The Global Z-car (S30/S130) Market Thread.

I have noticed a lot of 240Z's being imported to the UK from the USA lately. I suppose that being so close to mainland Europe, they are more accustomed to LHD cars and the USA prices make it more viable.

This is an example of what they think a 240Z is worth - even when it is LHD, has a sunroof, needs restoration and appears to be missing parts like bumpers, rear garnish, seats  and engine bay parts.

Pre-auction estimate was £4,250 - £5,250 (AU$8,307 - $10,262) - Sold for £8,400 (AU$16,419)

Currency conversions calculated using 4 April 2015 exchange rate of 1 GBP = 1.9547 AUD.

I suspect a big part of it is the cost of shipping and import duties to the UK? Also rarity given their horrible weather has rusted all them back to dirt...

It does look solid, which makes a big difference. Sunroof is not great, the other missing parts are relatively cheap to obtain still.

There's also the fact that 240z values have been going nuts lately...

How about this car?

http://page9.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/k188908242

Looks like it could be a genuine HS30-H although it's probably a replica...Really hard to tell if it has a Rally Clock in it. (if you zoom I think it does)

If it's a genuine HS30-H it would be worth restoring...

Just found out the engine is L28 and not original L24, no wonder it hasn't sold yet.

Some people prefer their zed not to be slow...

I bet the "27,000 miles" is since it was done up too - not original mileage as it implies in all versions of the ads for it.

Who knows what any zed has done? It's a case of guess how many times it's been around the odometer right?

Over 50 Zs for sale.

http://seattle.craigslist.org/sno/cto/5147299600.html

I have over 50 z's in my collection that I need to find a good home for. They range in years from 1970 to 1983 and I even have one 86 300 zx coupe with a 5 speed left to sell. Most of these cars have been sitting so they're not running at this time however a few of them do run. One by one I'm getting them all road ready and will list them as they become ready. Prices for non runners start at 1500.00 and go up. Prices for runners start at 3000.00 and go up. Prices vary according to rust, the year of the car, and overall condition. Not running or running with low rust warrants a higher price tag. Most of them are project cars waiting for some good luvin. I've got a few 1970 and 1971's left to sell and almost every year after that up to 83. Three out of my 25 240's are almost done and ready to drive with fair to good paint jobs. 1972 Metallic green with gold pearls and flares, 4 spd for $7500.00. 1973 Ice Blue with lots of upgrades and some customizing, L28 Flat top piston motor, Dual Weber Carbs, big exhaust, R200 diff, 4 spd. and no rust for $14,000.00. 1971.5 Black 4 speed for $9,000.00. 1973 Brown on Butterscotch, 80K original miles, very clean, fairly recent restoration style paint job 4 spd, SU carbs, new Rad, Rebuilt head, stock wheels with hubcaps, car is veeeery clean. $15,000.00. I've got 4 260's to choose from and one of them even has a 302 Ford engine in front of an automatic. None of the 260's are running yet, but one by one they will be. 1972 240 Orange with white interior, needs paint, automatic trans, perfect dash, some rust, $3500.00

Nissan Fairlady $1 Reserve 260Z 1977

http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/nissan/auction-937444334.htm

When the car was stripped down, everything was in working condition. I have a brand new full weatherstrip kit, two new side emblems and upholstery done.
It has been full sandblasted, body work done and painted in it's original yellow colour.
I have paid $7100 only for the paint job and have the receipt for most of the things.
Basically all the work is done and all you have to do is put everything back in the car.
The best would be if you are a genuine buyer come have a look and I can explain in details all the work.

I am only selling at this stage because my mum wants to buy a house and she needs help with the funds.

Serious buyers only contact me for viewing, please note I am only available after 6pm or weekend.

I didn't bother to copy the description which read like advertorial. Car does look like a great example though.

I've assumed the rear bumper style on that 1970 HLS30 was for 260Zs? Bit confused after googling it now, but 240s with the rubber part and 260s without it seem to be the exception. What's the deal with that?

Bumper overriders are normal looking to me and were the same on all EXPORT market S30z's. I think it's just the camera lens making them appear larger than they really are. The Japanese Domestic Market depending on option generally didn't have them on most models.

Seems to have an unusual filler lid lock ?

Hey Peter,

I think those are normal for US spec cars. However I could be wrong. It appears in North America they got a few different versions, so maybe this car has a later version fitted? They had a keyless version also.

I have some press articles from the US Launch in 1970 that include images, I will have a look at them tonight.

Sold for US $23,100.00 (approx. AU $32,300)

Add about $8,000 AU in shipping and compliance + on road costs. So $40,000 AU for a left hand drive 240z.

Then if you wanted to convert....

Hence that 907 Green 240z (71 240z) that sold recently for $40,000 odd looked cheap. Now listed at $75,000 AU on that dealer site.
