/ Quote
dat2kman Posted April 21, 2018 Author Posted April 21, 2018 Anyone have a status update on the legacy team boys who crashed out a few years ago at tas?. Havent seen them since. They ran wwide into a corner, and fell off the road, into a ditch.Unfortuneatley there was a newish exensive Porsche, in the same bit of ditch. Said Porsche owner was/s/has threatened legal action. Not sure of outcome, f any, and, the Legacy guys did say they were going to take a couple years breakk from motorsport.. Quote
gilltech Posted April 21, 2018 Posted April 21, 2018 (edited) Said Porsche owner was/s/has threatened legal action. Why was he there, did he crash into same ditch? Edited April 21, 2018 by gilltech Quote
AndBir Posted April 21, 2018 Posted April 21, 2018 (edited) The porsche had crashed out of the tour section of the Targa that proceeds the competitors and the 240Z crashed off at the same point and slammed into the back of the porsche. As the porsche was now no longer part of the rally he was able to claim on his insurance policy for the damage caused by the 240Z. The insurance company then went after the 240Z owners to try and recover the porsche repair costs. This year there were two 240Zs in the competition, another in the classique section and I saw a blue one parked up near Burnie with some spectators. Here are some pics of the two competition cars in Hobart : Edited April 22, 2018 by AndBir Quote
HKSZ Posted April 21, 2018 Posted April 21, 2018 Love to know if the porsche had triangles out well before the cornerSometimes it's badly placed triangles or crew members randomly walking around that create further accidents Quote

Sounds like a con to me, if the Porsche was still on the course then my bet is that it was still considered to be part of the event. The question is, why was it still there in an obviously dangerous position? Quote
AndBir Posted April 22, 2018 Posted April 22, 2018 Doesn't look good... According to one of the Targa officials the accident was a roll over. Quote
AndBir Posted April 22, 2018 Posted April 22, 2018 Love to know if the porsche had triangles out well before the corner Sometimes it's badly placed triangles or crew members randomly walking around that create further accidents All of the porsches in the tour have the official rally safe units fitted, this gives all cars following a visual warning on the rally safe unit clearly indicating there is a car stopped/crashed on the course and the distance from their car (that counts down as they approach the car). The warning board at the start also indicates the point on the stage where there is a hazard such as a crashed car. Quote
Bloozed Posted April 24, 2018 Posted April 24, 2018 Can't get copy URL to work but if you search "Targa Tasmania 2016 team legacy the Crash" it is still there. Maybe Gav can link it. Also quite a wake up call on the perils of targa and the Zed not turning in. Quote
