Look like a Nissan Fairlady 240Z-L.

It says it's a 1972 model, but is painted in a similar shade to Grand Prix Maroon (a 240ZG colour only as far as I was aware?)

Apparently it's an original owner car too! Being advertised as an unrestored example. Looks like it has front frame rail rot unfortunately. The headlight covers are long since destroyed also.

I can't fully make out the vin but it appears it could be: HS30-10058? Making it six cars apart from this stateside car? The chassis plate is so corroded it's hard to tell for sure.

33 bids so far and 6 days to go. Current price is 3,001,000 yen (~$37,000 AUD) at current rate.

Which country sells the most expensive 240z hs/hls? Assuming it is 8/10 condition with original matching numbers.

Does jdm hs30 follows the normal export hs30 sequences ?

Yes, but Japanese market HS30's are generally in the higher number range than export market cars were. I believe starting from around HS30-1XXXX mark. I am pretty sure Alan HS30-H has stated what number they started in the past if I could find it.

Are you talking new or used? In terms of when they were new I think some European market cars had higher price points. I believe they were quite a bit more expensive in the UK than say Australia. It's also possible that markets like Portugal had more pricey HLS30's and to appeal to a higher end market they got some nice pieces like the Kobe Seiko wheels fitted as standard.

In terms of current market prices? I still think Japan is likely to have the highest value cars as a general rule. But the most valuable cars probably don't change hands publicly and therefore their values are harder to track.

Quite common to see those in Japanese cars I find.

Correct Gav. Proper Japanese market HS30 body serial sequence started at 'HS30-10001'.

There were a few HS30s running around in Japan before that, but they were semi-official 'Race Use', 'Diplomat' and 'Export' office sales of cars that were essentially RHD Export spec.

Those works race and rally cars with HS30 prefixes made before the HS30-10001 start kind of fell into a 'half chips, half rice' no-mans-land where they weren't really export cars but fell into the Export body serial numbers sequence for the sake of compliance with their homologation. This doesn't really affect things for the 'civilian' road cars all that much, but I find it hard to ignore them and the question does come up from time to time. At the very least, they make a few gaps in the serial number sequence I guess...

Posted

And what optional parts were fitted to these "race se" and " diplomat" cars.

And what option parts were fitted to the road registered "works race and rally" cars. With the HS30 prefix.

Is there evidence of these?

*sigh*

We've been here before haven't we?

The 'Diplomatic Sales Dept.' cars were otherwise standard Export model cars sold new in Japan to those who had the right connections. The 'Race Use' cars were usually stock too, but not necessarily 100% complete and were not expected to be road registered.

If you want evidence of the works rally cars (which are no secret) then you could start by looking at Gav's 'Early Girl Bingo' thread, which contains chassis numbers as well as photos of some of the cars concerned. We have discussed these cars - and the parts fitted to them - many times before. My mention of them in this context (chassis number sequences) is not revealing anything that isn't already known.

A nicely restored 1970 240Z over in the USA for $31K.

It has all the early 240Z features, but has a high vin HLS30 05821

http://napoliclassics.com/inventory/651046-1970-Datsun-#.VsrpQmdf1hF

edit: it hasn't got the hand throttle!

That colour doesn't seem to have arrived until 72, so I'm not sure it's an early car. It might have had a rear hatch installed with flutes in it or it may have had the console converted to a later style 1 with a later gearbox. I would be interested in seeing the driver door jamb plate which has date of manufacture for HLS30's in North America.

'HLS30-05821' production date would be plumb square in the middle of June 1970.

I'd say it just looks like a console change to the later style, that's all.
